Bill Maher Staffer: Reporters Recommending Liberal Ideas Are Like Dentists Endorsing a Toothbrush

By Tim Graham | October 15, 2012 | 06:57

A  A

There are two recent arguments on The Huffington Post about liberal media bias. Inside the media elite, the bias deniers were represented by former ABC News president David Westin boasting Martha Raddatz somehow won the bias debate as she moderated Biden and Ryan in Kentucky.

Then there are the effects deniers, represented by Scott Stenholm, a staffer for Bill Maher’s show Real Time on HBO. Citing the MRC’s Tell the Truth campaign, he admitted the media were biased, but that the country keeps electing Republican presidents, so how effective is the tilt? Stenholm thinks the country should be embracing the liberal media's hard-earned expertise.

Bill Maher Attacks Pollster Scott Rasmussen For 'Taking a Side' with the 'Rush-Fox-Drudge' Reality Deniers

By Tim Graham | September 30, 2012 | 07:50

A  A

Bill Maher isn’t scowling at conservatives on his HBO show right now, but on his blog, he has a new character on the political scene to attack: pollster Scott Rasmussen.

In Maher’s brain, conservatives are reality-deniers who live in the “Fox-Rush-Drudge” bubble who won’t listen to opposing views. "Because wingnuts can go for months and not talk to anyone who doesn’t think Obama is a bigger threat to America than Al Qaeda with airborne AIDS, but that’s because they live in rural Tennessee, and inside the information bubble.” Polls are the only political reality to snap them out of it – until Rasmussen came along and “deluded” them with poll results that disagree with the “mainstream” mob:

NYTimes Provides More Space for Controversial Comedian Bill Maher, This Time in Support of Drug Legalization

By Clay Waters | August 08, 2012 | 08:53

The New York Times handed over more real estate to controversial left-wing comedian Bill Maher, this time in the Sunday Book Review section, where Maher praised a book in support of legalizing marijuana in a review and in the front section of the Book Review, where Maher lamented: "The drug war, just like the war on terror, created jobs and budgets, and the beneficiaries don’t want to give them up, even though they know they’re fighting an immoral and unwinnable war."

JFK and Mitt: The Media’s Double Standard on Faith

By Paul Wilson | July 31, 2012 | 09:24

A  A

During the 1960 presidential campaign, Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kennedy was attacked for his Catholic faith, then viewed by many as subversive and un-American. Anti-Mormon bigots are now targeting Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for his Mormon beliefs, which are now viewed by many “progressives” as a “transparent and recent fraud.” But in those 50 years, the role of the media has changed significantly.

A June 2012 study performed by American National Election Studies (ANES) found that 43 percent of liberals would be “less likely” to vote for a Mormon candidate for religious reasons. An essential point, given how often news outlets highlight Romney’s religion.

Sports Media Launches Olympic-Sized Blitz from Left

By Paul Wilson | July 26, 2012 | 11:57

A  A

The Olympic Games, which begin this week, is an exhibition of the sportsmanship, teamwork, and the competitive spirit that make sports so enjoyable. But for many in the media, sports is just another excuse to engage in divisive political commentary. The sports media transform an apolitical past-time into a forum for their own politics.

Progressives have actively attempted to remake the Olympics into a celebration of their own political ideals. From calls to make the summer Games “a forum for the promotion of LGBT rights,” to criticism of the International Olympic Committee as “the 1 percent of the 1 percent,” lefties care less about the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat than using the world’s biggest sporting event to pound for their pet causes.

Berlau Column: Let's Not Forget the Progressives Like Bill Maher Who Bullied Jonathan Krohn for His Conservatism

By John Berlau | July 03, 2012 | 16:09

A  A

Just a little over a week ago -- in a new low even for him -- HBO's Bill Maher publicly advocated giving a teenage boy a "wedgie." Now, Maher will likely join other liberals in embracing Jonathan Krohn because of Krohn's just-announced change in political philosophy.

Krohn, who gave a rousing speech at the 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and followed with the book Defining Conservatism, told Politico in a story that ran Monday that he had moved to the Left. Krohn, now 17, called his CPAC speech "naive" and "something that a 13-year-old does." Krohn now calls ObamaCare a "good idea" and says he would "probably" vote for Barack Obama in November if he were allowed to vote.
