No Social Conservatives on CBS's List of 'Eye-Opening Women'

By Matthew Balan | March 04, 2013 | 16:41

A  A

On Monday, CBS This Morning launched a week-long set of interviews for Women's History Month, but the majority of the women they picked for their list of "Eye Opening Women" are dedicated liberals, particularly on social issues. The morning newscast first conducted a fawning interview of former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who was part of the Supreme Court plurality that upheld the Roe v. Wade decision in 1992's Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

Five out of the eight remaining women featured for the series of interviews are all notables on the left side of the political spectrum. On Tuesday, anchors Charlie Rose and Norah O'Donnell will interview The Daily Beast's Tina Brown and Arianna Huffington, founder of far-left website The Huffington Post. Brown has a history of attacking conservatives. During a 2011 appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe program, she likened tax hike opponents to terrorists:

By Noel Sheppard | January 31, 2013 | 10:38

A  A

Jay Leno made a very interesting observation Wednesday night regarding the confirmation of John Kerry as Secretary of State.

Commenting during his Tonight Show monologue, the host said, "John Kerry is the first white male to hold that job since 1997."

WaPo Furthers Liberal Media’s ‘Racist’ Narrative at RNC: ‘Republican Party is White, Aging, & Dying Off’

By Ryan Robertson | August 30, 2012 | 16:39

A  A

The liberal media can’t seem to help themselves. While counter-arguments are occasionally acknowledged, most journalists of the progressive persuasion are not interested in fair and balanced coverage of politics. Facts and figures are seemingly subjective in the whole scheme of things. Severely limited studies and polls seem to provide them with all the information they need. Oh, and almost everything is racist.

The Washington Post has been one of most reliable offenders, as far as daily publications are concerned. For example, Rosalind Helderman, Jon Cohen and Aaron Blake collaborated on a report that was published today suggesting the “Republican Party base is white, aging and dying off.” This is according to an “extensive analysis" by David Bositis of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.

Chris Matthews Ridiculously Asks Condoleezza Rice About Birtherism

By Jeffrey Meyer | August 30, 2012 | 14:16

A  A

Following Condoleezza Rice’s inspirational convention speech, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews decided to hurl a ridiculous question about birtherism to the former Secretary of State.

Continuing with the racist narrative on MSNBC, Mr. Matthews decided to ignore the crux of Ms. Rice’s speech and instead drag up an issue that numerous Republicans have disavowed since the beginning.

Chris Matthews: RNC Message Is A Return To Slavery

By Jeffrey Meyer | August 30, 2012 | 12:22

A  A

For months, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews has been on a near-daily if not daily tirade accusing the Republican Party of using dog-whistle racist tactics to defeat President Obama.  Since the start of the Republican National Convention, Matthews has amped up his racial hyperbole to 11 by overtly claiming the Republican Party wants to return to a time when slavery was legal.

Matthews’ insulting comments came roughly 12 hours after former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke at the GOP convention.  Appearing on The Daily Rundown, Matthews tried to paint Ms. Rice as an outlier in a party hostile to minorities.   [See video below.  MP3 audio here.]

Chris Matthews Hints Ryan's 'Very Nasty' Speech Was Directed to Racists

By Matthew Balan | August 30, 2012 | 01:01

A  A

Minutes after Paul Ryan finished his RNC speech on Wednesday, MSNBC's Chris Matthews slammed the Republican vice presidential candidate for supposedly ignoring blacks during his "very constricted, very negative, very nasty speech," and suggested that he was directing the address to racists: "It's clear that Paul Ryan was talking to people who think about rights as something...produced by Thomas Jefferson, ignoring the people for whom the rights only came in the 1960s."

Matthews added that "for some reason, they never mentioned those things, because they're talking to people - let's be honest about this - who didn't feel – the benefit, at all, from those civil rights, and I think that's very important to point out." [audio available here; video below the jump]

On NBC: Williams and Brokaw Use Condi Rice Speech to Depict Republicans as Narrow-Minded

By Geoffrey Dickens | August 30, 2012 | 00:23

A  A

On NBC’s live Wednesday coverage of the GOP convention both Brian Williams and Tom Brokaw used Condoleezza Rice's speech to paint the GOP delegation as close-minded on immigration, education reform and Barack Obama’s background. Right after the former Secretary of State's speech, Williams snarked: "Portions of that speech could have been delivered at next week [DNC] gathering in North Carolina. Some candid talk to tepid applause on immigration." He then added that Rice made the "rare utterance at a GOP convention of the American truism that zip code determines education in our country."

For his part, Brokaw took a shot at the GOP crowd as he chided: "What was so striking to me was one other line that she had: 'It does not matter where you come from it matters where you are going.' Well to a lot of delegates, on this floor, it does matter where President Obama came from. Because they've been very critical of his Kenyan father, who had a different faith than many of them would embrace and they've raised lots of questions about where his ultimate loyalty is." (video after the jump)

Updated: Save for Gov. Nikki Haley, MSNBC Omits Coverage From Minority Speakers at 'Racist' RNC Convention

By Matt Vespa | August 29, 2012 | 00:27

A  A

Update/Correction: MSNBC aired South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's speech. Haley is Indian-American. | A funny thing happened on race-obsessed MSNBC tonight. The liberal network failed to give viewers coverage of the speakers who happen to be member of racial minorities.  As Francesca Chambers, Editor of Red Alert Politics, reported on August 28th:

When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas’ speech.

Nation Magazine: 'Condi Rice's Membership at Augusta National Is Nothing to Celebrate'

By Noel Sheppard | August 21, 2012 | 08:57

A  A

MSNBC's Ed Schultz isn't the only liberal media member disappointed with Augusta National Golf Club's announcement that it's admitting two women including Condoleezza Rice as members.

The Nation magazine actually published a piece Monday titled "Condi Rice's Membership at Augusta National Is Nothing to Celebrate":

Ed Schultz: Augusta Should Have Admitted Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton Instead of Condi Rice

By Noel Sheppard | August 20, 2012 | 21:23

A  A

The Augusta National Golf Club did an amazing thing Monday: it finally admitted women as members, with one of them being African-American Condoleezza Rice.

But that wasn’t good enough for MSNBC’s Ed Schultz who whined on his program later that evening that Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton should have received this honor instead (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Republican VP Short List = Nasty Media Hit List

By Kyle Drennen | August 08, 2012 | 12:13

A  A

In just a matter of days, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney will announce his choice for his 2012 running mate. No matter who Romney picks, however, the liberal media's line of attack is already clear. The Media Research Center reviewed news coverage of several potential picks, and found many have already been caricatured as too far right or outside the mainstream.

Leno: Condi 'Perfect Choice Because of the Fact She’s a Woman and She’s Black'

By Noel Sheppard | July 14, 2012 | 13:18

A  A

NBC Tonight Show host Jay Leno took what some might call a cheap shot at presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and Condoleezza Rice Friday.

After he mentioned the rumor about the former Secretary of State being considered for vice presidential nominee, a mock ad for "Rice and Romney: The New American Treat" was aired which included the lyric, "She’s the perfect choice because of the fact she’s a woman and she’s black" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Liberal Radio Host Glad Breitbart's Dead, Would Pour Weed Killer on His Grave

By Rusty Weiss | March 06, 2012 | 17:26

A  A

A few days ago, conservative author Ann Coulter summed up the left's reaction to the death of Andrew Breitbart with this statement:  "Even in death he shows liberals in their true colors".  With that, those true colors, the same rage and venom being spewed in Breitbart's direction, continues.

Last week, we saw Rolling Stone publish a piece in which author Matt Taibbi lamented how happy he was for Breitbart to be gone.  We saw Slate columnist, Matt Yglesias, proclaim that "the world outlook is slightly improved" with Breitbart dead.  And then there was former editor of the New York Press, and Taibbi cohort, Jeff Koyen, mock writers defending Breitbart as "hitching yourself to a corpse".

Continuing in that same vein of sub-standard decency is liberal radio host, John "Sly" Sylvester of WTDY in Madison, Wisconsin.  Sylvester recently aired a 20-minute segment on his radio show which was posted as a Podcast entitled, "Andrew Breitbart:  Dead (thankfully)".

Scarborough Takes on Colin Powell: Him Going on TV to Defend Himself Means Cheney Was Right About Heads Exploding

By Noel Sheppard | August 29, 2011 | 11:36

A  A

The liberal media are predictably gushing over Colin Powell's supposed rebuke of Dick Cheney on Sunday's "Face the Nation."

Bucking the trend was Joe Scarborough Monday who on the MSNBC program bearing his name said Powell going on "Face the Nation" to defend himself proved Cheney right about heads exploding over his new book (video follows with transcript and commentary):

AP Parrots Henry Waxman's Lie About the Still-True 'Sixteen Words'

By Tom Blumer | December 21, 2008 | 01:52

A  A

It seems that some in Congress are so upset that our troops and their president have achieved what looks like victory in Iraq to seasoned, on-the-ground observers like Michael Yon that they feel compelled to get in their final digs to somehow discredit the war's legitimacy.

One such congressman is Democrat Henry Waxman of California (image originally found at the Washington Post), whose Committee on Oversight and Government Reform decided to re-hash the famous "sixteen words" President Bush used in his January 2003 State of the Union Speech ("The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa").

The conclusion of Waxman's 10-page Memorandum (a PDF at this link) begins by saying:

John Harwood Has Never Seen This Cartoon

By Mark Finkelstein | July 16, 2008 | 08:03

A  A

How insulated is the MSM? In how much of a liberal cocoon does it exist? For an answer, consider the vile cartoon displayed here.  My guess is that the great majority of NewsBusters readers are familiar with it.  But John Harwood—of the New York Times and CNBC—has never seen it.

That became clear on today's Morning Joe. The topic was the TV comedy world's double-standard, in which Republicans are regularly skewered but the laff factory suddenly shuts down when it comes to mocking Barack.  A New York Times article on the matter was the jumping off point, and Joe Scarborough had a field day ridiculing lefty comedians' hypocrisy in piously claiming to "speak truth to power."  The truth, said Scarborough, is that the comedians lay off Obama not because there's nothing funny about him, but because they're "in the tank" for the Dem candidate.

Towards the end of the segment came this stunning exchange:
