NBC's New Hire Lisa Bloom Once Implied Prop 8 Supporters are 'Lunatic-Fringe Bigots'

By Matthew Balan | February 25, 2013 | 19:12

A  A

MediaBistro's TVNewser blog reported on Thursday that NBC's Today hired former CNN legal analyst Lisa Bloom as their new legal analyst. Bloom, the only child of notorious celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, is a chip off her mother's block, given her liberal record both on the air and online, particularly on the issue of same-sex "marriage".

The attorney blasted California's voter-approved Proposition 8 in a January 28, 2010 editorial for CNN.com titled "Prop 8 is simply unconstitutional." Bloom used personal anecdotes to contrast "reckless heterosexual nuptials" with the 16-year relationship of her friends Wilbert and Carlos, who, in her words, are "second-class citizens in their own country." She dropped the inflammatory hint at Prop 8 supporters later in her piece:

Gloria Allred: Women in Petraeus Scandal Are Victims of 'Very Unfair' Media 'Double Standard'

By Randy Hall | November 16, 2012 | 16:08

A  A

Here's something you don't see every day: a prominent liberal accusing the mainstream media of having a "double standard" and treating people in a "very unfair" manner.

But that's exactly what happened on Wednesday, when feminist lawyer Gloria Allred told Caroline May -- a political reporter with the Daily Caller website -- that the women in the sex scandal surrounding the resignation of former CIA Director David Petraeus "are being depicted in a negative and stereotypical manner."

NBC Shills for Transgender Advocacy and Its Own Beauty Contest

By Paul Wilson | April 04, 2012 | 13:21

A  A

Transgender beauty contest pageant contestant Jenna Talackova threw a tantrum about being disqualified from the Miss Universe pageant because Talackova was born a man. And NBC’s “Today” proved more than willing to hype his complaint – despite the fact (or because) NBC News’ parent group, NBC Universal, is helping Donald Trump run the Miss Universe beauty pageant.

On April 4, “Today” anchor Ann Curry teased a segment on the Talackova incident: “It’s not often that Donald Trump backs down, but following an outcry, he’s decided to lift a ban on a transgender woman from entering his Miss Universe competition.”

Once You Go Conservative Black, You Better Watch Your Back

By Ann Coulter | December 01, 2011 | 11:40

A  A

With the mainstream media giddily reporting on an alleged affair involving Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, how long can it be before they break the news that their 2004 vice presidential candidate conceived a "love child" with his mistress, Rielle Hunter?

The left is trying to destroy Cain with a miasma of hazy accusations leveled by three troubled women. Considered individually, the accusations are utterly unbelievable. They are even less credible taken together. This is how liberals destroy a man, out of nothing.

ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC Bring On Cain Accuser; CNN Targets Limbaugh

By Matthew Balan | November 08, 2011 | 15:31

A  A

The same networks that ignored sexual allegations against Democrats for months all leaped on Tuesday to interview Sharon Bialek and her liberal advocate Gloria Allred on the morning after she came forward. Between them, ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC devoted over 21 minutes to Bialek, who accused GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain of groping her over a decade ago. CNN had Bialek on for eight and a half minutes, and played up how Rush Limbaugh apparently said "not so nice things" about her [audio clips available here; video below the jump].

CBS's The Early Show gave the softest interview, failing to mention the accuser's past bankruptcies or Allred's liberal political leanings, something the other three at least mentioned. Anchor Jeff Glor asked Bialek if she would still vote for Cain if he became the GOP presidential nominee, only after her attorney, Gloria Allred, mentioned that her client was a registered Republican. None of the interviewers raised why Bialek had been fired by the National Restaurant Association before her meeting with Cain (correspondent Jan Crawford noted the firing in a setup piece on CBS).

Network Deluge: 99 Stories on Cain Harassment Charges in Less Than Nine Days

By Scott Whitlock | November 08, 2011 | 13:52

A  A

In only eight and a half days, NBC, CBS and ABC have devoted a staggering 99 stories to sexual harassment charges against Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain. In comparison, eight days into Bill Clinton's scandal's with Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick, there were a combined eight reports.

Additionally, the three network newscasts on Monday offered scant information about the fact that Cain's accuser, Sharon Bialek, has hired the extremely liberal lawyer Gloria Allred. On NBC's Nightly News, reporter Kelly O'Donnell described Allred as a "high profile attorney." On CBS's Evening News, Jan Crawford referred to her as a "celebrity lawyer."

Herman Cain: The Liberal Media's Latest Target for Personal Destruction

By Cal Thomas | November 08, 2011 | 12:38

A  A

In 2007 when she was running for president, Hillary Rodham Clinton told a fundraising event in Carson City, Nev., "I sure don't want Democrats, or the supporters of Democrats, to be engaging in the politics of personal destruction. I think we should stay focused on what we're going to do for America."

Clinton's husband, the former president, used the phrase at the time of his impeachment proceedings for lying under oath about a sexual dalliance in the White House.

The politics of personal destruction is nothing new. It has been around from the beginning of the country when worse things were said about presidents and presidential candidates than have been alleged against Herman Cain.

Piers Morgan Interviews Cain Accuser Without Asking About Her Bankruptcies, Paternity Suit or NRA Termination

By Noel Sheppard | November 08, 2011 | 10:40

A  A

CNN's Piers Morgan on Monday did the first interview with Herman Cain's accuser, but failed to ask Sharon Bialek - who was in the company of her liberal activist attorney Gloria Allred - any questions about her two bankruptcies, the paternity lawsuit her former husband filed against her shortly after their child was born, or exactly why she was terminated by the National Restaurant Association a month before the alleged actions by Cain took place.

Maybe Morgan missed this report by ABC's Chicago affiliate Monday (video follows with partial transcript and commentary):

Greta Van Susteren Smacks Down 'Delusional' Allred: It's 'Unthinkable' and 'Rotten'

By Noel Sheppard | October 02, 2010 | 12:21

A  A
Greta Van Susteren on Friday absolutely skewered Gloria Allred, the attorney representing California Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman's former housekeeper.

In a fiery nine minute discussion on Fox's "On the Record," the host accused her guest of being "unthinkable" and "rotten" by bringing this issue to light, especially right before an election.

"You're getting your client deported by putting a big neon sign, 'Hey, I'm here illegally, I signed documents falsely, and I've done that under penalty of perjury,'" scolded Van Susteren.

"On the eve of an election, to raise something like this, which has the possibility of smearing unfairly, calling someone a liar and subverting the electoral process...I think all three things are rotten" (video follows with comments and highlights along with full transcript at end of post, h/t Ed Morrissey):

ABC Spins Whitman Controversy as the 'Story That Won't Go Away,' Airs Fourth Segment in Two Days

By Scott Whitlock | October 01, 2010 | 12:27

A  A

Good Morning America on Friday continued to hype the allegations that gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman knowingly employed an illegal alien, airing the fourth segment on the topic in just two days. As though ABC hadn't played a role, reporter David Wright labeled the controversy "the story that won't seem to go away for Meg Whitman."

He added that it was a "major distraction for her campaign as this race heads into the final month." Wright explained how attorney Gloria Allred is representing Nikki Diaz, the illegal alien who was fired by the California Republican.

What Wright failed to mention is that Allred is also a partisan Democrat who has donated $10,000 to Democratic candidates and the California state party. In 2003, she tried to take down the last Republican gubernatorial candidate, Arnold Schwarzenegger. (ABC's George Stephanopoulos did mention Allred's liberal leanings on Thursday. Wright in a report the same day, did not.)

Mark Levin Grills Gloria Allred On Illegal Immigrant Client, Allegations Against Meg Whitman

By Ken Shepherd | September 30, 2010 | 21:59

A  A

Earlier this evening, conservative radio host and friend of NewsBusters Mark Levin conducted a nearly 20-minute interview with Gloria Allred, a celebrity attorney who's also known for her liberal politics.

[The interview is definitely worth a listen. For the full segment, click here to access the audio.]

Allred is representing one Nicky Diaz, an illegal immigrant who worked as a housekeeper for California Republican gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman. Allred alleges Whitman employed Diaz knowing that she was an illegal immigrant. Whitman denies the allegation and says she fired Diaz after learning that she was an illegal.

Levin, a veteran of the Reagan Justice Department and president of the Landmark Legal Foundation, grilled Allred for, among other things, willingly exposing her client to legal jeopardy. Diaz is, after all, an illegal immigrant who quite possibly committed Social Security fraud, a federal felony.

Levin also asked Allred if she was working for Diaz pro bono or if she was being paid by a third party. Allred declined to disclose that information and also denied any collaboration with the campaign of Whitman's Democratic opponent, Jerry Brown.
