“Exposing & Combating Liberal Media Bias”

Today's starters:
Media: After resigning from CNN after making baseless accusations that American soldiers were deliberately trying to kill journalists, Eason Jordan has resurfaced as the head of a new Iraq war news site. Among other things, the site will attempt to find the mysterious AP source and purported Iraqi policeman Jamil Hussein. Michelle Malkin will be going there to look for him as well. Bad judgment at CBS: The network led with Christmas shopping on the night news broke about South Dakota Democrat Tim Johnson was hospitalized. Politics: Is the flying imams kerfuffle really a publicity stunt? John McCain is trying to sell himself as the GOP establishment candidate this time around, according to Robert Novak. Ed Morrissey doesn't think it's working, at least at this point. John Kerry, meanwhile, is going to visit Iraq. Ward Connerly, the noted opponent of affirmative action, is planning to sponsor several anti-preference ballot initiatives in 2008. |

Prediction: when I eventually say "I told you so," I'll immediately get blamed for it right here as if Libertarians have somehow been in power over the past few decades. Mark my words...

Thu, 12/14/2006 - 14:16 ET by CaringwhiteguySince MSM began reporting on the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Sen. Tim Johnson the poor guy is being treated like a slab of meat. Reporting doesn't seem to give a rat's ass about his actual condition or the emotions his family must be feeling. All they care about is the balance in the Senate. . . . . . and that I find both humorous and sad.
However since the power shift is a possibility I am concerned that Harry Reid and the Republican leadership have already had conversations regarding committee chairmanships and size should Senator Johnson be unable to serve. The last thing this country needs if for the "magnanimous" GOP to offer some sort of power sharing arrangement again. For Senator Johnson's sake I hope this situation does not come to pass, but a Republican leadership team with Trent Lott scares me.

Thu, 12/14/2006 - 14:24 ET by GothampcI was just thinking about the Eason Jordan soldiers killing journalists idea. Wasn't it GWB that first allowed journalists to be embedded with soldiers? Do we ever hear a thank you from the media that GWB has made their job better?
Anyone catch this from the left wing MSM?
Thu, 12/14/2006 - 14:30 ET by Carl KolchakMengistu Mariam a left wing Marxist dictator has just been found guilty by Ethiopian courts for his genocide. Now I guess since he is a left winger the left wing MSM doesn't report much about him. Also here is a link, and they seem to neglect that he was a Marxist, so for those who don't rely on the left wing MSM for their news, just remember he is a left wing Marxist. Also remember the musicians in Band Aid from 1985? Well this was the left wing leader causing all the problems in Ethiopia. I wonder if all those left wing musicians realized that.

Left wing Robert Mugabe is harboring him
Thu, 12/14/2006 - 15:09 ET by Carl KolchakI did find a BBC article that shows his Marxist roots. Also note in the article that left wing Robert Mugabe is harboring him. Now I'm sure that if a right wing dictator was found guilty of genocide and was being harbored by another right winger, that all the left wing MSM would be really fine with that. The left wing MSM sure is consistent aren't they?

As a bonus, when you add in macho bands like Spandau Ballet, Ultravox, Heaven 17, and Paul Young, not to mention David Bowie's participation, you might have wanted to call this supergroup (insert homosexual slang term)-Aid.

Thu, 12/14/2006 - 14:55 ET by Airforce_5_OJohn Kerry goes to Iraq. Well here is another opportunity for him to get another “Fake” purple heart to go with his bleeding heart.
He gives a speech in Cairo were he urges a dialogue with Syria and Iran. Ok Johnny boy lets think on this one, and I know that’s hard, but isn’t Iran supplying money and weapons to the insurgence? Did we not find a weapons cache with Iranian marking on them? Isn’t Syria backing Hezbollah and Hamas? What are you thinking?
Come on Senator Kerry pull your frigging head out. We are at war with Terrorist. We kill them we do not negotiate. Oh I’m sorry I forgot; you like to aid and abed the enemies of this country anyway.

Thu, 12/14/2006 - 20:47 ET by nkviking75Having read the CNN link, I see that the official explanation for the prolonged procedure is that Diaz had liver disease. That slowed down the metabolizing of the chemicals, requiring a second shot. I suppose any other inmates with liver disease will try to use that as justification to get their death sentences overturned.

Thu, 12/14/2006 - 22:02 ET by MikeBPersonally, I think that a murderer should be executed using the same means he/she used to kill his/her victim(s). Thus, an arsonist who kills someone in a fire they set should be burned at the stake. Whoever put the cyanide in the Tylenol bottles several years ago should be poisoned with cyanide, etc.
The constitution does not ban capital punishment. The prohibition against "cruel and unusual" punishment was to prohibit disproportionate punishments, such as burning at the stake for theft, etc. Unfortunately, thanks to the efforts of the commie-libs over the years, any punishment is becoming unusual any more.

Thu, 12/14/2006 - 22:07 ET by Conservative Voicewell yes, because we should only use words (diplomacy) for the likes of Iran (in the liberal mind). If we can only use words for a country that wants America to burn and everyone not praying to their version of God is killed, raped, or whatever...then we can only give a dirty look at the murderers caught in this country.

I also saw a more recent article by this author in an Australian newspaper, online. Can't recall which; but Googling Whelan, James ought to dredge up the source. Same rationale on the late dictator of Chile. Seems to serve his cause well. (Hope you didn't object, NY Times.)
John McCain...hahahahahaha what a bad joke anymore.
Thu, 12/14/2006 - 19:44 ET by Guy Arthur ThomasMcCain is a joke. He just started GRANDSTANDING the other day with this lame speech about forcing people who are on sex offender registries to give an EMAIL address for the registration. What a clown. DUH, yeah okay, I am going to commit a crime, oh by the way here is my REAL EMAIL...what a dumba$$. Secondly, online sex offenders are almost always NEW OFFENDERS. John McCain is a grandstanding JOKE.
But neverminding that going nowhere piece of legislation, McCain wants to present himself as what???????? The GOP establishment candidate. McCain is an experience voter and self-righteous gasbag who pretends that his life experiences have taught him something. UGH, what they have taught him is that law breaking in his family gets to be treated above the law and everyone else McCain expects of course to obey the law. He is the Republican version of Ted Kennedy.
Rudy...Rudy....Rudy...Rudy's temperment, experience, intelligence and ability to inspire and lead will give Republicans the independent and conservative democratic votes they need. McCain is a laughingstock.

Sat, 12/16/2006 - 09:55 ET by Guy Arthur ThomasNewt is a bright man and a good leader of those in his own party and certainly able to lead other Congressmen and women. However his national electability is at best marginal and would be rejected by many independents and conservative democrats in today's America. It doesn't mean Newt doesn't have the goods to excel at the job but getting the job requires a certain broad national appeal that I do not believe Newt could provide, particularly following President Bush.
If you claim to be a conservative, please don't disgrace yourself and conservatism by thinking and arguing like a liberal.
I couldn't agree more Guy
Thu, 12/14/2006 - 22:53 ET by acumenI couldn't agree more Guy. For all the reasons you mentioned above as well as Rudy, not because he's a true conservative, but because there are so few true conservatives (wonder - media- why - media), Rudy, for having met the enemy and realizing the enemy is among us and last but not least Rudy, because he is the Republicans best shot at beating the big legs, big ears tag team and their formidable media cheerleading squad.
