Why The Republicans Lost...

SARASOTA, FL. (NS) -

I have been giving this quite some thought, and I think the reason the Republicans lost this election simply because voters were fed up with the slow progress in Iraq, and President Bush's failure to explain all the really good accomplishments he made in dealing with the Economy and the War On Terror...

Add to this the fact that the mainstream media lied about both, in order to help the Democrats to win. We should have expected this from them, but this time we didn't do much to counter it, and they pulled it off...

Hindsight isn't always perfect, but we know for sure the strategy the Republicans used failed. They just hunkered down, said "stay the course" and tried to weather the storm...

They really did very little to correct the record. They allowed the radical left to define the issues, so the Republicans ended up losing the election...

The Media repeated the phrase "Bush is a failure" so many times that the vast unwashed masses believed it. They spun every policy disagreement into a "LIE" or a "SCANDAL," and we really didn't try that hard to stop them...

The Republicans LOST this election, because they simply didn't try hard enough to WIN it...

Consider this... The Republicans ACTUALLY ALLOWED the party who takes money from NAMBLA and marches in Gay Parades that label them as "protecting child predators." The GOP threw Foley overboard just as fast as they threw Rumsfeld overboard, showing you they just don't have the stomach for fighting back...

Personally, I got sick and tired of seeing Dennis Hassert say he will launch yet ANOTHER investigation to "protect the children." Right, 18 year old Congressional Child Pages!

Hassert SHOULD HAVE SAID: "Foley is certainly a sleazebag, but he has broken no laws. In fact, he has DONE MUCH LESS than many Democrat members of Congress have. We are glad he resigned, but we will not participate in this Democrat gay bashing frenzy. This is a cheap political stunt by the Democrats and we will not play along."

President Bush SHOULD have fought back aggressively. But George W. Bush ALLOWED the Democrats to take the offense, while he played a defensive game, and not a very good one...

Karl Rove was really disappointing! One thing for certain, we KNOW his political strategy FAILED this time...

President Bush SHOULD have held press conferences to correct the record. He also SHOULD have TOLD us about the HUNDREDS of terror plots he foiled, and the DOZENS of terror cells he busted, even if he had to name the times and places. He COULD have even provided PROOF to show how the Democrats and the media was lying to the public. I realize he wanted to keep these things confidential, but what good was that if you hand the government over to the likes of Dick Durbin and Teddy Kennedy???

Trust me, the TERRORISTS KNOW when we foil one of their plots! It really serves NO PURPOSE to keep this information confidential from the voters!

The very same thing is true about the way the GOP handled the portrayal of the economy. While the Democrats were crying gloom and doom, people were BUYING big screen plasma TV sets in record numbers. Since this is hardly a necessity of life, it would seem to indicate a general prosperity. We live in a nation where every teenager has their own cell phone, with customized ring tones, and color screens, yet the media tells us we are in some sort of recession! Our POOR PEOPLE suffer from OBESITY and wear $200 Nike's! We have RECORD home ownership rates for MINORITIES! And again, the Republicans ALLOWED the Democrats to set the agenda and define the issues. What a HUGE mistake!

But I think the BIGGEST failure was in this ill fated attempt to force Democracy on Moslems. Let me explain...

The WAR in IRAQ was WON three weeks after it started. That banner on the USS Lincoln was actually correct. The MISSION (to topple Saddam, an enabler of terrorism) WAS COMPLETED!

But then we took a wrong turn and decided we would make Moslems into Democracy loving people!

We WON THE WAR, and now we are struggling with the ill fated attempt to make Moslems stop killing each other. We decided we were going to rebuild Iraq into a Middle Eastern version of the USA, so it would never be a threat to us again. This was and still is a HUGE MISTAKE!

"Nation Building" is a noble idea, but it cannot be applied indiscriminately. It worked in Germany and Japan, but it will fail in Iraq. It will fail because we cannot impose Democracy on Moslems. To understand why you must first understand Islam and Democracy...

All Democracies share common traits. Among these are:
1. Equal rights for women. Universal suffrage...
2. Tolerance of other religions...
3. Free press, and tolerance for political dissent...
4. Separation of Church and State...

Now, all four of these things are direct violations of Islamic belief. They are in fact, 'heresy'. Without a doubt, there are SOME Moslems who will want them, because after all Islam is a huge religion with over a billion adherents, some of whom are "casual Moslems." Much like we have casual Christians, and casual Jews. People who just aren't very religious...

But those folks will always be a small minority among Moslems. The VAST majority of Moslems want Sharia Law, the subjugation of women, the suppression of other religious faiths, and Imams and Mullahs having secular power...

Nation Building was a mistake and a blunder. Something President Bush criticized President Clinton for doing, then went ahead and tried to do himself. Does anyone doubt that the INSTANT we leave Iraq, chaos will erupt? The Democratic government will fail, and the warlords will take over. In retrospect, we probably should have just toppled Saddam (which was a good idea) and installed our own set of friendly Moslem warlords, while retaining our military bases there...

As it is, we'll have Military Bases in and around Iraq for years and years to come as it is...

You may also be aware that right now in Afghanistan the Warlords are back in charge. Except now we call them "Provisional Governors" despite the fact that they are exactly the same people who used to be called "Warlords." At least there, in Afghanistan we went for a practical, rather than an idealistic but unworkable solution and it is working in Afghanistan...

Nation Building can actually work, but only in places that had Democratic institutions in the past or who have religions that will tolerate it. In other words, any place but the Islamic World...

Democracy is not a new concept...

It has spread all over the globe, with the sole exception of Islamic regions. Ask yourself why? I say, the reason is because it is in direct conflict with Islam. The two cannot coexist peacefully. And imposing Democracy on Moslems is well intentioned, but destined to be failure. Because the vast majority of them will see it as a breach of their Religion...

Will we learn anything from all of this? I hope we do, but I really doubt it...

We simply don't understand how to fight a political war. We are the amateurs. They are the professionals, who learned their lesson from Joseph Goebbels. The "Big Lie" really works. David Horowitz was right. The Democrats are much better street fighters than the Republicans are...

So the Republicans LOST because of poor policy (i.e. "nation building") that was compounded by poor political execution (failure to fight back aggressively enough.)...

For Now That's Just 'OUR' Opinion...
