Mediaite: 'Does The BP Oil Spill Mark The Death Of The Tea Party Movement?'

By Noel Sheppard | June 02, 2010 | 18:54

The senior editor of the liberal online publication Mediaite asked an astonishingly absurd question in a headline Tuesday:

"Does The BP Oil Spill Mark The Death Of The Tea Party Movement?"

Glynnis MacNicol's premise in her piece by that name: "The call for less government intervention into the lives of ‘regular' citizens that was so prevalent throughout last summer, and fall, and winter has gone nearly silent in the face of the Gulf disaster."

MacNicol's supporting evidence of the Tea Party's demise:

Headline - 'Conclusion: Sarah Palin Speaks Like A Toddler'

By Noel Sheppard | April 06, 2010 | 19:20

"Conclusion: Sarah Palin Speaks Like A Toddler."

Such is the title of a Mediaite piece published Tuesday which badly cherry-picked a rather comprehensive analysis of the former Alaska governor's speech patterns.

To make her demeaning point about Palin, author Glynnis MacNicol offered her readers a grand total of six sentences from John McWhorter's 2500-word piece published at The New Republic.

Maybe even worse, her well thought out analysis of the linguist's work was economically presented in only five sentences. Here were the first four:

Mediaite: 'If The Election Were Held Today Obama Would Lose'

By Noel Sheppard | November 03, 2009 | 09:46

Would you ever in your wildest dreams have imagined a year after Barack Obama's historic victory a new website created by former MSNBC GM Dan Abrams and crawling with ex-Huffington Posters would declare in a headline, "If The Election Were Held Today Obama Would Lose?"

Granted, the article written by ex-HuffPoster Glynnis MacNicol took its cue from a recently released Rasmussen poll, and discounted its findings.

Regardless, the headline and opening paragraphs by themselves indicate just how much the bloom has come off the Barose (h/t Matt Lewis):

Mediaite: Is Rachel Maddow the Glenn Beck of the Left?

By Noel Sheppard | October 27, 2009 | 09:14

Rachel Maddow: The Glenn Beck Of The Left?

So reads the headline of a column published Tuesday in the left-leaning website Mediaite.

For those unfamiliar, Mediaite is the brainchild of former MSNBC general manager Dan Abrams, and was described by managing editor Colby Hall as "Huffington Post meets Gawker."

No surprise there, for two of its other editors, Rachel Sklar and Glynnis MacNicol, both hail from HuffPo.

With this in mind, the latter wrote a piece Tuesday actually comparing someone liberals absolutely adore to someone liberals totally despise:
