Ed Schultz in 2010: Don't Vote! Ed Schultz in 2011: I Never Said Don't Vote!

By Jack Coleman | December 20, 2011 | 14:30

A  A

What a shock, more revisionism from Ed Schultz.

Schultz is responding testily to criticism that he urged Democrats in 2010 to refrain from voting to protest congressional Democrats not pushing hard enough for extended jobless benefits. (audio clips after page break)

MSNBC's Schultz Derides GOP 'Fearmongering' on Iran As Panetta Hints at Military Strike

By Brad Wilmouth | December 20, 2011 | 07:11

A  A

On Monday's The Ed Show, MSNBC host Ed Schultz accused Republican presidential candidates of "fearmongering" on the issue of the danger posed by a nuclear Iran, but, ironically, on the same day the CBS Evening News led its show with an interview with Obama administration Defense Secretary Leon Panetta who hinted at the possibility of a nuclear strike on Iran within the next year because the radical Islamic state is believed capable of assembling a nuclear bomb within that time.

As he interviewed Joe Cirincione of the Ploughshare Fund about the latest on North Korea, Schultz switched over to talking about Iran:

Revisionism Run Amok: Ed Schultz Claims Arab Spring Began in Wisconsin

By Jack Coleman | December 17, 2011 | 18:22

A  A

There are lies, damned lies, and what passes for history from Ed Schultz.

Never one to let reality intrude on his delusions, Schultz cut loose with a whopper on his radio show Thursday while talking with Mike Tate, chairman of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, about Time magazine making "The Protester" its annual person of the year (audio) --

The War on the War on Christmas

By Erin R. Brown | December 13, 2011 | 14:48

A  A

Every year, millions of Christians that celebrate the birth of their Savior are faced with the attacks on Christmas - "holiday trees," atheist ad campaigns and even outright blasphemy in mocking nativity scenes. To Christians and conservatives, the evidence is overwhelming. But in recent years, the left and the mainstream media have actively denied that the war even exists.

From the hard left gang of current and former MSNBC personalities to CNN hosts to Huffington Post writers, the watch words have been "fake" and "phony" and "ridiculous." With varying degrees ire, they've blamed Fox News and the "Christian right" for the "manufactured outrage" at attacks on Christmas.

Sheila Jackson Lee Actually Compares Bush Tax Cuts to Iranian Hostage Crisis

By Jack Coleman | December 08, 2011 | 18:10

A  A

Just think of the happy place, congresswoman, and everything will be fine.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Democrat of Texas, appearing on Ed Schultz's radio show Tuesday, made one of the most ludicrous analogies in recent memory. Listen for yourself, courtesy of audio from Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer --

Ed Schultz Claims Gingrich Wants Poor Kids Working as 'Slave Labor' in Schools

By Jack Coleman | December 07, 2011 | 19:03

A  A

Liberals worried that Newt Gingrich threatens the Obama presidency are overwrought in their criticism of Gingrich.

Examples of this occurred yesterday during a discussion on Ed Schultz's radio show between Schultz and Democrat congressman Jim McDermott, one of Saddam Hussein's most steadfast defenders in Congress. (audio clips after page break)

Mike Papantonio Compares Donald Trump to 'Banjo Boy' in 'Deliverance'

By Jack Coleman | December 05, 2011 | 21:43

A  A

Once was the time that a dutiful liberal wouldn't dare impugn the downtrodden of Appalachia. Those days are ancient history.

Mike Papantonio, a toxic attorney who co-hosts the "Ring of Fire" radio show with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Sam Seder, had this to say Friday on "The Ed Show" about Donald Trump moderating an upcoming GOP debate in Iowa (video and audio clips after page break) --

By Noel Sheppard | December 05, 2011 | 01:35

A  A

NewsBusters readers should be quite familiar with Ron Christie, the Republican strategist who loves to tangle with the liberal commentators on MSNBC.

Following his terrific encounter with Chris Matthews last week, NewsBusters spoke by phone with Christie about his experiences on the nation's most left-leaning cable news outlet as well as what it's like to be a black conservative in the year 2011 (video follows with transcript):

Anderson Cooper Smacks Down Ed Schultz for Saying 'I'm Kicking His A--'

By Noel Sheppard | December 04, 2011 | 10:52

A  A

As NewsBusters previously reported, MSNBC's Ed Schultz last week actually suggested that CNN's Anderson Cooper might have had something to do with him being named to GQ's "The 25 Least Influential People Alive" list.

On Friday's Anderson Cooper 360, the host nicely put the pathetic Schultz in his proper place - The RidicuList (video follows with transcript and absolutely no additional commentary necessary):

Ed Schultz Ducks Asking Dem Senator From Scranton Why He Ducked Obama in Scranton

By Jack Coleman | December 03, 2011 | 22:53

A  A

On his radio show yesterday, Ed Schultz asked Rich Stockwell, executive producer for "The Ed Show" on MSNBC, about their responsibility in covering Occupy protests.

Stockwell's response (audio) -- "Well, look, as journalists we need to cover this story. We need to let people know where it is, what it means, try to understand it, get people on who speak literately about it, and capture the mood of the country." (video and audio clips after page break)

Ed Schultz Questions Whether Anderson Cooper Behind GQ Putting Him on Least Influential List

By Jack Coleman | November 30, 2011 | 18:38

The magazine last week ranked Schultz in a satirical listing of "The 25 Least Influential People Alive," a tally that also included President Obama. (audio clip after page break)

By Noel Sheppard | November 24, 2011 | 10:21

A  A

As NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell accurately observed Tuesday, America's media have pounced on the University of California at Davis incident where Occupy protesters were pepper-sprayed by campus police.

Doing his part Wednesday was liberal radio host Ed Schultz who on his Thanksgiving Eve program actually equated this incident to the Rodney King beating (video follows with transcript and commentary):

By Jack Coleman | November 22, 2011 | 13:12

So much for Democrats heading into 2012 with a full head of steam. Looks like there might be concern among the party faithful that they need to raise their spirits.

Who better for that than Ed Schultz, the closest approximation you'll find on liberal radio and MSNBC to "motivational speaker" Matt Foley as portrayed by the late Chris Farley on "Saturday Night Live." (audio clips after page break)

Ed Schultz Spills: A Lot of Liberals Listen to NPR, 'Huge' in D.C., New York

By Tim Graham | November 15, 2011 | 23:19

A  A

MSNBC host and radio talker Ed Schultz gave a "What I Read" interview to The Atlantic, but the reading list was less interesting than his complaining about how talk radio is owned by conservatives: "Citadel doesn't do liberal talk radio. Bonneville doesn't do liberal talk radio. The Salem Radio Network, same thing." Of course, he admitted, If Ed Schultz owned 600 radio stations, I can guarantee you Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or any other right-wing hack job would not be on my stations. But until liberals go out and buy signals, you're not going to get a lot of liberal talk radio."

Then Schultz admitted where liberal radio is located. It's at the left end of the dial. "I don't buy that there are more conservative listeners than liberal listeners. A lot of the liberal listeners are listening to NPR. In Washington or New York City, the NPR station has huge listenership. That's where most of the liberal audience is and that's who we, the commercial liberal format, have to peel away listeners from. This industry is ideologically-driven. That's the culture of it."

Wacky Thom Hartmann: Networks Were Forbidden Since Reagan to Talk of Poverty, Inequality

By Tim Graham | November 11, 2011 | 23:55

A  A

Listening to liberal talk radio is sometimes like just listening to the world being turned upside down. Liberal hosts make claims that are demonstrably ridiculous, and expect listeners to lap it up.

Case in point: Thom Hartmann praised the Occupy Wall Street protesters for changing the media conversation. He claimed that ever since Reagan was elected, the media has forbidden any discussion of the maldistribution of wealth, as if the words "Decade of Greed" weren't a media favorite, as if the "three million homeless" weren't routinely on the lips of liberal media personalities:

Yet despite Thursday's vote by the House Energy and Commerce Committee panel to subpoena internal White House communications concerning the company, MSNBC's prime time hosts Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Ed Schultz, and Al Sharpton still haven't said one word about this scandal:

Papantonio So Unhinged By Allegations Against Cain, Even Ed Schultz Defends Him

By Jack Coleman | November 02, 2011 | 06:26

Ed Schultz used to be conservative, then jumped ship more than a decade ago and became a left winger. Yet based on his conversation Monday with attorney and radio host Mike Papantonio, Schultz's conversion appears far from complete.

The two were talking on Schultz's radio show about allegations of sexual harassment leveled against GOP candidate Herman Cain in the 1990s while he was head of the National Restaurant Association. (audio clips after page break)

Police Can't 'Deal With Peace,' Occupy Wall St.'s Ex-Marine Drama Queen Tells Ed Schultz

Perhaps you've seen it, the video of former Marine Corps sergeant Shamar Thomas accusing New York City police of brutality against Occupy Wall Street protesters.

Since the footage was posted Oct. 16 on YouTube, left-wing media have embraced Thomas as their one of their own, showering him with attention while avoiding potentially awkward questions about his background, such as Thomas's claim that his mother fought in Iraq and his father was deployed to Afghanistan.
