Bill Maher Compares Senator Mitch McConnell to Newtown Mass Murderer Adam Lanza

By Noel Sheppard | April 06, 2013 | 12:23

A  A

There clearly is no floor to how low Bill Maher will go to attack conservatives.

On HBO’s Real Time Friday, the host actually compared Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to Newtown, Connecticut, mass murderer Adam Lanza (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Politico's Glueck Spends Four Paragraphs Smearing the NRA Before Noting Lanzas Were Never Members

By Tom Blumer | March 30, 2013 | 19:35

A  A

Politico's "About" page consists of two rotating graphics: One says: "More reporters. Better coverage." The other: "A distinctive brand of journalism driving the conversation."

It's hard to make a case that Politico's coverage is "better" (than what -- the Associated Press, aka the Administration's Press? That would be setting the bar pretty low). And while it is distinctive, the web site should replace the "c" in "distinctive" with a "k." In one example of stinky distinctiveness, Katie Glueck spent four paragraphs smearing the NRA by inference in a story about evidence found at the home of Newtown, Connecticut mass murderer Adam Lanza and his mother Nancy before recognizing the NRA's response that neither person was ever a member of the organization (bolds are mine throughout this post:

Bozell Column: 'Dialogue' Required for Violent Video Games

By Brent Bozell | February 23, 2013 | 09:08

A  A

The Obama administration's assault on the Second Amendment in reaction to Newtown is not a serious solution. It's a Band-Aid on cancer. The NRA's call for armed guards in every school also misses the point. When is anyone going to get serious? The problem is violence, a violence of monstrous and horrific proportions that has infected America's popular culture.

The Hartford Courant reported on Sunday that during a search of Newtown grade-school killer Adam Lanza’s home after the shootings, “police found thousands of dollars worth of graphically violent video games.” Detectives are exploring whether Adam Lanza might have been emulating the shooting range or a video-game scenario as he moved from room to room at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Police Found Thousands of Dollars of Graphically Violent Video Games at Newtown Shooter's Home

By Noel Sheppard | February 18, 2013 | 10:41

A  A

America's media are always quick to discount the impact violence in movies, television, and video games has on society.

It therefore will be interesting to see what the response will be to a Hartford Courant report Sunday that police found thousands of dollars of graphically violent video games in the home of Newtown shooter Adam Lanza:

MSNBC’s Toure: If Newtown Shooter Killed Black Kids We Probably Wouldn’t Be Talking About Guns

By Noel Sheppard | February 16, 2013 | 12:59

A  A

MSNBC's Toure Neblett made an extremely controversial statement on Friday's The Cycle.

"If Adam Lanza had walked into a black public school in this mythical South Brooklyn or in the Southside of Chicago, we would probably not be having a sustained national conversation about guns" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Obama: Keeping Secret Service 'With Guns Around At All Times' to Protect His Girls Was Incentive to Run Again

By Noel Sheppard | December 27, 2012 | 08:59

A  A

The anti-gun Obama isn't so anti-gun when it comes to protecting his own family.

During a predictably gooey interview with Barbara Walters on ABC's Nightline Wednesday, the President joked about his daughter Malia dating boys saying, "I always talk about how one of the main incentives for running again was continuing secret service protection so there are men with guns around at all times" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

White House Petition Created To Deport Piers Morgan For Attacking Second Amendment

By Noel Sheppard | December 23, 2012 | 09:34

A  A

As NewsBusters has been reporting, CNN's Piers Morgan has been on a gun control tirade since the recent massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

On Friday, a man in Austin, Texas, created a petition at the White House website calling for Morgan's deportation as a result of his attacks on the Second Amendment:

Lawrence O'Donnell: NRA's LaPierre Is 'The Lobbyist For Mass Murderers'

By Noel Sheppard | December 22, 2012 | 09:22

A  A

The hatred the media have for Wayne LaPierre knows no bounds.

Hours after the executive vice president of the National Rifle Association presented a strategy to protect America's students from the kind of massacre that happened in Newtown, Connecticut, a week ago, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell opened his program Friday by accusing the gun advocate of being "the lobbyist for mass murderers" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Scarborough Has Hissy Fit, Asks GOP Rep 'You Dare Come On My Show and Say' I'm Politicizing Newtown?

By Noel Sheppard | December 21, 2012 | 11:26

A  A

Joe Scarborough had quite a hissy fit on the MSNBC program bearing his name Friday.

In the middle of a discussion with Congressman Tim Huelskamp (R-Ks.) about the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, Scarborough barked at his guest, "Do you dare come on my show and say I am using the slaughter of 20 little 6 and 7-year-old children, I'm using that for political purposes?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Piers Morgan Calls Pro-Gun Advocate 'Unbelievably Stupid,' 'Dangerous': 'You Shame Your Country'

By Noel Sheppard | December 19, 2012 | 09:42

A  A

CNN's Piers Morgan has been on a rabid anti-gun rant since July's Aurora, Colorado, shootings that has gotten even more venomous after Friday's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

On Tuesday, he rudely and disgracefully tore into guest Larry Pratt, the Executive Director of Gun Owners of America, calling him "an unbelievably stupid man" who's "dangerous," concluding the interview by saying, "You shame your country" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

NewsHour's Ifill Fails to Challenge California Senator's Omissions on Gun Violence

By Matt Vespa | December 18, 2012 | 19:23

A  A

Liberals politicians and journalists are on a full-blown assault on the Second Amendment ever since Friday's horrific shooting in Newtown, Conn. Gun ban-pushers like Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) are making the rounds in the media, including taxpayer-funded PBS. On December 17, NewsHour anchor Gwen Ifill gave Feinstein the floor to push her agenda. Naturally, Ifill failed to bring on an opposing point of view nor did she ask Feinstein tough questions.

Baltimore Sun's Zurawik Notes Media Malfeasance at the Outset of Newtown Shooting

By Matt Vespa | December 17, 2012 | 14:07

A  A

Suffice it to say the media coverage of the recent tragedy was an abject failure. Perhaps the most egregious example was how CNN initially reported that Ryan Lanza, brother of the real shooter Adam Lanza, was the culprit eliciting screenshots and information about his Facebook account that was disseminated on the Internet  – and on the airwaves.  David Zurawik of the Baltimore Sun wrote on December 14 that:

Roughly 48 hours after the tragic shootings at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, a powerful Democrat claimed that on the first day of the new Congress in January, she will be introducing a bill to both chambers of Congress that bans assault weapons.

So said Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif), the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee on NBC's Meet the Press Sunday.

By Noel Sheppard | December 16, 2012 | 13:09

A  A

CBS's Bob Schieffer made a comment Sunday about the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, that's likely to raise eyebrows on both sides of the aisle.

During a Face the Nation panel discussion about the incident, Schieffer said, "If [shooter Adam Lanza] had had an Arab name, people would be going nuts about what we ought to do right now" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
