Vern Buchanan Rally With Sen. Mel Martinez...

SARASOTA, FL. (NS) -

I had the honor and privilege of attending the Rally held today at Dolphin Aviation off N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota...

The crowd I estimated at about 150 had gathered to hear Sen. Mel Martinez address them in a 'Unity Rally' for supporters of local businessman, turned 13th Congressional District candidate, Vern Buchanan...

Before the meeting the VFW met with Candidate Buchanan, along with members of several Veterans groups, to endorse him for Congress in the 13th Florida Congressional District. Lt. Col. Lee Kichen, U.S. Army Ret., read the endorsement from the VFW with Sen. Mel Martinez also in the room. I am honored to say I was also in the room with my Firefighter Veteran friend Jim Costa, Fire Medic, Sarasota County Fire Department...

Then Vern went out of the meeting with the Vets and was introduced to the crowd of supporters waiting to hear and see him and Sen. Mel Martinez...

Once again Vern told the crowd how he stood on issues facing Florida 13th Congressional District residents. He mentioned Homeland Security, Immigration, Affordable Housing, Balancing the Budget, Helping small Business, Creating more Jobs, helping our Veterans and assisting in advancing Education...

Then Vern looked squarely at the group of Red Shirted SRQ Airport IAFF 2546 Firefighters I was proudly standing with and thanked them for their support and said, "I support you and I will help you with the issues you face."

Needless to say the entire room applauded loudly at that point. There were also several other rounds of applause as both Sen. Martinez and Vern addressed the group of supporters...

Now the campaign starts running once again at full speed as the Republicans are rallying their base of supporters to keep the 13th Florida Congressional seat in GOP hands...

With the support of the Veterans, Firefighters, Police and the Republican base that will be possible but not an easy job this time as Democrats have 'targeted' this District as they try to take back control of the House of Representatives...

The 13th FL Congressional District is currently occupied by Katherine Harris who is running for the U.S. Senate against incumbent Bill Nelson (D)... 

Don't know about any of you, but I get a very 'sour' taste in my mouth at the very thought of Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House...

That same thought was shared by everyone at the Rally when it was brought up...

So for now we'll see where things go as the Pollsters,Prognosticators and Liberal Media come out of the woodwork trying to sway public opinion...

However it is up to the Voters and the Party that rallies their base and actually turns out the vote WILL win the 13th Florida Congressional District race...
