Media Mash: Bozell, Hannity Note How Media Loved Left-wing 111th Congress, Despised Conservative House in 112th

By NB Staff | January 04, 2013 | 12:25

A  A

The way the news media fawned over the Democratic 111th Congress -- which passed the wildly unpopular ObamaCare -- while smearing the Republican House in the 112th is like a bad Saturday Night Live skit, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Sean Hannity on the January 3 edition of his eponymous Fox News Channel program.

"Look, what they're saying is, when the Democrats were in charge with the 111th Congress they did all these things moving the agenda to the left, and, oh happy days, look at all the wonderful left-wing things they did," Bozell noted, but then, "The112th Congress comes around and Republicans try to put a stop to the madness and it's called tyrannical." Bozell Talks Fiscal Cliff on Fox: Where's the Focus on the 'Fiscal Insanity' In DC?

By NB Staff | December 27, 2012 | 13:22

A  A

MRC founder and president Brent Bozell appeared on the Fox Business Network on Thursday to address the gridlock in Congress over a fiscal-cliff deal. Varney suggested it was “hard-core conservatives” like Bozell who would be blamed if there is no agreement. Bozell insisted there's no focus on spending cuts, only on taxes.

Bozell slammed the "absolute dishonesty on both sides. No one wants to address the fiscal insanity that’s going on in Washington, DC.” Varney also asked Brent for his opinion on the coverage of the pro-Obama media (video below):

Bozell, Hannity Review Worst Media Bias of 2012; MSNBC's Harris-Perry Takes Cake with Slam of Founding Fathers

By NB Staff | December 18, 2012 | 12:21

A  A

"The blame America crowd has come back, but it's become far more militant. It's the hate America crowd," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell noted on the December 17 edition of Hannity. Bozell was reacting to a now infamous clip from her eponymous July 1 program when MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry trashed the Founding Fathers. "The land on which they formed this Union was stolen. The hands with which they built this nation were enslaved," she noted.

Perry's "footnote for the Fourth of July" was judged by a panel of media bias experts to be the 2012 Quote of the Year. Bozell, the founder and president of the Media Research Center, was in studio with Sean Hannity for a special year-ending "Media Mash" segment devoted to the worst in liberal media bias from this year. Naturally, Harris-Perry's MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews made the cut for his openly admitting that he was glad Hurricane Sandy gave President Obama a much needed boost at the tail-end of the campaign, a remark for which he later apologized on air. Bozell: Media Obsessed with Supposed Tea Party Incivility Deliberately Ignoring Actual Union Thug Violence in Michigan

By Ken Shepherd | December 14, 2012 | 13:30

A  A

The same media that were "obsessive about the need for civility in the American public conservation" is deliberately ignoring the utter lack of civility, and worse, violence, from the left as evidenced by union thug violence this past week in Lansing, Michigan, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell argued on the December 13 Hannity program.

"What is key here is that reporters were there. That scene is crawling with journalists. They're all there. They're seeing it with their own eyes. It's not like they missed the story, it's not like they didn't have the footage, it's not like nobody told them about it," the founder and president of the Media Research Center noted on the weekly "Media Mash" segment. "They were there, they saw it. And still, they withheld it from the public," Bozell noted, going on to call for peaceful Tea Party protests of media censorship outside the headquarters of the major networks: [Watch the full segment below the page break]

Bozell: Liberal Media Are 'Unelected Lobbyists' for Tax Hikes, More Spending

By NB Staff | December 07, 2012 | 12:12

A  A

Cokie Roberts and other outspoken liberal journalists are "unelected lobbyists" in the very same sense that they charge Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist is. "From her perch at ABC News," as an ostensible journalist, Roberts is agitating for tax hikes, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell observed on the December 6 edition of Fox News Channel's Hannity. Rather than reporting the news regarding the fiscal cliff proposals by both the president and the Republicans, Roberts and other liberal journalists are cheerleading for the president's tax-and-spend plan.

The founder and president of the Media Research Center, Mr. Bozell was on Hannity for the popular weekly "Media Mash" segment. You can watch it in the video embed below the page break:

Media Ignoring Real Story of Fiscal Cliff, Bozell, Varney Agree: Dems, Obama Refuse to Budge on Spending, Entitlements

By NB Staff | November 30, 2012 | 18:45

A  A

"A massive tax increase, no entitlement reform, and no restraint on borrowing," is what President Obama is demanding Republicans sign off on, Fox Business Network's Stuart Varney noted on Friday's Varney & Co. That's precisely why the Democratic plan is not in any way a serious plan, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell agreed. The only thing is the media absolutely refuse to paint the president as intransigent and bullheaded for his opposition to spending cuts, much less entitlement reform.

Over the past two years we've heard ad nauseam that we need spending cuts and tax hikes as a "balanced" approach to the budget. But now, the Media Research Center founder noted, "we've got the Senate saying that the one problem, entitlements, is now off the table" while the "White House [is] saying we don't have any plans to cut anything." "In other words, there is no plan, that should be the story," Bozell added, not this phony meme that Republican opposition to tax hikes is to blame for a stalemate. [watch the full segment below]

Bozell, Hannity Discuss MSNBC's Desperate Attempt to Smear Susan Rice Critics As Racist

By NB Staff | November 30, 2012 | 13:05

A  A

Attempts by liberal MSNBC pundits like Touré and Richard Wolffe to dismiss conservative criticisms of Amb. Susan Rice as racially-motivated are evidence of the "militant, radical Left flexing its muscles" post-Obama reelection, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Sean Hannity on the "Media Mash" segment of the Fox News host's November 29 program.

"Where were" liberal journalists when "Clarence Thomas was smeared in his confirmation hearings" or "with Allen West in Florida?" Bozell asked. "When a conservative black man is attacked," the media are mute, failing to consider if perhaps there is racism at play in the criticisms leveled by liberals. What's more, if Rice were white, the media would simply complain Republican critics are "anti-woman," the Media Research Center founder observed [watch the full segment below the page break].

Bozell, Kudlow Discuss Media Bullying Republicans Over Anti-tax Pledge

By NB Staff | November 29, 2012 | 17:57

A  A

NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell appeared on the November 28 edition of CNBC's Kudlow Report, in his capacity as chairman of For America.

Kudlow brought the Media Research Center founder on to discuss the fiscal cliff and the need for Republicans to stand firm on opposing tax hikes, especially in light of the liberal media's tag-teaming with Democrats. "I can't hardly pick up a newspaper or website and not see anybody blaming [anti-tax-hike activist] Grover [Norquist]," Kudlow observed. You can watch that full segment below the page break. NPR Promotes Irish Author's Anti-Catholic Fable Deforming the Virgin Mary

By Matthew Balan | November 27, 2012 | 10:07

A  A

MRC president Brent Bozell ripped The New York Times and the Washington Post in his November 17 column for their positive reviews of Colm Toibin's short novel "The Testament of Mary," which distorts the biblical Virgin Mary into an angry woman bitter at her son Jesus' crucifixion and filled with contempt for His followers. But these left-leaning rags weren't the only media outlets boosting Toibin's iconoclastic re-purposing of the Mother of God.

NPR boosted the Irish writer in an interview on the November 13 episode of Morning Edition. Correspondent Lynn Neary could have been mistaken for a publicist for Toibin as she unquestioningly forwarded his talking points on the book. Neary acknowledged that Toibin's warped version of Mary is a "controversial figure," but barely touched on how Christians - especially Catholics and Orthodox Christians - might be offended by his novel.

Brent Bozell on Fox: Press Corps Should Be 'Perturbed,' Not Chuckle at, Christi Parsons's Fan Girl Act

By NB Staff | November 16, 2012 | 12:47

A  A

Chicago Tribune reporter Christi Parson's fawning fan girl act at Wednesday's press conference was bad enough, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Sean Hannity on the November 15 edition of Hannity, but even worse was the reaction of the rest of the press corps in the room.

"This is the blue chip ensemble of journalists in America," the Media Research Center founder noted, and yet, "no one, but nobody seemed the least bit perturbed that she and [President Obama] are playing kissy-face in a press conference. Nobody was at all surprised by that. What does that tell you about our press corps?" Bozell asked. [watch the full "Media Mash" segment below the page break]

Bozell to Comcast/NBC: You're Responsible for 'Hateful', 'Spiteful' Chris Matthews

By NB Staff | November 09, 2012 | 11:22

A  A

Chris Matthews's disgusting pronouncement that he was glad Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey because it aided the president's reelection bid is just the latest in a string of mean-spirited, hateful, partisan rhetoric from the Hardball host, and Comcast/NBC has to own up to their responsibility for it, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Sean Hannity on the November 8 Hannity.

"You own this guy, and you own responsibility for the things he's saying," Bozell insisted of the cable giant Comcast. "Look,, this guy is out of control. What more disgusting things can he say that he has to apologize for?" [watch the full "Media Mash" segment below the page break]

NB Publisher Bozell Sees Media 'Waterloo' in 2012 Campaign; 'Absolutely No Way' Liberal Media Reflect Most Americans' Values

By Ken Shepherd | November 07, 2012 | 12:52

A  A

It's no secret that the liberal media have boosted Obama with bias by commission, going out of their way to treat him with gauzy coverage, softball interviews, and by hyping his celebrity status, but bias by omission played an even larger role in the media's part to ensure the president's reelection, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Stuart Varney this morning. [see video below page break]

Appearing on the November 7 edition Fox Business Network's Varney & Co. shortly after 10 a.m., Bozell, also the founder and president of the Media Research Center, told the audience that the media simply "stopped reporting the news" on things that would, if covered, make Obama look bad. The only questions which remain, Bozell added were:

ABC and CBS Ignore Their Own Reporters As Benghazi Blackout Reaches 7 Days

By NB Staff | November 02, 2012 | 12:50

A  A

For the seventh night in a row, ABC’s World News, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News refused to give one single second of coverage to the Obama administration’s deceitful response to the terrorist attack on the US consulate in Benghazi on September 11. According to the Media Research Center, the last time Benghazi was discussed on one of the flagship network evening news casts was the October 25 edition of CBS Evening News.

Since then, ABC News and CBS News have relegated coverage of the Benghazi terrorist attack to their websites. Jake Tapper’s November 1 report for ABC News landed on the Drudge Report, while a post from CBS News’ Sharyl Atkisson that same day was picked up by Real Clear Politics. But the millions of viewers who tune in to ABC’s World News and CBS Evening News were not permitted to hear these stories on the evening broadcasts.

Special 'Media Mash': Bozell Hits Media for Being 'Complicit' in Benghazi Coverup

By NB Staff | November 01, 2012 | 10:58

A  A

The heroic actions of Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty on September 11 in Benghazi, Libya, are a "riveting story" that the broadcast networks should be clamoring to cover, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told FNC's Sean Hannity last night. Similarly, the criticism of the Obama administration by Woods's father has been ignored by major media outlets other than Fox News, Hannity observed.

"There's a massive coverup going on," Bozell noted. "I think it is huge, it's bigger than most people realize it is. I believe that if the truth came out, it would cost Barack Obama his reelection. And the media are so vested in his reelection, they are flat-out complicit in this coverup. They are refusing to report news," the Media Research Center told the audience of the October 31 Hannity. Bozell: After 'Delusional' Rantings, It's Pretty Clear Chris Matthews Is 'Bully' and 'Unmitigated Liar'

By NB Staff | October 26, 2012 | 16:31

A  A

At this point in the campaign, most liberal journalists are panicked, but MSNBC's Chris Matthews, well, he's just "delusional," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell noted on the Thursday edition of Fox News Channel's Hannity. The Media Research Center founder was reacting to a montage that a) showed the Hardball host bullying a college student, insisting that the "Innocence of the Muslims" video was the real spark of the deadly Benghazi attack and b) showed Matthews complaining that conservatives are more interested in turning Obama out of office than destroying al Qaeda, and that that was out of racial animus.

Matthews was being "clearly, clearly dishonest" since he most certainly "knows [the Benghazi attack was] not about a video." As to Matthews's charge about conservatives hating Obama more than al Qaeda [MP3 audio here]:

Nat Geo's Timing on SEAL Movie Raises Unnecessary Controversy; Push It Back a Few Days

By Brent Bozell | October 26, 2012 | 10:13

A  A

National Geographic Channel’s decision to air SEAL Team Six two days before the election, along with Harvey Weinstein’s insistence Barack Obama be more prominently featured, is raising reasonable concerns. We don’t want to pass judgement on the content, because we haven’t watched the film. But timing is what matters.

If the National Geographic Channel puts off airing this documentary by just three days, and there’s absolutely no reason why they can’t, it shows they have no agenda. If they don’t postpone it by just 72 hours, it will clearly show that they do. We want to believe that they don’t have an agenda. We’re asking the National Geographic Channel to delay the airing of this documentary until after Election Day. [For the full press release, click here.]

Brent Bozell on CNN: Don't Air 'SEAL Team Six' Until After the Election

By Matt Hadro | October 24, 2012 | 18:35

A  A

The Media Research Center's Brent Bozell told CNN on Wednesday that the upcoming National Geographic drama "SEAL Team Six," produced by Obama-supporter Harvey Weinstein and set to air two days before Election Day, should not be released until after the election is over.

"If it doesn't have a political agenda, as they say it doesn't, and if there aren't any political purposes behind this, as they say there aren't, then simply put it off by two days," Bozell told CNN. [Video below the break. Audio here.]

Bozell on Hannity's 'Media Mash': Media Running Interference for Obama on Benghazi Coverup

By Ken Shepherd | October 19, 2012 | 13:01

A  A

"Anybody who runs interference for Obama on this one issue [the Benghazi attack] is deliberately misleading the American people," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Sean Hannity during his "Media Mash" appearance on the October 18 Hannity. "The record is clear here" that the Obama administration took weeks to publicly admit that the assassination of Amb. Chris Stevens and three others at the Benghazi consulate was a terrorist attack.

Hannity and Bozell also discussed how the media "never vetted" Obama in 2008 and are failing to scrutinize his economic record as president now (watch the segment in the video embedded below the page break):

Bozell Discusses Media's Reticence to Address Benghazi Fiasco with FBN's Varney, Shocking Development On Incomplete Jobs Report

By NB Staff | October 11, 2012 | 11:13

A  A

The Benghazi fiasco and the ensuing cover-up by the Obama administration got minimal media play before yesterday's congressional hearing, and even with that hearing, the media are still hard at work with their excuse-making for the White House, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox Business Network's Stuart Varney on Thursday morning's edition of the Fox Business Network program Varney & Co.

For example, "ABC, last night, Diane Sawyer interviewing Barack Obama, she interviewed him for four minutes, she asked him every question imaginable about his debate performance, she even invited him to say that Mitt Romney was a liar" but she spent "not one second" on Benghazi, the Media Research Center founder told Varney. Media Mash: CNN Helps Cover Up Obama's Race Speech, MSNBC Plays the Race Card

By NB Staff | October 05, 2012 | 10:58

A  A

MRC President and NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell appeared on the October 4 edition of Hannity and exposed the hollowness of the media's argument against covering inflammatory quotes Barack Obama made in a 2007 speech on race, clips aired for the first time earlier this week on Hannity. [Watch the full video after the jump.]

Host Sean Hannity set up the newest "Media Mash" segment: "I just played this tape, 2007. Yeah, the speech was reported on, but they didn't report what happened in this speech. MRC's Bozell: Media Focus on Obama's Poor Performance Glosses Over His Lack of Substance

By NB Staff | October 04, 2012 | 16:15

A  A

Yes, the media are admitting the patently obvious: Mitt Romney won Wednesday's presidential debate. But, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell observed, the media are still shielding Obama by insisting that the president was merely stylistically off his game, rather than deficient on substance.

"It's all about how Obama was lackluster, how Obama wasn't firing on all cylinders.... No," Bozell told Fox Business Network's Stuart Varney on the Thursday morning Varney & Co. "All those things may be true, but that's just the beginning of it." [watch the video below the page break]

Bozell on Spiked Fast and Furious News: 'Another Example of the Media Deliberately Rigging This Election'

By NB Staff | October 02, 2012 | 14:05

A  A

In their continuing push to rig the election for Barack Obama, none of the three broadcast networks – ABC, CBS, or NBC – devoted a single second of coverage to Univision’s politically devastating  investigative report about the Obama Administration’s lethal gunwalking scandal, Fast and Furious.

Media Research President Brent Bozell reacted: "“This is another example of the media deliberately rigging this election. The Obama Administration provided guns to Mexican drug cartels, and the networks have the gall to ignore it. ABC, CBS and NBC have absolutely no excuse for spiking this explosive report, and are clearly doing so because it will damage Obama’s chances of re-election. Americans shouldn’t have to learn a second language to receive real investigative reporting."

Bozell and Hannity Agree: Networks Have Covered Up Obama Lies About Libyan Consulate Deaths of Americans

By NB Staff | September 29, 2012 | 17:33

A  A

Since MRC president Brent Bozell was busy celebrating at the MRC's 25th Anniversary Gala on Thursday night, Fox News asked him to appear for a "Media Mash" segment on Friday night's Hannity. Bozell and Sean Hannity focused mostly on the emerging scandal of  Team Obama's lies about the attacks at the Benghazi consulate that killed four Americans. As we've reported, the networks have been very slow off the mark on this one. ABC's Jake Tapper showed spokesman Jay Carney pooh-poohing it was a “pre-planned attack," which now looks like a lie. Networks didn't want to underline the government knew within 24 hours it was a terrorist attack.

Bozell asked, "Who shows up to a demonstration with rocket-propelled grenades?...Where are the press? They should have been doing this two weeks ago!" Hannity lamented, "They’re covering up the death by terrorists of Americans by terrorists!" And "CBS has yet to cover this,” Bozell said. (Video below)

Hannity, Bozell Discuss Media Double Standard on Romney '47 Percent,' Obama 'Redistribution' Videos

By NB Staff | September 21, 2012 | 11:11

A  A

Both Mitt Romney's "47 percent" remarks and Barack Obama's pro-"redistribution" comments could be considered "inflammatory if you want to look for inflammatory comments," and yet there's a massive double standard in how the media have reported on the two, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center (MRC) president Brent Bozell told Fox News's Sean Hannity on the September 20 Hannity program.

"In the case of Obama's comment," however, it "confirms... that he's a socialist who believes in the redistribution of wealth." Yet as an MRC review confirmed, the media gave roughly 10 times the coverage to the edited tape of Romney's comments at a May fundraiser as they did to the 1998 comments from then-State Senator Barack Obama. Bozell Video: 'The Public' Waiting for Romney to Call Media Out on Their Bias, Soft Treatment of Obama

"The public is waiting for Mitt Romney to say, 'I've had enough of you folks,'"  NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox Business Network's Stuart Varney this morning. The Media Research Center founder and president noted that unlike President Obama, Romney actually entertained questions from the media after his September 11 statement, where he was subjected to six different iterations of the same question about the appropriateness of his statement the evening prior.

As we now know  because of a hot microphone catching an exchange among reporters before the presser, that was a planned ambush by the journalists, Bozell argued [watch the full video below the page break].

Bozell, Hannity Expose Media 'Ambush' of Romney

By NB Staff | September 14, 2012 | 10:26

"In a press conference, it's not uncommon for reporters to get together before to make sure that their important question is asked. That's not the issue," however, with how the media prepared their attack on Mitt Romney at his September 12 press conference, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity.

"This wasn't the coordination of a question, this was the plotting of an ambush" when you consider that "six of the seven" questions focused on hitting Romney for the alleged impropriety of his statement on September 11 about the attacks by Islamist mobs on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and the embassy in Cairo, Egypt. While Broadcast Media Buys 'Severe Weather' Excuse for Moving Obama Speech, Townhall, Politico Are Skeptical

By Matt Vespa | September 05, 2012 | 22:26

A  A

If you have tickets for the Democratic National Convention and wanted to see President Barack Obama deliver his acceptance speech this Thursday at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium, you’ll be greatly disappointed.  Despite the official excuse of severe weather -- forecasters put the chance of storms at 20-30 percent -- the change in venue really seems to be because Obama campaign officials fear they can't fill the 74,000-seat stadium.

Reporting that, of course, is unfathomable for the lapdog broadcast media, but some print and online reporters are skeptical.

When this NewsBuster entered a Spanish-language press conference at the Republican National Convention this morning, he was surprised to find former New Hampshire Governor and Romney surrogate John Sununu at the podium . . . holding forth in fluent Spanish.

Interviewed after his remarks, Sununu told NewsBusters that he was born in Havana and that his mother was originally from El Salvador.  "As a boy, when I was bad, my mother would chew me out in Spanish. And since I was bad a lot, I learned a lot of Spanish!" Before saying goodbye, Sununu added "I love Brent Bozell!", President of NewsBusters's parent organization, Media Research Center. Video: Bozell Slams 'Moronic' Assertion From MSNBC That Pro-life Ryan's a Worse Catholic Than Pro-Choice, Pro-Gay Marriage Biden

By NB Staff | August 24, 2012 | 10:58

A  A

"These are two of the most moronic statements I have ever heard," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell, himself a practicing Catholic, complained after watching video of MSNBC host Martin Bashir and MSNBC contributor Jimmy Williams attacking Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as championing an "unbiblical" budget that doesn't comport to Catholic social teaching.

"Consider that one of these morons is saying that Paul Ryan's budget is unbiblical?! I mean, what book of the Bible dealt with Paul Ryan's budget?" the Media Research Center founder asked on the August 23 "Media Mash" segment, going on to note that seeing as that the Catholic Church is suing the Obama administration over the religious liberty-infringing contraception mandate, it's laughable to suggest that Joe Biden is a better Catholic. Bozell, Hannity Review Media's Attacks On Paul Ryan, Pathetic Defense of Biden's Racially-tinged 'Chains' Gaffe

By NB Staff | August 17, 2012 | 10:42

A  A

Paul Ryan is radically anti-woman, anti-senior citizen, and if he and Mitt Romney are elected and ObamaCare is repealed, people will die! That, in a nutshell, is the liberal media's spin about Gov. Romney's pick of the Wisconsin Republican as his running mate, with the latter claim being made recently by MSNBC political analyst Jonathan Alter, formerly of Newsweek.

"That sleazeball did exactly accuse Romney of murder!" NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell exclaimed on the August 16 Hannity program, adding that by Alter's logic, it would be the majority of Americans who voted for Romney's presidency who would be complicit in "murder." "Where is that talk... where is the discussion of civility? Where are those high-minded people talking about civility now?" the Media Research Center founder asked.
