Arianna Huffington: Hillary Clinton Is ‘Sending a Bad Message to Women’

By Noel Sheppard | April 07, 2013 | 12:39

A  A

The liberal media have been gushing and fawning for weeks about Hillary Clinton beginning her obvious campaign for president.

Don’t count Arianna Huffington among them, for on ABC’s This Week Sunday, the founder of the Huffington Post actually said that Clinton not taking some time off to recharge herself is “sending a bad message to women that the only way to succeed, the only way to run is to drive yourself into the ground” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

By Noel Sheppard | April 05, 2013 | 12:32

A  A

Actor and comedian Martin Short took a comedic swipe at the Huffington Post on the CBS Late Show Thursday.

No Social Conservatives on CBS's List of 'Eye-Opening Women'

By Matthew Balan | March 04, 2013 | 16:41

A  A

On Monday, CBS This Morning launched a week-long set of interviews for Women's History Month, but the majority of the women they picked for their list of "Eye Opening Women" are dedicated liberals, particularly on social issues. The morning newscast first conducted a fawning interview of former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who was part of the Supreme Court plurality that upheld the Roe v. Wade decision in 1992's Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

Five out of the eight remaining women featured for the series of interviews are all notables on the left side of the political spectrum. On Tuesday, anchors Charlie Rose and Norah O'Donnell will interview The Daily Beast's Tina Brown and Arianna Huffington, founder of far-left website The Huffington Post. Brown has a history of attacking conservatives. During a 2011 appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe program, she likened tax hike opponents to terrorists:

Arianna Huffington & Scarborough Claim: W.F. Buckley, Jr. Would Have Supported Hagel

By Mark Finkelstein | January 15, 2013 | 08:29

A  A

I don't know about you, but when I want to know how William F. Buckley, Jr. would have felt about an issue, I always consult Arianna Huffington and Joe Scarborough.  But seriously, who would you trust more to reflect how Buckley would have felt on an important issue of the day: the editors of the National Review--the magazine that WFB founded--or the combined wisdom of Huffington and Scarborough?  In an editorial published before Hagel's nomination became official, the Editors at National Review wrote: "Chuck Hagel is a very poor choice for the next secretary of defense," concluding that he was "definitively not the man who should be the next secretary of defense."

But on today's Morning Joe, when Huffington asked "don't you think William F. Buckley would be endorsing Chuck Hagel now?", Scarborough responded with an emphatic "yes!"  View the video after the jump.

Arianna Huffington Uses the Onion to Support Anti-Petraeus, Anti-'the Generals' Argument

By Tom Blumer | November 18, 2012 | 11:51

A  A

In her "Sunday Roundup" post at the site which bears her last name, Arianna Huffington supported that notion that "This week, America finally began questioning the judgment of its generals," but lamented that the scrutiny is over "sexual conduct rather than military conduct."

Fine, that's her opinion. But what's really odd is that she apparently thought that referencing a headline found at the Onion would be seen by readers as meaningful support for her argument (HT to a NewsBusters tipster):

Arianna Huffington Shocker: Obama's Bin Laden Ad 'One of the Most Despicable Things You Can Do'

By Noel Sheppard | April 30, 2012 | 19:40

A  A

It seems a metaphysical certitude that when Charlie Rose asked the perilously liberal publisher Arianna Huffington about Barack Obama's new campaign ad featuring former President Bill Clinton praising the current White House resident's decision to take out Osama bin Laden the CBS This Morning co-host didn't expect this answer.

"To turn it into a campaign ad is one of the most despicable things you can do" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

As NewsBusters reported, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh issued an apology to Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke Saturday.

Rather then congratulate Limbaugh for doing what it believed was the right thing to do, the liberal Huffington Post ridiculed him with a front page headline "RUSH CAVES: 'I Sincerely Apologize To Ms. Fluke'" (photo courtesy Getty):

Bozell and Other Leaders Protest Vicious Anti-Catholic Huffington Post Article

By Tim Graham | February 29, 2012 | 09:30

A  A

As Fox News is reporting, MRC president Brent Bozell organized a group of socially conservative leaders to demand that Huffington Post publisher Arianna Huffington apologize for allowing a Catholic-bashing, Santorum-bashing column to be published on her website that begins: "Many of you will be shocked to learn what our possible future president believes, who he answers to, the bloody jihads his so-called church has carried on for centuries, and its current role as the tactical arm of the North American Man-Boy Love Association."

Writer Larry Doyle added, "Unlike Christians, Santorum and his fellow Roman Catholics participate in a barbaric ritual dating back two millennia, a 'mass' in which a black-robed cleric casts a spell over some bread and wine, transfiguring it into the actual living flesh and blood of their Christ. Followers then line up to eat the Jesus meat and drink his holy blood in a cannibalistic reverie not often seen outside Cinemax." Bozell and the others replied:

Arianna Huffington: Drug War a 'War on Our Own People'

By Matt Hadro | February 13, 2012 | 17:37

A  A

Not everyone disagreed with singer Tony Bennett's pleading for the legalization of drugs in lieu of Whitney Houston's tragic death on Saturday. Arianna Huffington insisted Bennett's point was an "absolutely fair" one to make, and that the war on drugs has targeted minorities in America.

"But the point, I think, is absolutely fair, that the war on drugs has failed and we're not acknowledging it," Huffington posed on Monday's Starting Point. [Video below the break.]

Network Newscast Blackout of Mandate on Catholics Continues, But Sunday Talk Shows Take It Up

By Brent Baker | February 06, 2012 | 10:53

A  A

The broadcast network evening and morning newscast blackout, of the Obama administration plan to force health insurance offered by Catholic charities and hospitals to cover sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs and contraception without a co-pay, continued over the weekend, yet the ABC and NBC Sunday morning talk shows took up the topic.

Meanwhile, the media double standard in ignoring the ObamaCare imposition on religious institutions while jumping to defend Planned Parenthood when Komen pulled funding, is being noticed by media observers ranging from from Fox News to even a New York Times columnist.

Arianna Derides Media's Focus on Cain Allegations - While Providing Pedal-to-Metal Coverage at HuffPo

By Jack Coleman | November 10, 2011 | 13:38

Arianna Huffington wants media outlets to stop obsessing on the sexual harassment allegations against Herman Cain. Except at the liberal news site bearing her name.

During a "Both Sides Now" radio broadcast on which she occasionally appears with GOP political consultant Mary Matalin, Ron Reagan and others, the Huffington Post co-founder likened media coverage of the Cain controversy to the media's singular focus on the "balloon boy" incident from October 2009. George Will: GOP Congress-Blaming Obama Ignores Senate

By Noel Sheppard | November 06, 2011 | 13:55

As NewsBusters observed last month, the media, possibly with marching papers from the White House, have regularly been blaming all that ails the nation on "The Republican Congress" despite the fact Democrats control the Senate.

On ABC's This Week Sunday, George Will marvelously noted, "While [Barack Obama] was lecturing in Constitutional law, he missed that part of the Article I that says there’s a Senate also" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

UPDATE AT END OF POST: AOL HuffPo responds.

Joining our growing list of media members willing to flat out lie on national television to advance their political agendas is Arianna Huffington who falsely claimed this week that securities firm JPMorgan warned its clients the debt ceiling agreement "is going to reduce our growth by a point-and-a-half."

AOL Starting to Regret Buying HuffPo?

By Matthew Sheffield | June 08, 2011 | 11:55

A  A

Media critics, decidedly un-conservative for the most part, are piling on Arianna-OL in the wake of  what is increasingly being seen as a disastrous merger. Don't blame the right, this is coming from Poynter, MediaBistro, Business Insider and elsewhere, Forbes being perhaps the only "conservative" outlet.

Four months ago, when AOL chairman Tim Armstrong needed something to revitalize his news department, he found what he thought was his savior in the Huffington Post. The popular news site already had three things that AOL hadn’t been able to previously accomplish: a clear editorial voice, continued and growing traffic growth, and deep engagement from its users. Although AOL had executed a series of bad mergers and new product launches in recent years, Armstrong pushed forward, forking over $300 million dollars into the coffers of the far left Arianna Huffington and her initial investors.
