Morning Joe Meteorologist: Tornado Averted 'By The Grace of Whatever'

By Mark Finkelstein | May 20, 2013 | 08:34

A  A

Let me preface by saying that I'm not criticizing Bill Karins for his choice of words.  Thank, uh, goodness, we live in a country where we're free to believe in any God or no God at all.

But I do see Karins' construction as a sign of the cultural times. The Morning Joe meteorologist today aired dramatic footage of the weatherman at the NBC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas ordering his colleagues to take shelter because a tornado was headed right at the station. Said Karins: "By the grace of whatever, God or whatever else, it lifted the second it got right to the TV station."  You'll hear Karins hesitate and change course when he realizes he's put himself on a path to say "by the grace of God."  View the video after the jump.

On Inauguration Day, Joe Scarborough Continues Assault on NRA and Their 'Big Lie'

By Scott Whitlock | January 21, 2013 | 18:37

A  A

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, who now spends much of his Morning Joe program trashing the Republican Party and various conservatives, used the inauguration of Barack Obama as another chance to slime the National Rifle Association. The former Republican Congressman sneered at the National Rifle Association, suggesting that the gun group is promoting the "big lie" that government will come after most guns.

Scarborough insisted the "the big lie has worked for years." He added, "...If they take away your military-style assault weapons, take away the AR-15, they're going to take your hunting rifle, they’re gonna take your handgun, which of course is a big lie."

Williams: 'Smart' Say Tornadoes a Reaction to Abuse of Earth

By Brent Baker | May 12, 2008 | 20:38

A  A
NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams on Monday evening gave credibility to the extremist environmental theory that the Earth is reacting to mankind's mistreatment by spawning a rash of tornadoes. Williams reported how “this has been one of the most active, deadly tornado seasons in a long time” with more tornadoes so far this year than through August last year. He then forwarded to NBC Weather Plus meteorologist Bill Karins the kind of reasoning he hears during his daily routine:
I talked to three people, casual conversation today, all of them smart, saying “I don't know, we must be doing something to our Earth.”
Karins gently corrected him: “Well, there are correlations that can be made. Global warming not quite one of them. La Nina, more likely.”
