Ed Schultz

Unlike Conservative Media, We Don't 'Make Stuff Up' at MSNBC, Proclaims Ed Schultz

By Jack Coleman | February 23, 2013 | 14:20

A  A

Does Ed Schultz ever actually watch the cable network that employs him?

While complaining about crimes against humanity by conservatives in media, Schultz on his radio show this week depicted MSNBC as the principled epitome of accuracy and balance. (audio clip after page break)

Simpson and Bowles Are Wealthy, Old and White - And That Makes Ed Schultz Really Mad

By Jack Coleman | February 21, 2013 | 17:05

A  A

Hey, did you know that Ed Schultz used to work as a TV meteorologist? They finally let him go after one too many references to racist cloud patterns.

Yes, I'm kidding, but it's not hard to envision this actually happening. When it comes to gratuitous references to race, Schultz is unrivaled -- except for all those other liberals inclined to do likewise. (audio clips after page break)

Republicans Afraid of Appearing on Sunday Shows With Me, Brays Ed Schultz

By Jack Coleman | February 18, 2013 | 19:30

A  A

Ed Schultz seems chagrined that he rarely appears on the Sunday talk shows. Naturally, Republicans are to blame, at least as far as Schultz is concerned.

But buried inside this rant on his radio show Friday is what is likely the actual reason you seldom see Schultz on Sunday mornings. (audio clip after page break)

Schultz's Dirty Secret: Regulators 'Sheriff' Warren Scalded Are Obama Appointees

By Mark Finkelstein | February 15, 2013 | 22:10

A  A

Ed Schultz was in seventh heaven, lionizing Elizabeth Warren [new first name 'Sheriff'] for the way she grilled financial regulators for failing to take big banks to trial.

Just one teenie-weenie factoid Ed failed to mention: those two regulators he showed Warren scalding during his MSNBC show tonight were appointed by, yup, President Barack Obama.  View the video after the jump.

NBC News Reporter Stops Returning Carnival Cruise Passenger From Quoting Bible

By Noel Sheppard | February 15, 2013 | 17:53

A  A

As stranded Carnival Cruise passengers began finally disembarking in Mobile, Alabama, late Thursday evening, MSNBC had NBC News correspondent Mark Potter on the scene to speak with them.

One young lady during her over three minute interview tried to cite a Bible verse that helped her get through the ordeal, but Potter pulled his microphone away and quickly ended the discussion (video follows with transcript and commentary):

LOL: Ed Schultz Blasts Fox News Host for Being Uncivil

By Randy Hall | February 09, 2013 | 00:35

A  A

If beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, then the host of “The Ed Show” on MSNBC is definitely wearing blinders.

During the Wednesday night edition of his program, Schultz attacked Steve Doocy of the morning “Fox and Friends” show for stating that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the subject of a new website that is “showing off this glamorous new face. Face-lift, perhaps?”

Oopsy: 78 Percent of Ed Show Viewers Side Against Ed Schultz In Favor of Drones

By Tim Graham | February 08, 2013 | 15:47

A  A

Politico media writer Dylan Byers reported that Ed Schultz viewers on MSNBC are bigger Obama fans than Schultz fans. While Schultz asserted on Thursday night that "many Americans want to know how the United States can order the killings of American citizens without due process," a phone survey during the hour of his show found
78 percent said they agreed with "the policy of targeted killing of American citizens." Only 22 percent stuck with Ed.

Byers wrote, "These results may have come as a surprise to Schultz -- neither he nor MSNBC PR immediately responded to a request for his reaction -- because the results of his viewer surveys almost always align with his own progressive worldview."

Ex-Newsweek's Alter: Whole Foods CEO Is 'Throwing' His Employees 'to the Wolves'

By Brad Wilmouth | January 18, 2013 | 06:38

A  A

On Thursday's The Ed Show, MSNBC analyst Jonathan Alter -- formerly of Newsweek -- chastised Whole Foods CEO John Mackey for using the word "fascism" criticizing Obamacare, suggesting that he is less "enlightened" than liberal CEOs like Warren Buffett for not realizing that "The only reason that they have been able to be so successful is because they're operating in a country, this country, where they get all kinds of public services..."

Without informing viewers that Whole Foods employs a plan based on high deductibles and "personal savings accounts" to provide health care for all its full-time employees and about 90 percent of employees who work at least 30 hours a week, Alter went on to assert that libertarian-minded CEOs like Mackey "don't get" that they have "certain social responsibilities," and charged that Whole Foods has a "crunchy" and "earthtone ethic" regarding its employees.

Obama's Kids Used as 'Bait' in NRA Ad, Claims Hallucinatory Ed Schultz

By Jack Coleman | January 17, 2013 | 17:51

A  A

This from a man who loves to fish, so presumably he knows the purpose of "bait".

Liberals are reacting with predictable histrionics to a new National Rifle Association ad slamming President Obama as an "elitist hypocrite" for dismissing the NRA's suggestion of armed security in every school while he sends his children to a school with armed guards. NRA Akin to Terrorists, Prostitutes Sneer Unhinged Ed Schultz Guests

By Jack Coleman | January 15, 2013 | 19:51

Central liberal tenet -- in lieu of a solid argument, resort to rhetorical hyperventilation.

As you'd expected given the host's default toward bellicosity, two guests on Ed Schultz's radio show yesterday climbed over the top in shabby attempts to smear the National Rifle Association for the thought crime of defending a constitutional right. (audio clips after page break)

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz: Sandy Hook Could Be the '9/11 of Gun Violence'

By Jeffrey Meyer | January 14, 2013 | 14:41

A  A

It seems as though MSNBC’s Ed Schultz has taken Rahm Emanuel’s belief that, “you never want a serious crisis to go to waste” to heart.  Speaking on Monday prior to President Obama’s final press conference of his first term, Schultz disgustingly suggested that the tragedy at Sandy Hook could be "the 9/11 of gun violence."

Schultz, along with the rest of MSNBC have been on a gun control tirade since Sandy Hook, and used President Obama’s press conference to disgustingly use a tragedy for political purposes:

Latest Ed Schultz Whopper: 'We've Never Had a Civilian Stop a Shooting'

By Jack Coleman | January 11, 2013 | 19:57

By Jack Coleman | January 10, 2013 | 18:16

CNN's Costello: 'No One Is Talking About Overturning the Second Amendment or Confiscating Guns'; Oh Yes They Are

By Tom Blumer | January 10, 2013 | 17:59

A  A

On CNN this morning, in a quote captured by Rush Limbaugh on his program today (but predictably ignored by David Edwards covering the broadcast at Raw Story), Carol Costello told viewers that "no one is talking about overturning the Second Amendment or confiscating guns in America."

Wow. What hermetically sealed cave have you been living in during the past few weeks, Carol -- or for that matter, as Limbaugh effectively asked, where have you been during the past 4-1/2 decades? Here's some of what Rush had to say in response (bolds are mine):

NewsBusters has performed an invaluable public service -- prompting a course correction from libtalker Ed Schultz after one of the dumbest things he's said in years.

Gun Laws in Chicago 'Don't Even Exist,' Sputters Clueless Ed Schultz

By Jack Coleman | January 07, 2013 | 21:54

A  A

This isn't the self-imposed idiocy commonly exhibited by liberals, but a rarefied strain found in left-wing radio and MSNBC. Ed Schultz, standing astride both, embodies it.

Bad enough that Schultz insisted on his radio show Friday that heck no, gosh darn it, Bill Clinton was absotively, posalutely never tried in the Senate after he was impeached during the Lewinsky scandal. Clinton Not Tried in Senate After Impeachment, Ed Schultz Comically Insists

By Jack Coleman | January 07, 2013 | 18:02

A  A

Ed Schultz's grasp of American history in the BB era -- Before Barack -- is tenuous at best. And when Schultz is wrong about something from that ancient realm of our past, he makes a fool out of himself.

On his radio show Friday, Schultz got on the wrong side of an argument with a better informed caller. Naturally, Schultz couldn't resist hanging up on the man and labeling him an idiot. That's when you know Schultz is 180 degrees off the mark -- he becomes dogmatic about being right. (audio after page break)

Founding Fathers Just 'Some Dead People' Spews Ed Schultz in Anti-Second Amendment Rant

By Jack Coleman | December 17, 2012 | 16:35

A  A

Remember how liberals feigned reverence for the Constitution during its alleged wholesale destruction while George W. Bush was president? With a Democrat ensconsed in the White House, they are reverting to old habits when it comes to the blueprint for our republic.

On his radio show Friday, Schultz argued with a caller who said he usually agrees with Schultz, citing "socialized medicine" and higher taxes as examples of common ground they share. But the Second Amendment must be protected, the caller said, lest changes to it erode other freedoms enumerated in the Bill of Rights (audio) --

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz Talks Gun ‘Confiscation’

By Dan Gainor | December 16, 2012 | 08:23

A  A

Liberals always say they don’t want to take away guns. But give them an awful tragedy like the Newtown, Conn. shooting and they get bolder and more honest. MSNBC host Ed Schultz showed a rare bout of such honesty during a brief Twitter exchange Saturday. Schultz asked “Why should anyone own an assault rifle ?” and followed it up by saying “it's the confiscation of these types of weapons that counts and will have an impact.”

“The Ed Show” host wasn’t done his attack on gun rights. “The NRA needs to state the case why assault weapons are needed by anyone,” he claimed. And after that, he told one poster that “a Glock pistol qualifies as an assault weapon.” That last bit is surely a surprise to both gun owners and Congress which didn’t include handguns in its previous assault weapons ban.

Union Official Compares GOP Push for Right to Work Law in Mich. to Attack on Pearl Harbor

He who first invokes the Nazis during an argument loses, posits Godwin's Law. Allow me to introduce Cook's Corollary to Godwin's Law, whereby he who makes a patently ludicrous analogy to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor forfeits all credibility.

NYT Sports Columnist William Rhoden Wishes NFL Would Ban Gun Ownership by Players

By Clay Waters | December 05, 2012 | 12:10

A  A

On MSNBC's The Ed Show Monday night, New York Times sports columnist William Rhoden defended NBC sportscaster Bob Costas's controversial comments, made during halftime of an NFL game Sunday night, on the murder-suicide committed by Kansas City Chief player Jovan Belcher, even agreeing to the idea that the NFL commissioner try to ban players from owning guns.

Costas had quoted an anti-gun screed by sports columnist Jason Whitlock, in part: "Our current gun culture ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy, and that more convenience-store confrontations over loud music coming from a car will leave more teenage boys bloodied and dead. Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it." (Video below.)

Ed Schultz & Guest James Hoffa Outraged Over Rational Comments Made by Goldman Sachs CEO

By Ryan Robertson | November 28, 2012 | 18:12

A  A

In an interview with CBS News anchor Scott Pelley last week, Goldman Sachs chairman and CEO Lloyd Blankfein immediately brought up a highly sensitive subject that liberals in the media and highest levels of government refuse to acknowledge: entitlement spending on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are unsustainable at their current rate and need significant reform to ensure those programs exist in the future.

In response to the clip, MSNBC host Ed Schultz and Teamsters President James Hoffa were beside themselves on Tuesday night's Ed Show -- offended that Blankfein would voice such a "misinformed" view on national television. The only son of the notorious Jimmy Hoffa was ardently opposed to the idea that there is anything currently wrong with the system as is, to suggest otherwise is just "outrageous" he thundered. Schultz's Stuffing Suggestion To Boehner: 'You Can Put Some Gravy On That'

By Mark Finkelstein | November 21, 2012 | 21:51

A  A

Ah, Thanksgiving.  A time for Americans to come together, be grateful for their blessings—and tell people with different politics to stuff it?

That's apparently Ed Schultz's take on the holiday. On his MSNBC show this evening, gloating over his presumption that taxes will be going up on the top 2%, Schultz sent this warm 'n fuzzy message to John Boehner: "think about it over your turkey and stuffing Speaker Boehner. And by the way, you can put some gravy on that--and you know the rest of the sentence."  View the video after the jump.

Video: 'Radio Equalizer' Brian Maloney Discusses Left-wing Radio Hate on 'Hannity'

By Ken Shepherd | November 16, 2012 | 18:37

A  A

Our good friend Brian Maloney of the Radio Equalizer blog appeared on Wednesday's edition of Hannity to discuss left-wing radio hosts and their hateful rhetoric about conservatives.

Even though their ratings are paltry compared to conservative talk radio, it's vitally important to shine a light on their hate and criticize it, Maloney argued. "Pay attention to what they're saying, because often times what you hear on these shows ends up on the smear left websites, etc." and motivates the left-wing base to show up on election day.
