Scooter LibbyMaureen Dowd: Bush Didn't 'Want to Add a Marc Rich Blot' With Libby Pardon
There were clues in the last couple of years that W. and Condi were trying to sidle away from Cheney by using the forbidden strategy of diplomacy in dealing with Iran and North Korea, and by cutting loose Rummy. Approximating the Marc Rich case to that of Scooter Libby is akin to comparing Barney Frank to John Wayne. They have almost nothing in common, something even Dowd may have noticed. Rove: Armitage Could Have Ended CIA Leak Case Earlier
After playing a clip of McClellan from his Today show interview in which he complained that Rove and Scooter Libby had claimed they were not involved in the leak, Rove contended that it was Armitage who leaked Plame's identity: "The identity of Valerie Plame was leaked to Robert Novak by Richard Armitage. What I told Scott was I didn't know her name, didn't reveal her name, didn't reveal, didn't know what she did at the CIA, and that I wasn't the source for the leak." Joe and Valerie Wilson Think They’re Not Getting Enough Press
This might actually be the most absurd thing I've seen in months. On Thanksgiving Day, Joe and Valerie Plame Wilson, the couple that likely has gotten more media attention in the past few years than any in America besides the Clintons and Brangelina, actually took the time to write an article whining about the press not going gaga enough about recent revelations from Scott McClellan's not yet written book. Honestly, I used to think Bill Clinton was the most self-absorbed person on the planet, but these two really take the cake. As published at the Huffington Post Thursday (emphasis added): NBC's David Gregory Falsely States Libby 'Went to Jail'NBC News White House correspondent David Gregory, accused of being a partisan, made a false statement about the "Scooter" Libby case. In reporting former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s charge that the Bush administration fed false information, Gregory claimed Libby "went to jail for obstructing the leak investigation." Although Libby was sentenced to 30 months of prison, Libby never actually went to jail as Gregory claims. President Bush commuted Libby’s sentence, eliminating the prison term yet still upholding a hefty fine and probation. "Today," however, did not spend a lot of time on the McClellan charge, just a brief story. The transcript is below. MSNBC's Abrams Hits FNC 'Attack Team,' Defends Matthews
After playing a clip of FNC's Gretchen Carlson complimenting Brit Hume as their regular moderator of debates, Abrams challenged Hume's objectivity by playing a clip of the FNC host expressing his opinion that "a lot of Democrats" don't take the war on terrorism seriously, which came from a roundtable discussion from the July 29 "Fox News Sunday." |
