Deranged: Roseanne Barr Blames Maria Osmond’s Faith for Son’s Suicide

By Jeff Poor | March 06, 2010 | 20:08

A  A

Perhaps this was a cry out for relevancy - something she hasn't been since the Clinton administration, but comedienne Roseanne Barr is showing her social commentary knows no bounds.

In a March 4 post on her blog, Barr used the suicide of Marie Osmond's son, Michael Blosil, to go on a sick and twisted anti-religion screed. According to the former sitcom star, any underlying issues that led to Blosil taking his own life were a result of "his church and the people in it":

"marie osmonds poor gay son killed himself because he had been told how wrong and how sick he was every day of his life by his church and the people in it. Calling that ‘depression' is a lie!"

Roseanne Barr: Palin is 'Slave to Right-Wing Men,' 'Against All Other Women'

By Brad Wilmouth | December 12, 2009 | 01:43

A  A

Friday's Joy Behar Show on CNN Headline News showed a pre-recorded interview with Roseanne Barr in which Barr opined that, although Sarah Palin is "likable," the "stuff she says is half nuts," and she's "half crazy and out of her mind." Barr -- who herself has a recent history of doing such bizarre things as appearing in Heeb magazine dressed as Adolf Hitler removing Jewish gingerbread cookies from an oven -- went on to declare that Palin is "like a slave to these, you know, right-wing men. That’s like the only way a right-wing woman can make it."

Barr soon added: "The only way a woman can make it in the right wing, or the conservative, whatever the hell you want to call it, Republican, is to be against all other women. And that is what she does."

Ironically, just moments later as she and Behar expressed disapproval at the man who recently threw tomatoes at Palin, Barr was critical of liberals who have treated the former Alaska governor "badly because she's female," calling it "disgusting." Barr: "I don’t like where she is treated like badly because she’s female. I think that’s so wrong, and I think the left and the liberals are disgusting to do that."

Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Friday, December 11, Joy Behar Show on CNN Headline News:

Roseanne Barr: George W. Bush Stole All The Country's Money

By Noel Sheppard | November 25, 2009 | 16:30

A  A

Did you know that last year's banking crisis was all President George W. Bush's fault, and that when he left the White House in January, he "walked out the door with all the money?"

You didn't?

Well, that's what comedienne Roseanne Barr thinks.

Such was said by Barr at an ACORN event in Watts, California, nine months ago, in a video just discovered by The Fox Nation (video embedded below the fold with partial transcript and details):

Roseanne Barr Dressed as Hitler Bakes Burnt 'Jew Cookies'

By Noel Sheppard | July 30, 2009 | 13:25

A  A

As NewsBusters has chronicled over the years, Roseanne Barr has a history of doing and saying some truly disgraceful things, but this one really takes the cake...or the cookie in this case.

Her most-recent tailspin into the gutter involved a photo shoot with Heeb magazine wherein she is seen wearing an Adolf Hitler moustache and swastika as she takes burnt gingerbread "Jew Cookies" out of an oven (pictured right).

In another, in same costume, she is shown about to take a bite out of one of these burnt cookies (picture below the fold, h/t Justin McCarthy):

Roseanne Barr: Destruction of Jews in Israel Assured by Gaza Attacks

By Noel Sheppard | December 31, 2008 | 12:38

A  A

Comedienne Roseanne Barr called Israel a "NAZI state" Tuesday, while declaring "The destruction of the jews [sic] in Israel has been assured with this inhuman attack on civilians in gaza [sic]."

She also liked Hamas to a bunch of street gangs while depicting Israel's military action "equivilent to los angeles [sic] attacking and launching war on the people of watts [sic] to attempt to kill the bloods [sic] the crips [sic]."

Such was actually posted at her blog Roseanne World Tuesday.

The entire disgraceful rant is below the fold for those that can stand it (h/t Mere Rhetoric):

Catholic Church-hating Roseanne Barr Wants Vatican to Control Jerusalem?!

By Ken Shepherd | November 20, 2008 | 18:52

A  A

Is comedian, radio talk show host and blogger Roseanne Barr angling for the ambassadorship to Israel? After all, she has a simple solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict:

ISRAEL MUST CONCEDE

ALL TERRITORY PRE 1967 AND JERUSALEM TOO, TO A THREE WAY SPLIT UNDER INTERNATIONAL AND VATICAN CONTROL IN ORDER TO AVOID WW3!!!

But wait a minute. The Vatican is administered by the Roman Catholic Church, of which Barr is decidedly not a fan. Indeed, she considers the Roman church, along with black voters and Mormons to be an enemy of the Constitution and every gay and lesbian person in California:

Roseanne Barr to Prop 8 Backers: To the Gulag, Go!

By Ken Shepherd | November 14, 2008 | 16:48

A  A

Comedian, radio talk show host and blogger Roseanne Barr has a special place she wants to send Californians -- including blacks, Catholics, and Mormons -- who voted for Proposition 8. Too bad they'd have to time travel at least 17 years back in time to get there.

Picking up her never-ending screed against those she considers enemies of well, humanity, Barr wished to be able to send voters in favor of the California constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman to the now-defunct Soviet Union:

From her November 13 blog entry entitled, "boycott these hateful anti american donors to 8" [sic]:

Roseanne Barr Now Lecturing Blacks Over Prop 8 Vote

By Ken Shepherd | November 10, 2008 | 13:00

A  A

Update/Related Blog: Brian Maloney has a great post at Radio Equalizer, noting that Barr is a liberal radio talk show host, and asking where the outrage is on the Left about her arguably racist rant.

Not content with stopping at her anti-Catholic, anti-Mormon, and anti-Semitic November 6 screed, comedian Roseanne Barr has decided to direct fire against African-Americans for voting in large numbers to pass Proposition 8, the ballot initiative in California which amends the Golden State's constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

In a November 10 post to her blog, Barr scolded the 70 percent of California's blacks who voted for Prop 8 that they have conspired to "destroy" the Constitution and have made "a mockery" of marriage.:

They showed themselves every inch as bigoted and ignorant as their white christian right wing counterpartners who voted for mccain-palin and bush-cheney

Roseanne Barr: Register Mormon, Catholic Churches, Judaism As PACs

By Ken Shepherd | November 06, 2008 | 18:56

A  A

The Mormon and Catholic churches and Jewish synagogues should be forced to register with the IRS as political action committees because they have "crossed the line between church and state" and "hate our country" and want nothing less than the "complete overthrow of the us [sic] government."

So bellows leftist comedian Roseanne Barr in a November 6 blog post, citing support for Proposition 8, conservative sexual ethics, and support for the state of Israel as her reasons respectively.

First and foremost Barr flamed against the Mormon church in a post urging her readers to rally in protest outside the Mormon temple in Los Angeles:

Roseanne Barr, Staying Classy

By Jacob S. Lybbert | August 19, 2008 | 17:16

A  A

Celebrity advisors/surrogates--like George Clooney--are a point of pride for Democrats. They like the "cool" factor these celebrities bring to their campaigns. Though their fame brings increased attention and makes their candidates chic, celebrity also elevates people with no other identifiable skills. What, exactly, does Clooney bring to Obama's team of 300 foreign policy advisors(?), for instance.

Oh well, at least Republicans don't have to deal with Roseanne Barr. Calling herself "fat old crackpotgranny," Barr blogs every day. Multiple times a day. About everything. A small sampling should suffice:

Bozell Column: Roseanne vs. Rush

By Brent Bozell | May 06, 2008 | 18:02

A  A

Air America Radio may have tried and failed to use washed-up comedians like Janeane Garofalo and Al Franken to make liberal talk radio work, but their rule seems to be that if first you don't succeed, flop, flop again. When wacky radical Randi Rhodes resigned over a nasty and profane denunciation of Hillary Clinton, Air America replaced her in afternoon drive time with... Roseanne Barr.

And in no time flat Roseanne behaved like Roseanne. On April 28 she suggested leftists should ignite riots at the Democratic convention in Denver. "We should, a bunch of us, go there and repeat the Democratic Convention from Chicago. Like, let's just cause a bunch of trouble!" There's even a leftist group called "Recreate 68" building up the rioting nostalgia.

"Recreate 68" is no joke. It is trying to draw a raucous crowd: "Join us in the streets of Denver as we resist a two-party system that allows imperialism and racism to continue unrestrained." These troublemakers live to get arrested.

C'mon, Roseanne, You're Just Trying Too Hard Now

By Ken Shepherd | June 29, 2007 | 16:07

A  A
Roseanne Barr once suggested that while she has the qualifications to take Rosie O'Donnell's steel (which hopefully won't melt) reinforced chair (or is it perch?) on "The View," that she's a bit too anti-Israel to work on the gab fest. It's a shame, seeing as she has as much raw blogging talent as Rosie, although she sometimes slips into an ALL CAPS SHOUT FEST!!!!:

IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT AND THE VICE PRESIDENT, THEY ARE TRAITORS TO AMERICA, AND SO ARE ALL OF THEIR SUPPORTERS. IMPEACH! ANYONE IN CONGRESS WHO REFUSES TO SAVE OUR UNION FROM THESE TRAITORS BY DOING NOTHING NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. SAVE OUR TROOPS!!! SAVE OUR SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS AND JOBS. FEED OUR HUNGRY AND POOR! SAVE THE DROWNING PEOPLE IN NEW ORLEANS! ANYONE WHO MENTIONS PARIS HILTON ONE MORE TIME MUST DIE!

You're welcome for the bump in traffic, Ms. Barr, and HAVE A HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.

Roseanne Barr: Wrong for 'The View,' Right for BBC?

By Ken Shepherd | May 03, 2007 | 13:37

A  A

Michelle Malkin noticed that comedian Roseanne Barr wrote recently on her blog that she's too biased against Israel to be hired for the Barbara Walters daytime gab-fest. Here's what Barr wrote:

In reality, I could never host that show, or any network show, because I have opinions that are not sanctioned by the powers that be who refuse to allow even one dissenting voice over the airwaves of television(in this a "free" country).

I truly believe that millions of jews are not zionists, and that even if they are, they do not support Israeli occupation. I believe that Jews all over this planet choose peace in the middle east over the never ending death machine of hatred and division and terror that exists there now.

Given her confessed bias, maybe BBC would be a better fit. After all, the British news service has spent British tax dollars in an attempt to block publication of an internal audit regarding its biases in Middle East reporting, particularly its bias against Israel.

Barr would make a great queen of controversy in the realm of daytime talk. At least she's still royalty where it counts the most:

Rumors Rise of Roseanne for Rosie Replacement

By Matthew Sheffield | April 30, 2007 | 10:53

A  A
According to the New York Post's Don Kaplan, Roseanne Barr is the early favorite to replace the deposed Rosie O'Donnell.

Barr is no less of a liberal and almost as controversial as O'Donnell. If she were to replace O'Donnell, Barr would continue to tilt the show to the extreme left and fail to bring back the many viewers of "The View" who were offended at the numerous outrageous statements made by O'Donnell.

In a March appearance on HBO's "Real Time," Barr alleged that conservatives "liked Reagan because he's a confederate. [...] They worship him because he dismantled working rights for people."

Barr will bring a left-wing agenda to "The View." She admitted that she had one earlier this year:

Roseanne on 'The View': Limousine Class Warfare and Conspiracy Theories

By Justin McCarthy | March 13, 2007 | 17:19

A  A

Another left winger appeared on "The View." This time it was Roseanne Barr who felt she knew everything because she’s "old," claimed to stump for the middle and working class while admitting she’s rich, bashed the late Ronald Reagan, praised Rosie O’Donnell, and hinted at the left wing election "fixing" conspiracy theory.

Roseanne started with her explanation on why she thinks she knows everything, then demonstrated her love for her favorite "View" co-hosts, Rosie O’Donnell and Joy Behar. She even added that Rosie made this a "very intellectual hour." The multimillionaire comedienne proceeded to bring in her class warfare pitch by bashing the late President Ronald Reagan and then discussed with four rich women the horror that "most people like to hang out with rich people. They don’t give a damn about anyone else." The four rich co-hosts agreed.

Rosie, Roseanne, and Joy agreed on some commonly held left wing conspiracy theories. Roseanne called on "people who fix elections" to "let a Democrat in the next time." Then of course, much of the media feeds us is "the art of distraction." The transcript from key points of the discussion is below.

Roseanne Barr: I'm Like Totally More Intelligent Than President Bush

By Brent Baker | October 19, 2005 | 15:59

A  A
Actress/comedian Roseanne Barr, who claims to be a psychic (“I channel the higher mind, the higher universal mind”), used the made-up word “overcomeable” and employed teenage phrases such as “like” and “totally,” insisted on Monday night's Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC that she would win a battle of intelligence with President Bush. Barr recounted how she's “going around telling jokes about our country and our people and the world and how screwed up everything is. And I just basically bitch.” She soon maintained about Bush: "I could totally win him in a mind contest." Barr, the star of the mid-1980s to early 1990s ABC sit-com Roseanne, elaborated: “Like if it was like a psychic thing and he was like, okay Rosanne, bring your best powers against my best powers, even though he's like totally world-wide connected, and I'm not so world-wide, I could so totally still win on account of like being female, being a grandmother and like, you know, being intelligent. I could totally win."

Barr, who made the appearance to plug a new DVD of the first season of the Roseanne sit-com, boasted: “I have been psychic since I was very young, about three-years-old. Whenever I touch someone, I pick up all their vibes and stuff. So that's why I don't like to shake hands or touch people because I see like, you know, them dying in horrible car wrecks and stuff like that and it's depressing." Apparently, that was just a joke.
