Actor and comedian Martin Short took a comedic swipe at the Huffington Post on the CBS Late Show Thursday.

After relaying inaccurate information about the shakeup at NBC's Tonight Show to host David Letterman, Martin said, "Huffington Post usually knows" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Saturday Night Live Does Entire Sketch About Kate Middleton's Vagina

By Noel Sheppard | December 16, 2012 | 11:13

On a night when NBC's Saturday Night Live began with a reverential tribute to Friday's massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, the writers also had a perverse fascination with female body parts.

After guest host Martin Short mentioned kissing a vagina during his opening monologue, he later played a representative from Buckingham Palace instructing an Ob/Gyn, played by Bill Hader, how to treat and refer to Kate Middleton's vagina during her pregnancy (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Appearing as a guest on Wednesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC, comedian Martin Short took a shot at Sarah Palin as he compared her family to the family of the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo show on TLC. After making fun of host Jimmy Kimmel for supposedly not doing preparation for his show, Short jabbed Kimmel as the "Honey Boo Boo of late night."

He soon brought up the Palin family and made a comparison. The exchange follows below:

Flashback: ‘Bastard in the Sand’ Parody Sung by Martin Short Accompanied by the ‘Singing Navy SEALS’

By Brent Baker | September 10, 2011 | 21:27

A  A

Back in May, actor/comedian Martin Short celebrated the killing of Osama bin Laden by singing, on the Late Show with David Letterman, “Bastard in the Sand,” a parody set to the tune of Elton John's “Candle in the Wind.”

With the tenth anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday, I thought I'd re-post video of the entertaining song (original May 30 NB post).

Video: ‘Bastard in the Sand’ Parody Sung by Martin Short Accompanied by the ‘Singing Navy SEALS’

By Brent Baker | May 30, 2011 | 23:04

A  A

A couple of weeks ago, actor/comedian Martin Short celebrated the killing of Osama bin Laden by singing, on the Late Show with David Letterman, “Bastard in the Sand,” a parody set to the tune of Elton John's “Candle in the Wind.”

As he played the piano and sang, he was accompanied by five people dressed as Navy SEALs whom the Late Show blog, the Wahoo Gazette, called “the Singing Navy SEALs.” A couple of the humorous stanzas:

In the afterlife, six dozen virgins sure sounded swell
So it must've burned your ass, when you ended up in hell.

It seems to me you lived your life like a bastard in the sand
Never knowing when the U.S. Navy SEALs would land.

NBC Showcases Martin Short Championing How Being 'Progressive' Makes Canada 'Very Hip'

By Brent Baker | February 12, 2010 | 13:57

A  A
People around the world view Canada as “very hip” because of its “progressive” health care and environmental policies, actor/impersonator Martin Short contended in a soundbite featured in a Thursday NBC Nightly News story looking at how, on the eve of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canadians perceive themselves.

In his story, NBC reporter Kevin Tibbles, a native of Canada, also aired a clip from Morton Weinfeld, of Montreal's McGill University, who asserted: “Canada is this peaceable kingdom. It's this decent place. Decency is not that exciting.” Short (IMDb page), a Saturday Night Live veteran now starring on FX's Damages, declared:
As a Canadian, when I travel the world I find that people find being Canadian to be very hip because we have been progressive in health care, and we have been progressive in environmental issues. And I think that we now wear that with great pride.
