Mary MitchellChgo Sun-Times: 'Obama Has Been Loathe to Talk About Race'
Throughout his campaign, Obama has been loathe to talk about race. And frankly, that apparently was a winning strategy since most people can't talk about race without getting angry. OK, Mary, let's try this once more. Obama has not "been loathe to talk about race." He's the one - or do you prefer The One? - who injected race into the campaign. Chgo Sun-Times: 'Sarah Palin Makes Me Sick'
"Palin should be laughingstock to all feminists" is the title of Mary Mitchell's column in today's Chicago Sun-Times. In that calm, detached tone readers have come to expect, Mitchell begins:
Chgo Sun-Times: Palin 'Shook Up Every Registered Voter in the 'Hood'Today's Chicago Sun-Times boasts "Is attack dog's bite even worse than her bark?" by columnist Mary Mitchell. The attack dog, of course, is Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Mitchell writes: After hearing Palin speak, I'm afraid she's going to take McCain someplace he doesn't really want to go. Mitchell doesn't provide examples of the governor's relentless use of divisive language, so we're expected to just accept her assertion. Moreover, the columnist doesn't mention how the "small-town people against the rest of us" sentiment may have been initiated. The Washington Post reported on August 30: Sun-Times: Palin on Ticket to Engage in 'Mean-Spirited Personal Attacks'
This morning Mitchell is heaping a new sort of praise onto Sarah Palin, implying that her speech was a mean spirited attack, labeling her as backwoods and stating that discussing her record of experience is a "Republican ploy", i.e. - a trick to highlight Barack Obama's lack of experience.
Chicago Sun-Times: Obama 'Tries To Avoid Talking About Race'The Chicago Sun-Times today includes Mary Mitchell's column, "We can deny it, but race slithers into campaign." The subheadline reads "Obama, his campaign trying to transcend it -- but can't." The article makes a startling assertion about Senator Barack Obama: Obama tries to avoid talking about race, as do his surrogates, staffers and supporters. Say what? Obama's recent remarks that he "doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills" clearly referred to his race. Even his chief strategist admits that. And it was hardly the first time he introduced the subject. In June, Mitchell's colleague Lynn Sweet mentioned a pool report from the New York Times's John Broder: Newsday's Payne: MSM 'Completely Adore McCain and Cover Him Favorably'In today's Chicago Sun-Times, columnist Mary Mitchell writes of a panel conducted at the UNITY convention of minority journalists: Earlier, an NPR editor asked panelists whether it was appropriate for journalists to clap for Obama -- and the question uncorked a mounting frustration among many black reporters. That the mainstream media adore McCain comes as a surprise to all of us continually irritated by its fawning and swooning over Barack Obama. Chgo Sun-Times: Violent White Men 'Not Held Accountable for Their Actions'
Two "old white guys" let go without arrest after a traffic altercation? Wow, case closed, racism exists, eh? Chgo Sun-Times: Denial of Rev. Wright's Honorary Degree an 'Injustice'
In the sort of backwards logic of a woeful Black victim mentality -- Mitchell’s specialty -- Mitchell is claiming that the decision to rescind the racist Rev's honorary degree is an illegitimate one because the decision was made in March "before his image and words exploded on YouTube and became a headache for Barack Obama." Mitchell acts as if Wright's outrageous hate-speak was born fully-grown out of nowhere when he burst onto the national scene in March. But it was all rather well known in Illinois long before that. |
