America is in a colossal struggle for its very soul. If we are going to win the battle for our civil rights and our religious liberties, we would be wise to learn from the successful movements of the past.

The American people have always resisted tyranny. The Revolutionary War, the abolition of slavery and the civil rights movement of the 1960s all show this to be true.

History teaches us that preceding every one these events, where common everyday citizens felt the need to throw off the chains of bondage, there were two factors at work. They are:

1. Powerful writings that educated and motivated the people to throw off the chains of bondage.
2. A groundswell of activism from the grassroots Judeo-Christian community.

The American colonists were motivated to end the tyranny of Britain when Thomas Paine published his famous revolutionary pamphlet Common Sense. Paine's passion for the issue of freedom coupled with a direct appeal to the colonists did more to motivate the people than anything else. He is quotes as saying:

“Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”

Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin created such a controversy on the issue of slavery that when she was introduced to President Abraham Lincoln in 1862, he is said to have greeted her with the words: “So you are the little woman who wrote the book that started this great war!”

Dr. King's 1963 “Letter from Birmingham Jail” inspired a growing national civil rights movement.

All three of these writings played essential roles in the granting of basic God-given civil rights by creating a groundswell of activism from the Christian community.

I have written the book series The Rise of America to serve as a teaching guide in order to instruct Americans about the type of government that we are guaranteed under the Constitution and how that government has been ripped from the hand of the people and put under the jurisdiction of the federal courts.

If these are the fundamental truths that our Founding Fathers held to be true when forming this country, who then is going to teach Americans that this was the opinion of our Founding Fathers? The High schools and colleges are not allowed to teach it because of the fictitious lie of separation of church and state, and the liberal media refuses to report on it because it conflicts with their anti-Christian worldview.

If the church in America does not assume the responsibility to teach these truths to this generation of Americans, then the ideals of our Founding Fathers may be lost and forgotten forever by the next generation.

I believe that when the American people find out how the Constitutional and their civil rights are being violated by a federal judiciary that never had the legal or constitution right to rule on these issues to begin with, the outrage will motivate those at the grassroots level to take action. Again, The key I believe is Education!

The church takes books like The Purpose Driven Life and we teach them in our small groups, bible studies and our Sunday schools; but if we do not teach these truths with just as much dedication and commitment, our society is going to collapse around the church. The church cannot fulfill Christ’s mandate to be the salt and the light to a dying society if it only stays within the four wall of the church.

I believe that the time for inaction is over. We must adopt the attitude of William Jennings Bryan who once said:

“We do not come as aggressors. Our war is not a war of conquest; we are fighting for the defense of our homes, our families, and posterity. We have petitioned, and our petitions have been scorned; we have entreated, and our entreaties have been disregarded; we have begged, and they have mocked.... We beg no longer; we entreat no more; we petition no more. We defy them!”
