I am listening to the radio coverage of the elections and I hear nothing but exit polls, blah, blah, blah.  This is a work in progress follow me on this.  A note will be at the end when my thoughts are finished.

/rant on

There was a drive in 1996 to adopt the scientific method of polls as hard evidence or fact.  That did not make it through, thank goodness.  What is this method?  Survey 600-1220 people by randomly calling the home phones of these people, and asking them a series of fixed questions.  They compile these questions and present the numbers as a factual event.  This may work in area of production where there is a consistent set of variables, when you mix in human thought and emotion; there is NO SCIENTIFIC method that can accurately predict ANY outcome in any instance that involves human thought.

The Democrats DEMANDED we use scientific methods to count the Citizens of the United States for the 2000 census.  The reason, not everyone could fill out a form, and the scientific method assures they are all counted.  The problem, you can not apply the scientific method to population centers, or lack thereof.

The Democrats SUED to recount again and again and again in the 2000 election.  They wanted to take the exit polls as evidence that Al Gore won.  The problem, you can NOT apply the scientific method to human choice.   ** Note: Al Gore even lost all of the recounts that were done, and only the hypothetical events were able to make him win **

The Democrats were CONVINCED that John Kerry WON based on exit polling.  Once the votes were counted, the blame for him losing?  The election was STOLEN!  Those damn republicans!  How DARE the American people prove the Democrats were WRONG!

Polls are used to make NEWS casts as facts.  That should be a criminal offense.  I am firmly entrenched in the belief that if you went to EVERY person in the US who is eligible to vote, and asked all of the exact same questions that are asked in these polls, you will find results wildly different than a sample of 600-1200 randomly selected called people.  ANY news agency that puts a poll on the air as FACT should be fined by the FCC.

Polls are used by the so called MSM to suppress ANYONE who does not think they way they want.

Polls are used by the MSM to intimidate the general public and to demean the Office of the President.

These should be criminal events and Polls should be removed from newscasts and news reports when they are presented as FACT.

How does this happen?  When the leading story is “EXIT POLL: KERRY WINS Florida!  Bush expected to concede!”  That is ok to say from one person to another, when you add a news anchor saying that in front of a camera it should be CRIMINAL.  It is not a proven fact.  http://www.exit-poll.net/election-night/EvaluationJan192005.pdf  for those who want to state the exit polls were right.  READ that first please.

In the 1980’s there was something called the Truth in Advertising act passed, so that our children would not have to hear lies in commercials.  WHY can we not do this for newscasts?
