After a recent discussion with our resident liberal, Balboa, I’d like to pose a question to our active duty military personnel, as well as to the retired members here.
Often times, from our liberal brethren, we hear “I support the troops”. All the while, decrying the goals, tactics, and strategic objectives of the United States of America.
My question is this:
Does someone who actively criticizes, and/or openly attacks our efforts in the War on Terror, all the while professing a desire to return our active duty personnel “as soon as is humanly possible” support the troops”?
Particularly without offering any alternatives?
The thread takes a bit to wade through, but if you can read it to the end, you’ll understand exactly why I’m asking this question. Sorry I’ve linked to the beginning…I tried four times to pick it up in the middle, to no avail. Try about a third of the way down.

January 25, 2007 - 13:02 ET by Troika37A similar discussion is going on now re: "We're still trying to figure out" how to support the troops and bash the war at every turn. Your post is one of the most concise, clear and cogent analyses of the topic. I shouldn't be surprised, then, to learn you are ALSO a Navy vet, as well as educated... "Stuck in Iraq" obviously applies in this instance as well. Thank you for taking the time to lay it all out and remove each leg of the "support and surrender" argument. Well said.

Thanks for revisiting this issue.
I'd been wondering about it for a while, and while I know what my thoughts were on the subject, it was most gratifying to know that those whom I admire the most, were of a simliar mind as myself.
Clyde nailed it. I'm thinking of e-mailing his reply to numerous Senators who are considering this idiotic straw resolution.
Support
January 26, 2007 - 16:04 ET by Jerry MackThe idea being put forward is that funding for the troops is support for them. We are supposed to ignore such statements as: they are demoralized, they are so depressed that they have to take antidepressants,we can not win this war, they terrorise women and children in the middle of the night, they are terrorist, we should get out immediately and many more.
I do not interpret this as support.
