Drew Carey Says Libertarians Can ‘Get Away’ in Hollywood, but Conservatives Pretty Much ‘Doomed’

By Anthony Kang | March 20, 2010 | 21:52

According to actor and comedian Drew Carey, Hollywood is not the intolerant blackballing liberal utopia many deem it to be. In fact, Hollywood is very accepting of the right-wing crowd - except for that fringe, radical segment known as conservatives.

"In Hollywood, you can pretty much get away with being a libertarian," Carey told John Stossel on the Fox Business Network. "But if you're a conservative you're kind of doomed."

Carey was a featured guest on "Stossel" March 18, dissecting the economic calamities surrounding his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio (anointed Forbes' new “Most Miserable City” ), and to provide the perspective of an aspiring businessman.

"Now you're a libertarian right?" Stossel asked. "Has that slowed your career?"

Liberal Bias on CBS Game Show with Drew Carey?

By Tim Graham | September 25, 2007 | 06:18

Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts wondered about game-show bias in their Washington Post gossip column "The Reliable Source" on Tuesday, Drew Carey’s game show in prime time on CBS that asks contestants to guess about polling questions they’ve asked the public:

We always thought Drew Carey was a Republican, but the comedian took a potshot at Jenna Bush during CBS's "Power of 10" game show Sunday night. Carey, who performed at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in 2002, asked a contestant to guess what percentage of American men would not want to be the president's son-in-law. The upside, said Carey: Free rides on Air Force One, dinner at the White House, great networking. "But then, you have to be married to Jenna Bush," he snarked.

I’ve also seen the show’s pollsters ask a contestant to guess what percentage of respondents thought they would get shot by Dick Cheney in a duel, so this isn’t the first time they’ve tweaked the Bush administration.

Is ABC Committing Sexual Discrimination With All Female ‘View'?

By Noel Sheppard | July 27, 2007 | 10:03

Yale law professor Ian Ayres raised a very interesting question Tuesday: Is ABC possibly committing sexual discrimination by only hiring women as hosts on the daily coffee klatch "The View?"

Great question, wouldn't you agree?

In an article posted at Balkanization blog (h/t Ann Althouse via Glenn Reynolds), Ayres began his analysis of this issue by first looking at the recent announcement that comedian Drew Carey would be the new host of the "The Price is Right."

His concern was raised when former "Price" host Bob Barker said the following last month:
