By Noel Sheppard | May 04, 2012 | 22:42

What is it about liberals and gay jokes?

On HBO's Real Time Friday, the host once again took a homosexual jab at Marcus Bachmann saying, "He would also like to get behind Romney" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Jimmy Kimmel Slams Marcus Bachmann With Gay Jokes at White House Correspondents' Dinner

By Noel Sheppard | April 28, 2012 | 23:55

Is the White House Correspondents' Dinner the proper venue to make gay jokes about the husband of a current female member of Congress?

NBC's Jimmy Kimmel certainly thought so as he took a page out of vulgar comedian Bill Maher's playbook claiming Keith Olbermann "has more pink slips than Marcus Bachmann" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Saturday Night Live Again Begins Show Trashing Romney, Makes Disgusting Gay Joke About Marcus Bachmann

By Noel Sheppard | April 15, 2012 | 10:51

As NewsBusters reported last week, now that Mitt Romney appears set to win the Republican presidential nomination, Saturday Night Live is going to do its darnedest to trash him every week through Election Day.

This pattern continued Saturday as for the second week in a row the program began with a segment attacking the former Massachusetts governor while also taking shots at all the other candidates including a disgusting homosexual reference to Michele Bachmann's husband Marcus (transcribed lowlights and commentary follow, video for those that can stand it available at Mediaite):

Bill Maher Uses Trayvon Martin Issue to Attack...Michele Bachmann?

By Noel Sheppard | March 31, 2012 | 05:52

Bill Maher on Friday actually used the Trayvon Martin issue to attack Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn).

In his HBO Real Time opening monologue, the host said of Congressman Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) wearing a hoodie on the House floor, "Too scary? Have you ever looked into Michele Bachmann's eyes?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Montel Williams Defends Suicide Wish on Bachmann Moments After Decrying Limbaugh 'Slut' Comment

By Brad Wilmouth | March 10, 2012 | 11:11

As he appeared as a guest on Friday's Piers Morgan Tonight on CNN, moments after decrying Rush Limbaugh's recent "slut" comment, liberal talk radio host Montel Williams defended his infamous suggestion that Michele Bachmann should kill herself by decapitation as being unrelated to the recent Limbaugh matter.

While he was discussing his encounter with a wounded American soldier, he bizarrely brought up Limbaugh as if to suggest that the conservative host's strong words were a dishonor to the people who fight to defend the country. Williams:

Howard Kurtz: Bachmann Should Have Expected Verbal Abuse Because She Ran for President

By Matt Hadro | March 06, 2012 | 19:11

Michele Bachmann complained that although the media are outraged over an insult of Sandra Fluke, "there is no level of vitriol that's beyond the pale" when the victims are conservative women. CNN's Howard Kurtz questioned that assumption since Bachmann ran for president and should have expected "a lot of criticism." Apparently, running for president nowadays subjects you and your family to vile, obscene, personal insults – and you should simply expect it.

When then-candidate Obama was the target of a fraction of the vitriol Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann received as presidential candidates, the media rushed to his defense and rightfully did not tolerate such invective being a part of the presidential process. [Warning: this article includes uncensored vulgarities to accurately represent what certain members of the media have said about conservative women.]

Piers Morgan Rudely Labels Michele Bachmann as Intolerant, 'Judgmental,' and 'Vociferous'

By Matt Hadro | March 06, 2012 | 13:24

On his Monday night show, CNN's Piers Morgan branded Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) as "one of the most judgmental people in American politics." Bachmann shot back that he was being "absolutely rude."

Morgan's interview with her was relatively tame until he broached the topic of homosexuality, where he promptly accused Bachmann of being "judgmental" and "vociferous" in her views. [Video below the break.]

Fox Liberal: Anti-Rush Campaign 'Isn't About Misogyny' - 'It's a Proxy War' to Help Dems in November

By Noel Sheppard | March 05, 2012 | 20:36

As NewsBusters reported, liberal Fox News contributor Kirsten Powers published a rather surprising column at the Daily Beast Sunday called "Rush Limbaugh Isn’t the Only Media Misogynist."

On Monday she appeared on Fox's America Live taking this issue even further saying, "This isn't really about misogyny...It's a proxy war for the Democratic Party: they can use it in the election for part of the war on women, and they can attack Rush Limbaugh because they hate Rush Limbaugh because he's conservative" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Martin Bashir: GOP Candidates Are Idiots for Wanting Sheriff Joe's Endorsement

By Noel Sheppard | March 02, 2012 | 19:50

MSNBC's Martin Bashir isn't pleased with Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio claiming President Obama's birth certificate is a forgery.

Although that's to be expected, it was odd to see Bashir Friday on the show bearing his name end a segment about his disdain for Arpaio by saying, "The only thing that has been proven beyond any doubt is the rank stupidity of Herman Cain, Rich Perry, Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney, and Rick Santorum all of whom have sought this discredited and ridiculous man's endorsement" (video follows with commentary):

NY Times Writers Rush to Obama's Defense Like It's Their Job

By Clay Waters | February 10, 2012 | 14:34

New York Times reporter Erik Eckholm (pictured), whose previous reporting betrays no conservative sympathies, listened to former presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday afternoon and winced at her attacks on President Obama. Thursday’s post for the paper’s “Caucus” blog, “Bachmann Assails Obama Before Conservatives.”

The Times is particularly sensitive to people accusing Obama of “apologizing for America” overseas. Public Editor Arthur Brisbane got huffy and pedantic in defense of the president back in January:

Bob Schieffer Asks Michele Bachmann 'Has the Tea Party Made Compromise a Dirty Word?'

By Noel Sheppard | January 29, 2012 | 18:31

Despite Democrats controlling the White House and the Senate, Obama-loving media members love to blame gridlock in Washington on Republicans.

Speak No Evil: Planned Parenthood Protected by Networks

By Paul Wilson | January 04, 2012 | 11:35

What does Planned Parenthood have to do for a mention on the network news? The group provides services abhorred by much of the American population and it has been riddled with scandal recently. But according to the abortion group's latest figures, its intake of federal tax dollars up by more than a third, and that 90 percent of its government funding comes from federal money.

Sounds like a controversial story. Too bad ABC, CBS and NBC haven't been paying attention.

CNN's O'Brien Grills Bachmann But Hands Soft Interview to 'Occupy' Protesters

By Matt Hadro | January 03, 2012 | 14:54

CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien has had a history of liberal bias – to a scale approaching activism – and she showed where her newest CNN show might be headed on Tuesday with a completely liberal double-standard in her interviews.

During the 7 a.m. hour of CNN's Starting Point, O'Brien hit GOP candidate Michele Bachmann from the left on homosexuality, but later teed up liberal "Occupy" protesters to defend their cause and claim to be "non-partisan." Bachmann blasted O'Brien's "gotcha" question and insisted that voters are focused on economic issues. [Video below the break.]

By Matt Hadro | December 21, 2011 | 20:56

After presidential candidate Michele Bachmann referred to North Korea as “the Wal-Mart of missile delivery systems,” CNN correspondent Brian Todd hyped the possible political backlash she could suffer for using Wal-Mart’s name in such a manner.

The CNN headline blared “Bachmann Insults Wal-Mart” and Todd whacked the GOP candidate with a critical segment on her making an “odd Wal-Mart reference.”

CBS's Hill to Bachmann: House GOP 'Risks Looking Like The Grinch'

By Matthew Balan | December 21, 2011 | 13:44

CBS's Erica Hill invoked an infamous Christmas season villain on Wednesday's Early Show, stating that "[House] Republicans...risk looking like the Grinch here four days before Christmas" for their refusal to sign onto the Senate's proposed two-month extension of the payroll tax holiday. Hill made that claim during an interview of Rep. Michele Bachmann, and pressed her about the payroll tax issue.

The anchor brought on Rep. Bachmann to discuss her presidential campaign's swing through Iowa during the lead-up to that state's caucuses at the beginning of January. However, Hill devoted the first half of the segment to the dispute over extending the tax holiday, and led with a question that included her "Grinch" label:

NBC's Curry to Michele Bachmann: Has Boehner 'Lost All Control' of House GOP?

By Kyle Drennen | December 21, 2011 | 11:53

On Wednesday's NBC Today, co-host Ann Curry led off an interview with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann by wondering if House Speaker John Boehner was a liar or just incompetent: "Did House Speaker John Boehner mislead the Senate into thinking this payroll tax extension was a done deal? Or has he lost all control of Republican Tea Party members of the House?" [Audio available here]

Bachmann pointed to the Democrats: "...there is a real lack of leadership in Washington, D.C. The President, unfortunately, has been awol in this process since early last summer, and now here we are....Harry Reid essentially threw a grenade over into the House and left, and said take it or leave it. So it was very difficult for John Boehner, because this was just a two-month temporary gimmick..." [View video after the jump]

On NBC's Meet the Press, Bachmann Schools Gregory on National Debt

By Kyle Drennen | December 19, 2011 | 11:35

As Congresswoman Michele Bachmann made the point on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday that the national debt has increased dramatically under President Obama compared to under President Bush, host David Gregory interrupted and attempted to dismiss that fact: "Congresswoman, that just misstates the record....For accuracy, the debt exploded under the Bush administration." [Audio available here]

Bachmann tried to finish her point: "There's no comparison. We're talking-" But Gregory kept interrupting: "...the debt – wait a minute, Congresswoman." Bachmann replied: "David, let me just finish." Gregory claimed: "No, wait a minute. I just want to stop you for accuracy." [View video after the jump]

By Noel Sheppard | December 17, 2011 | 14:45

So much that despite their total disdain for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), they'll even defend her from supposed sexist attacks by the former Speaker of the House (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Joe Scarborough: I Can Name 200 House Republicans More Qualified Than GOP Presidential Candidates

By Noel Sheppard | December 13, 2011 | 13:08

After telling his Morning Joe viewers that he would consider voting for potential third party candidate Ron Paul if Newt Gingrich won the nomination, Scarborough said he could "in five minutes write a list of 200 Republican members of the House of Representatives" more qualified than "the presidential candidates that are running right now" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Taranto on Bogus AP 'Fact Check': 'Literally Doesn't Know the Meaning of the Word 'Fact''

By Tom Blumer | December 09, 2011 | 18:49

Yesterday, Anne Gearan at the Associated Press, aka the Administration's Press, wrote what she called a "Fact Check" piece about a political promise. Really.

Two Republican presidential candidates, Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann, are both promising to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem if they should become the nation's next president. There's literally no way to "fact check" something that is only a promise, but Gearan wasted over 500 words pretending to do just that. She couldn't even buy a clue that her item's title ("FACT CHECK: Israel embassy promise may be empty") gives away the, uh, fact that it wasn't a "fact check" at all. Jim Taranto at the Wall Street Journal's Best of the Web minced no words in critiquing AP's and Gearan's cluelessness (bolds are mine):

ABC's Morning Show Host Gets Chance to Jab GOPers in Primetime

By Geoffrey Dickens | December 08, 2011 | 13:07

The GOP presidential candidates, at the upcoming ABC News debate in Iowa, should brace themselves to be splattered with tough questions from the left from moderator George Stephanopoulos. The good news for them is that most should be well-prepared for the left-leaning sliders, as many have already been subjected to Stephanopoulos’s liberal questioning on Good Morning America. In 20 interview segments this year with the GOP candidates, totaling nearly two hours (110 minutes), an MRC review has documented Stephanopoulos has consistently pressed his guests from the left. Of questions with an ideological bent 75 percent (36) were from the left with just 25 percent (12) of them coming from the right.

When current GOP frontrunner Newt Gingrich showed up on the January 18 edition of Good Morning America, Stephanopoulos prodded the former Speaker of the House if he was prepared to put 129 million Americans at “risk” with his opposition to Obamacare. (video after the jump)

WaPo Music Critic: Playing 'Lyin' A** B*tch' to Intro Bachmann Shows The Roots Are 'Artists'

By Ken Shepherd | December 06, 2011 | 12:16

In a glowing review of The Roots' new album "undun," Washington Post music critic Chris Richards lamented it was "too bad" that the band's choice of Fishbone's "Lyin' A** B*tch" to introduce Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann on the November 21 Late Night with Jimmy Fallon will likely be "the one song" that the band will "be remembered for" most in 2011.

"The band considered it a joke. Certain corners of the media considered it an outrage," Richards noted (emphasis mine):

Fallon Bandleader Accuses 'Tea Party Extremists' of Sending Him Racial Epithets on Twitter

By Noel Sheppard | December 02, 2011 | 10:52

On Thursday, the bandleader responsible for the song choice was interviewed by Pitchfork, and he not surprisingly made some accusations of racism at "Tea Party extremists" (serious vulgarity warning):
