Media Mash with Brent Bozell: Japan Tsunami Edition

By NB Staff | March 18, 2011 | 10:53

A  A

The liberally-biased mainstream media didn't let a catastrophe go to waste, using the Japanese tsunami as an opportunity to suggest, falsely, that Republicans would like to cut the budget for NOAA in such a way that would threaten the Pacific tsunami warning system.

Bozell to NPR Oversight Committees: Vivian Schiller Resignation 'Doesn't Change a Thing'

By Brent Bozell | March 09, 2011 | 15:30

A  A

Managing Editor's Note:  NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center president Brent Bozell sent a letter to the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate committees with oversight of NPR stating that PBS does not deserve a dime of taxpayer funding and that a government that is broke should not be in the business of funding a left-wing playground.

March 3 'Media Mash': Media Celebrate Leftist Blogger, Runaway Wisconsin Democrats

By NB Staff | March 04, 2011 | 12:15

A  A

Leftist blogger Ian Murphy is "a liar who broke every rule of journalism," with his phone call to Gov. Scott Walker in which he pretended to be conservative donor David Koch, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told the audience of last night's "Hannity."

The Media Research Center founder was reacting to CNN having practically promoted Murphy's prank by awarding him the title "Most Intriguing Person of the Day" on February 24 and by plugging his website, BuffaloBeast.com, on air.

Had Murphy been a CNN employee, he'd have been fired for his unethical and highly partisan manuever, Bozell noted, citing none other than CNN's own media reporter/critic Howard Kurtz. What's more, Bozell added, the media have been silent about Murphy's rabid left-wing rantings in the past, such as in 2008 when he wrote a piece entitled, "F**k the Troops" in Iraq.

Media Mash: Wis. Protest Edition; Bozell and Hannity Analyze Media's Bias, Double Standards

By NB Staff | February 25, 2011 | 11:53

A  A

"It's like they have the same writer!" Fox News' Sean Hannity marveled after watching a montage of liberal journalists comparing the labor union protests in Madison, Wisconsin, with the anti-Mubarak demonstrations weeks ago in Cairo.

"Sean, this is really goofy. These reporters should be embarrassed," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell agreed on last night's "Hannity."

"If you want to find a comparison, I'll give you a comparison. What do Mubarak, Qadhafi, and the Democratic legislators have in common?" the Media Research Center founder asked Hannity, answering with the punchline, "They're all in hiding."

Bozell Tackles Media Bias in Wis. Protest Coverage, Slams Media for Ignoring Docs Handing Out Fraudulent Sick Notes

By NB Staff | February 21, 2011 | 13:30

A  A

"The mainstream media was late to the party when it came to covering" the Wisconsin budget protests, Fox Business Network's Stuart Varney noted as he introduced NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell earlier today on the February 21 edition of "Varney & Co."

But are the media now skewing coverage in favor of the perspective of the public sector labor unions, Varney asked.

Most certainly they are, Media Research Center founder Bozell answered.

Bozell on 'Fox & Friends' Discussing Wisconsin, 'Hannity' Tackling Federal Budget Bias

By NB Staff | February 19, 2011 | 16:32

A  A

NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell appeared on Friday's 'Fox & Friends' to discuss the media's lack of interest in uncivil rhetoric from left-leaning labor unions massing in Madison, Wisconsin over the past few days.

Some protesters' signs have depicted Republican Gov. Scott Walker as Hitler, others as recently-deposed Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak. Some even depict crosshairs over Walker's face.

Yet the media have done virtually nothing to expose let alone criticize the inciteful rhetoric.

Bozell Reacts to AOL Buyout of Huffington Post on 'Fox & Friends'

By NB Staff | February 11, 2011 | 18:21

A  A

On Friday's "Fox & Friends," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell and Fox News host Steve Doocy discussed the recent sale of the liberal Huffington Post blog to AOL.

"I'm going to buy popcorn, I'm going to watch this meltdown," a gleeful Bozell told Doocy.

Huffington, who will be editor-in-chief for the new AOL venture, is "not going to get along with anybody," perpetually clashing with AOL executives, Bozell predicted. "It's going to be a complete meltdown, just you watch."

February 10 'Media Mash': Bozell Reacts to AOL Buyout of Huffington Post

By NB Staff | February 11, 2011 | 12:14

"AOL giving control to Arianna Huffington. How the mighty have fallen!" NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell quipped on the February 10 edition of FNC's "Hannity."

"Ten years ago, AOL had 30 million members, they were joining forces with the Time-Warner colossus," the Media Research Center founder noted. Now "they're down to 4 million members and they're at Motel 6 getting into bed with Arianna."

"It's a mess of an organization and they're going to make an even greater mess of it with Arianna. I promise you that," Bozell told Hannity during the program's "Media Mash" segment.

Brent Bozell Excoriates Chris Matthews on 'Fox & Friends' for Comparing Muslim Brotherhood to Tea Party

By Alex Fitzsimmons | February 05, 2011 | 11:45

A  A

"He's shameless, isn't he?" asked FNC's Steve Doocy, co-host of "Fox & Friends, about MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews, who recently compared the Muslim Brotherhood to the Tea Party.

"Chris Matthews is not a journalist," replied MRC President Brent Bozell. "He's a parody of himself."

On the February 4 "Fox & Friends," the NewsBusters publisher acknowledged that while most of the coverage surrounding the crisis in Egypt has been relatively "fair and honest," there have been a few notable "blips."

NewsBusters Publisher Bozell Discusses Biased Reporting of Egypt Protests on 'Fox & Friends'

By NB Staff | February 04, 2011 | 19:02

A  A

Overall the coverage of the ongoing protests against Hosni Mubarak in Egypt has been pretty good, but it's when journalists get around to offering their analysis that bias has crept in, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox News's Steve Doocy on the February 4 "Fox & Friends."

Case in point, MSNBC's Chris Matthews comparing the Muslim Brotherhood with the Tea Party movement.

"Mr. Bozell, he's shameless, isn't he?" Doocy asked.

'Media Mash': Egypt Protest Edition

By NB Staff | February 04, 2011 | 11:57

A  A

"These reporters are going to eat their words in a big way,"  NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell predicted on last night's "Hannity" regarding the mainstream media personalities who have credited President Obama with the popular uprising against dictator Hosni Mubarak in Egypt:

What happens when the government crumbles? What happens when this country is reduced to utter anarchy? What happens when the killings begin and the death begins? Are they still going to credit Barack Obama's soaring oratory for that, or are they going to separate them? What happens if an Islamic caliphate takes over? Are they going to credit his soaring oratory at that point? No they won't.

Indeed, Fox News host Sean Hannity noted during the February 3 "Media Mash" segment, the media have glossed over the radicalism of the Islamic Brotherhood, portraying the Islamist movement as a benign force for democratic reform, not as an extremist group that would impose sharia law in Egypt.

MRC's Bozell Blasts Media Coverage of Obama SOTU on Friday's 'Fox & Friends'

By NB Staff | January 28, 2011 | 18:46

A  A

When Republican presidents in years past delivered their State of the Union addresses, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell noted this morning, "no sooner had the words, 'God bless America,' left their lips than the analysts were there... just pouncing on them, pointing out any discrepancy, pointing out any controversy, ridiculing any mistake."

Now "along comes Barack Obama, and the same outlets, now they have this national, maybe international fainting spell," Bozell complained to Fox News Channel's Steve Doocy on Friday's "Fox & Friends."

Bozell Statement on Olbermann Firing

By Brent Bozell | January 24, 2011 | 12:00

A  A

Editor's Note: The following is a brief statement released by NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center (MRC) president Brent Bozell earlier today regarding MSNBC firing Keith Olbermann.

It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Olbermann was a failure because he was vicious, insulting and off-the-charts liberal. And they replaced him with Lawrence O'Donnell, who is Olbermann but without talent. It is absolutely guaranteed that MSNBC will sink even lower. This network is clueless.

Media Trumpet Flawed ObamaCare Cost Estimates, Bozell Sets Record Straight on Fox

By Alex Fitzsimmons | January 22, 2011 | 16:41

A  A

Editor's Note: The initial post included an incorrect video embed. The correct video has now been inserted. We apologize for the error.

While mainstream media outlets repeatedly fail to question flawed health care cost estimates, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell exposed the biased coverage on the January 21 "Fox & Friends."

"This proves why they're not the mainstream media," asserted Bozell, referring to journalists such as ABC's George Stephanopoulos, who claimed that since the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is "the only game in town," that makes them the "referees" on all budgetary matters. "If they were the mainstream media they would be reporting the story accurately."

The founder and president of the Media Research Center revealed what Stephanopoulos and other liberal journalists ignored: "All the CBO can do is crunch the numbers they're given. If the numbers they're given are faulty, then the report is going to be faulty. And guess what? When you look at the numbers that were given, they are a joke."

On 'Hannity,' MRC's Bozell Demands Feds Investigate MTV's 'Skins' for Possibly Violating Child Porn Laws

By NB Staff | January 21, 2011 | 17:21

MTV's racy new teen drama "Skins" should be investigated by federal authorities for potentially violating child porn laws, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center president Brent Bozell insisted in the second half of the "Media Mash" segment on the January 20 edition of "Hannity."

MTV "broadcast[s] the fact that it is underage teenagers that they are putting on the air" portraying sexually active teens. "Guess what... it's rated TV-MA. That's the highest rating you can get on television," Bozell noted [video follows after page break; click here for MP3 audio]:

Special 'Mega Edition' of 'Media Mash' Tackles Bill Maher, ObamaCare, Ron Reagan Claiming Father Had Alzheimer's in Office

By NB Staff | January 21, 2011 | 12:10

A  A

The attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords could have been averted if America had government-run health care, according to left-wing comedian Bill Maher.

That's just the first instance of liberal media advocacy that NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center president Brent Bozell touched in the January 20 "Media Mash" segment on FNC's "Hannity" program.

"This is the desperation that they're in to sell ObamaCare, that they know the American people don't want," Bozell argued.

MRC's Bozell Shares Thoughts on Civil Political Discourse on C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal'

By NB Staff | January 14, 2011 | 18:13

A  A

Earlier this morning, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center (MRC) president Brent Bozell sat down with C-SPAN's Libby Casey for an interview on "Washington Journal."

Among other topics, Bozell addressed media coverage of the Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Arizona) shooting.

"Where's the harm in having this discussion about civil discourse?" Casey asked Bozell.

"I think it's a very good discussion, don't get me wrong.... But don't tie it to what happened [in Arizona]," Bozell answered. "Don't say it's because Sarah Palin and the crosshairs [on her PAC's targeted midterm race map]."

Hannity, Bozell Discuss Hate-filled Rhetoric From Lefties like Ed Schultz, Montel Williams That Media Have Ignored

By NB Staff | January 14, 2011 | 11:46

A  A

"Rush Limbaugh needs to choke to death on his own fat," deranged left-wing radio show host Mike Malloy hissed on his February 18, 2009 program.

Michele Bachmann should "slit [her] wrist!" Montel Williams told his Air America radio show audience in September 2009.

"We ought to rip [Dick Cheney's heart] out and kick it around and stuff it back in him," MSNBC's Ed Schultz blustered on his February 24, 2010 radio program.

Those are just three examples of left-wing hate that the mainstream media haven't denounced while accusing conservatives like Sarah Palin of engendering violence in the wake of the Rep. Gabrielle Giffords shooting.

"Have you ever heard any reporter... denounce these examples?" NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell asked Fox News' Sean Hannity after watching the montage during last night's "Media Mash" segment on "Hannity."

Video: MRC's Bozell Addresses Left's History of Politicizing Tragedies

By NB Staff | January 12, 2011 | 14:13

A  A

Jared Loughner was in no way a conservative or inspired by alleged conservative talk show "hate," yet the media have been quick to blame conservative talk radio and Sarah Palin for his assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Arizona), all in an effort to delegitimize and demonize the conservative movement.

This stands in stark contrast to how the media have been silent on the real political motivations of crazed left-wingers, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell noted on the January 11 "700 Club."

Media Mash: Bozell and Hannity Take On Slanted Media Coverage of GOP Congress, ObamaCare Repeal Vote

By NB Staff | January 07, 2011 | 13:33

A  A

Appearing on FNC's Hannity on Thursday, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center President Brent Bozell slammed left-wing media coverage of the incoming Republican Congress, from ABC's Good Morning America bashing John Boehner while praising Nancy Pelosi, to all three networks dismissing a scheduled vote to repeal ObamaCare as simply "a fool's errand."

In 2007, Good Morning America called then incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "galvanized steel with a smile," but blasted John Boehner as "harshly partisan" and "the weeper of the House" in 2011. Bozell wondered why the program never questioned the "dishonest smile" of Pelosi since it seemed to concerned with analyzing Boehner's emotions.

Following a series of clips of NBC, ABC, and CBS all labeling a vote by House Republicans to repeal ObamaCare a waste of time, Bozell observed that the November election was "all about the American people repudiating this unconstitutional power grab." He added that the media coverage was "the beginning of the spin control." [Audio available here]

On Fox & Friends, MRC's Bozell Blasts NPR As Part of 'Intolerant Left'

By Kyle Drennen | January 07, 2011 | 12:07

A  A

Appearing on FNC's Fox & Friends on Friday, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center president Brent Bozell reacted to the resignation of National Public Radio executive Ellen Weiss and credited the incoming Republican Congress: "NPR is hearing footsteps, their hearing the footsteps of Republicans, who are saying...what in the world are we doing spending hundreds of millions of dollars a year on this network that is completely unnecessary."

As NewsBusters' Tim Graham earlier reported, an internal review of NPR's firing of news analyst and Fox News contributor Juan Williams led to Weiss being forced out.

In addition, Bozell predicted that despite the resignation of Weiss, NPR would soon returned to its biased coverage. He explained: "This is the face of the intolerant left today...these people are utterly intolerant of any position other than their radical agenda and they will kneecap you, including their own, Juan Williams, if you do anything such as appear on Fox News." December 16 Media Mash: Media Gush Over Clinton Briefing Room Appearance, Media Ignore Dem Saying 'F*** the President'

By NB Staff | December 17, 2010 | 11:55

Before the media got thrills and chills over Obama, they were enthralled with Bill Clinton. They still have that lovin' feeling for him to this day, judging by their reaction to President Clinton's return to the White House briefing room lectern on December 10.

"This was really a bad moment for Obama. I don't think he realized just how much the media love Bill Clinton," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell observed during the "Media Mash" segment of the December 16 edition of Fox News Channel's "Hannity."

On FNC, Tantaros Cites Bozell, MRC on Time’s Stengel Defending WikiLeaks

By Brad Wilmouth | December 12, 2010 | 03:28

A  A

On Saturday’s Fox News Watch, during a discussion of whether WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange should be prosecuted under the Espionage Act, panel member and conservative columnist Andrea Tantaros cited the Media Research Center - parent organization to NewsBusters - as she paraphrased the most recent Bozell Column and its reaction to Time magazine editor Richard Stengel’s defense of Assange. Tantaros:

The editor of Time magazine told Charlie Rose on PBS that he thought that Assange was an idealist, and he went on in this letter in Time magazine to say that it's not our job - the media's - to protect the interests in that way, meaning national security. And Brent Bozell, the Media Research Center wisely pointed out, it's very different, though, when journalists are captured. The government doesn't take that stance.

Moments later, Tantaros noted the double standard in the left’s treatment of the Valerie Plame CIA leak, and Jim Pinkerton of the New America Foundation brought up the Climategate leak of documents from East Anglia University:

MRC's Bozell Dissects the Media's Tax Spin on December 10 'Fox & Friends'

By NB Staff | December 10, 2010 | 15:35

A  A

Recent news media coverage of the tax debate in Congress borrows heavily from misleading liberal Democratic talking points, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told viewers of today's edition of "Fox & Friends."

"Eighty percent of the time, the media have it wrong," the Media Research Center founder noted, referring to an MRC study on coverage of the debate on whether or not to extend the Bush tax cuts set to expire at the end of 2010. Many mainstream media journalists have been portraying the congressional Republican position to be advocating tax cuts, rather than what it really is: keeping tax rates at their current levels, thus preventing a tax increase.

"The fact of the matter is we are broke because our spending is out of control, it's not our taxes [being too low]," Bozell complained regarding the media portraying extending the about-to-expire Bush tax cuts as "costing" the government money.

Bozell, Hannity Tackle Media Misrepresentation of Tax Debate on December 9 'Media Mash' Segment

By NB Staff | December 10, 2010 | 11:41

A  A

"This is journalistic insanity," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell protested after watching a montage of liberal journalists misrepresenting the tax policy debate before Congress.

"There is no tax cut going on here at all.... What we're talking about is preventing a tax increase, a tax increase which, by the way,  economists are saying, is going to throw this country into a double-dip recession," the Media Research Center (MRC) founder reminded viewers of the "Media Mash" segment on the December 9 "Hannity."
