Deeply Concerned Chris Matthews Fears Climate Change Will 'Create Trade Routes Across the Arctic Circle!'

By Jack Coleman | July 15, 2011 | 20:13

A  A

Appearing on fellow MSNBCer Ed Schultz's radio show yesterday, Chris Matthews waxed apocalyptic about what he believes will be a dire consequence of climate change.

Matthews told Schultz of an unidentified friend in Alaska, presumably not Sarah Palin, who warned him of what's to come from warming temperatures  (audio) --

Smug Ed Schultz Forced to Admit Huge Blunder About News Corp.

By Jack Coleman | July 14, 2011 | 19:18

A  A

A former gridiron star really ought to know better than to spike the ball in the wrong end zone.

Appearing more subdued than he had on "The Ed Show" just 24 hours earlier, MSNBC action hero Ed Schultz last night admitted making an embarrassing error about News Corporation, parent company of Schultz nemesis Fox News Channel.

On "The Ed Show" July 12, Schultz claimed he knew why Fox pundits such as Bill O'Reilly oppose President Obama's call for higher taxes on the wealthy (video after page break) --

Socialist Senator: Obama's Wrong - Social Security Checks Will Go Out If Debt Ceiling Isn't Raised

By Noel Sheppard | July 14, 2011 | 00:03

A  A

America's only admittedly socialist member of Congress said Wednesday that he disagreed with President Obama's comments concerning Social Security checks possibly not going out on August 3rd if the debt ceiling isn't raised.

When Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said he felt checks to seniors and disabled vets would be issued no matter what, the host of MSNBC's "The Ed Show" responded, "So you would take issue with the President on that statement, that he may have been fear-mongering in essence?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Lunacy of Ed Schultz Rubs Off On His Radio Producer

By Jack Coleman | July 08, 2011 | 17:10

A  A

In fairness to the man, prolonged exposure to unhinged daily rants will take its toll on the best of us.

Here is an example of the damage this has wrought on James "Holmy" Holm, longtime producer for bellowing liberal radio host and MSNBC action hero Ed Schultz.

Schultz and Holm were venting their disgust with President Obama over a Washington Post story on Obama's willingness to cut funding for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to reach a deal with congressional Republicans on the debt ceiling.

In arguably the single most bizarre criticism of Obama I've heard from the fringe left, Holm said this on Schultz's radio show yesterday (audio) --

MSNBC: Leaning Left for 15 Long Years - A Year-by-Year Video Retrospective

By Geoffrey Dickens | July 07, 2011 | 10:13

A  A

Tonight MSNBC's cast and crew will gather in Washington D.C. to celebrate their network being on the air for 15 long years. In that time its hosts, reporters and guests have attacked conservatives and Republicans on everything from impeaching Bill Clinton and conducting a war on terrorism, up to the fight over public unions. All the while some of its reporters and hosts have been thrilled by the likes of Mikhail Gorbachev and Barack Obama.

For that entire 15 years MRC analysts have been dutifully watching and noting these often outrageous outbursts of leftism from NBC News' cable outlet.

The following collection of the worst MSNBC quotes, year-by-year, is just a sampling of the Lean Forward network's decade-and-a-half long devotion to advancing the cause of liberalism under the guise of journalism.

Ed Schultz Badly Mispronounces ‘Schlafly’ in Segment Mocking Palin and Bachmann’s IQ

By Noel Sheppard | June 22, 2011 | 00:18

A  A

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz on Tuesday badly mispronounced the last name of Constitutional lawyer and conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly.

Rather deliciously, this occurred in a segment wherein the pompous, know-it-all host was once again mocking the intellectual capacity of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin (video follows with partial transcript and commentary):

MSNBC Temporarily Shelved 'Psycho Talk' in January - Not You, Ed Schultz

By Jack Coleman | June 20, 2011 | 21:10

A  A

Even better, the source of this information is you, Ed. You of the pronounced selective memory.

On his radio show Friday, Schultz claimed he voluntarily discontinued the all-too-aptly named "Psycho Talk" segment of his MSNBC television show in January after the Tucson massacre. The segment returned to "The Ed Show" in recent weeks with little fanfare.

Here's Schultz describing his alleged decision to put the nightly two-minute hate on ice last winter (audio here) --

Ed Schultz Condemns 10 Percent Tax on New Businesses in North Dakota as 'Financial Rape'

By Jack Coleman | June 16, 2011 | 17:43

A  A

Radio talker and MSNBC rock 'em, sock 'em robot Ed Schultz has finally met a tax he doesn't like and which, go figure, affected him directly -- a 10 percent payroll tax imposed by North Dakota on new businesses for their first two years, after which it drops to a seemingly generous two percent.

Schultz, whose family owns a construction business in Fargo, N.D., says the tax has cost their business "into the thousands." His angry rant about it quickly morphed into a gratuituous excuse to bash Republican candidates for president -- you know, those diehard true-believers in higher taxes and job-killing red tape.

Here's Schultz letting loose on this during his radio show Tuesday, after complaining that GOP candidates debating in New Hampshire did not address problems facing owners of small businesses (audio here) --

Ed Schultz Claims He 'Broke the Story on Larry Craig' He Didn't Break

By Jack Coleman | June 15, 2011 | 15:59

A  A

This from a man who describes himself as "an honest broker" -- something those who actually are aren't inclined to do.

During an argument with a caller to his radio show Monday about Schultz demanding that erstwhile inveterate Twitter pic taker Anthony Weiner resign from Congress, Schultz made a claim that sounded more than a little dubious (audio here) --

Ed Schultz: Facts and Logic Have No Place in GOP - Makes Bachmann Perfect Fit

By Noel Sheppard | June 15, 2011 | 00:34

A  A

When possibly the most biased person on television questions your veracity and sanity after you appear in a Republican presidential debate, you know you've done a good job.

It is precisely for that reason Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) should be pleased with being slighted by Ed Schultz who said on the MSNBC program bearing his name Tuesday, "Facts and logic have no place in the Republican Party. That’s why Bachmann I guess you could say is the perfect fit" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Vintage Ed Schultz Whine: Why Isn't Weiner Paying 'Restitution' Like I Did After Ingraham Slur?

By Jack Coleman | June 09, 2011 | 19:31

A  A

Oh the unfairness of it all, it's more than Ed Schultz can bear.

Bad enough that embattled Democratic congressman and former habitual tweeter Anthony Weiner hasn't resigned from Congress as Schultz demands. Even worse, at least from Schultz's parochial perspective, the Weiner scandal hasn't cost its namesake a dime while Schultz paid dearly for maligning Laura Ingraham as a "right-wing slut" and "talk slut."

Within one day of Schultz's smear of Ingraham on May 24, MSNBC announced he was taking an unpaid, week-long suspension for remarks the network deemed "unacceptable."

Schultz complained to his radio listeners Tuesday about what he sees as a double standard at work (audio clip after page break) --

By Noel Sheppard | June 08, 2011 | 10:05

To a liberal media member, politics means never having to say you were wrong.

On Tuesday's "The Ed Show," Salon's Joan Walsh said she looked "kind of stupid" for defending Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) last week, then went right on defending him (video follows with transcript and commentary):

MSNBC.com on Monday accused economist Dr. Walter Williams of making racist statements during his interview with Fox News's John Stossel last week.

The charge was associated with an "Ed Show" segment in which the host disgracefully cherry-picked one of Williams' comments about welfare and slavery (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Los Angeles Radio Host Uses Witch-Hunt Logic to Defend Ed Schultz's Smear of Ingraham

By Jack Coleman | May 30, 2011 | 12:45

A  A

How about that, he's a lawyer to boot.

Angered by Ed Schultz's quick apology and suspension from MSNBC for maligning Laura Ingraham as a "right-wing slut" and 'talk slut," Los Angelese-based radio host Bill Handel has come up with a decidedly peculiar response to the controversy.

Is there "any proof that she's not" a slut, Handel asked on his KFI AM radio show.

It was such a warped take on Schultz's remarks that even Handel's presumably like-minded radio show sidekicks didn't agree with him. (audio clip below page break).

Tantaros on Schultz-Ingraham Affair: 'Hatred Towards Conservative Women is Last Acceptable Misogyny in U.S.'

By Noel Sheppard | May 28, 2011 | 16:35

Fox News contributor Andrea Tantaros might have had the best take on this week's Ed Schultz-Laura Ingraham affair.

Appearing on "Hannity" Thursday, Tantaros accurately said, "It is the last acceptable form of misogyny in this country - hatred, prejudice towards conservative females" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Female Liberal Talk-Radio Hosts Side with Ed Schultz Rant, Against Laura Ingraham

By Tim Graham | May 28, 2011 | 08:02

A  A

On Thursday, liberal talk-radio hosts Randi Rhodes and Stephanie Miller each protested the one-week suspension of MSNBC host Ed Schultz for calling Laura Ingraham a “talk slut” on his radio show. Miller said of the S-word: “So, I wear it proudly. Some right women are soooo sensitive!”

It’s understandable Randi Rhodes might think this isn’t offensive. She was suspened by Air America for yelling that Hillary Clinton was a “big f—ing whore” in 2008. But she was really upset at the Schultz apology and suspension, insisting Schultz had used the word on her, too, and neither found it offensive:

Ed Schultz's Genuine Contrition on MSNBC Preceded by Churlish Non-Apology on Radio Show

By Jack Coleman | May 27, 2011 | 20:37

A  A

It's not often Ed Schultz earns my respect, but he did with his apology  to Laura Ingraham on his MSNBC show Wednesday night, right before starting a week-long suspension.

Based on what Schultz said earlier that day on his radio show about maligning Ingraham on the program only 24 hours earlier as a "right-wing slut" and "talk slut," Schultz's mea culpa Wednesday evening was fully unexpected.

That afternoon on the radio, Schultz was defiant and defensive and claimed Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have said things just as bad and not paid a price (audio here, video clip after page break) --

By NB Staff | May 27, 2011 | 10:39

Liberal radio host Ed Schultz's May 23rd attack on conservative talker Laura Ingraham as a "slut" was "reprehensible" and "could not have been more vile," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told viewers of the May 26 "Hannity."

That said, Bozell added, he should be commended for owning up to his transgression and offering a "man's apology" Wednesday night on his MSNBC "Ed Show" program.

Ingraham: If Conservative Called Liberal Woman What Schultz Called Me He'd Be Fired

By Noel Sheppard | May 26, 2011 | 23:33

One of the startlingly inconvenient truths about America is the double standard by which conservative women can be treated by the media compared to their liberal sisters.

Having been seriously besmirched by far-left MSNBC commentator Ed Schultz earlier in the week, talk radio's Laura Ingraham discussed sexist and racist hypocrisies with Fox News's Bill O'Reilly Thursday (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Networks Skip Ed Schultz's Smearing of Laura Ingraham as a 'Right-Wing Slut,' Hyped Imus' 'Ho' Scandal

By Scott Whitlock | May 26, 2011 | 12:09

A  A

The network evening news programs on Wednesday and morning shows on Thursday skipped covering the suspension of MSNBC host Ed Shultz for trashing Laura Ingraham as a "right-wing slut." Yet, these same networks eagerly jumped all over the story of Don Imus referring to college basketball players as "hos."

On Wednesday, ABC's World News, CBS's Evening News and NBC's Nightly News avoided reporting on this May 24 remark by Schultz: "Like this right-wing slut, what's her name, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she's a talk slut." (Good Morning America, Today and Early Show did the same.) Later in the day on Wednesday, MSNBC suspended Schultz.

Ingraham Hits 'Morning Joe' for Skipping Schultz in Women in Workplace Special

By Alex Fitzsimmons | May 26, 2011 | 11:30

A  A

As first picked up by NewsBusters from Brian Maloney's Radio Equalizer blog, MSNBC anchor Ed Schultz on Tuesday demeaned conservative radio host Laura Ingraham as a "right-wing slut," prompting his indefinite suspension on Wednesday.

But on "Morning Joe" today, the panelists demonstrated their devotion to equal treatment of women in the workplace with a special, "Knowing Your Worth," which Ingraham's staff noted completely ignored Schultz's crass insults.

Humiliated Ed Schultz: ‘Laura Ingraham, I Am Sorry, Very Sorry’ for ‘Vile Language;’ Concedes He’s ‘Embarrassed’ MSNBC

By Brent Baker | May 26, 2011 | 01:26

A  A

In full retreat, a humiliated and somber Ed Schultz opened his MSNBC show on Wednesday night by apologizing to Laura Ingraham for using, on his radio show, “vile and inappropriate language” to describe her, language he did not repeat. On Tuesday, the left-wing host had slimed the conservative talk radio host as a “right-wing slut” and a “radio slut.” (After Schultz’s statement, Thomas Roberts hosted the rest of the hour.)

Schultz pleaded: “I am deeply sorry, and I apologize. It was wrong, uncalled for and I recognize the severity of what I said. I apologize to you, Laura, and ask for your forgiveness.” He added that “I also met with management here at MSNBC, and understanding the severity of the situation and what I said on the radio and how it reflected terribly on this company, I have offered to take myself off the air for an indefinite period of time with no pay.” The official NBC management statement, however, said he had agreed to “one week of unpaid leave.”

MSNBC Suspends Ed Schultz After He Calls Laura Ingraham a ‘Right-Wing Slut’

By Brent Baker | May 25, 2011 | 20:12

A  A

As first picked up before other blogs early Wednesday afternoon by NewsBusters from Brian Maloney’s Radio Equalizer blog, MSNBC host Ed Schultz, on his Tuesday radio show carried by satellite radio, slimed conservative radio host Laura Ingraham as a “right-wing slut.”

Tim Graham’s prescient noontime NB headline: “Will MSNBC Suspend Ed Schultz for Calling Laura Ingraham a 'Right-Wing Slut' and 'Talk Slut'?”

Hours later, at 5:51 PM EDT, MSNBC issued this statement:

MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpaid leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program. Ed will address these remarks on his show tonight, and immediately following begin his leave. Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

After the jump, Radio Equalizer’s audio of Schultz’s May 24 remarks.

Schultz Mocks Young, Inexperienced, Never Ran a Business, Radical Ryan - Misses Obama Irony

By Noel Sheppard | May 20, 2011 | 00:26

Ed Schultz on Thursday mocked Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) as a young, inexperienced kid who's never run a business, never had to meet payroll, and who offered up a radical plan that he doesn’t know the ramifications of.

As the host of the "Ed Show" whined, he clearly missed the irony that these very same things were said about the former junior senator from Illinois prior to Election Day 2008 (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Ed Schultz and David Sirota Clash in Regretfully Brief On-Air Argument

By Jack Coleman | May 19, 2011 | 13:38

A  A

How sad indeed when liberals turn on one another, their nastiness quickly achieving critical mass.

Radio host and columnist David Sirota wasn't expecting a call from fellow liberal and MSNBC loose-cannon Ed Schultz on his radio show yesterday, broadcast out of AM 760 in Denver.

When word filtered back to Schultz that Sirota was badmouthing him for Schultz's criticism of "intellectual liberal hand-wringing" over the manner of bin Laden's death, Schultz decided to give Sirota a call.

The result, lasting barely more than two minutes, was decidedly unpretty (audio clip below page break) --

Liberal Filmmaker Decries David Koch's $100 Million Donation to NY Theater as Attempt to 'Destroy Democracy'

By Jack Coleman | May 19, 2011 | 09:04

A  A

Liberals endlessly harp on what they perceive as conservatives' greed. What really sticks in their craw is conservatives' generosity.

An example of this occurred on Ed Schultz's radio show Monday with guest Robert Greenwald, a filmmaker specializing in left-wing agitprop at an outfit he modestly calls Brave New Films.

Greenwald was describing a website he recently created, Koch Brothers Exposed, about energy magnates David and Charles Koch. The site includes a video of protesters outside a Lincoln Center theater named after David Koch when he pledged $100 million for badly-needed renovations three years ago. The demonstrators staged a "renaming ceremony" demanding the theater shed Koch from its name.

On Monday, conservative talk radio host Mark Levin specifically called out NBC News not only for its on-air talent being "blindingly white," but also for "promoting racial division in this country" (embedded audio follows with transcript and commentary):
