Rosie on Day Two of ‘The View:’ Attacking Rush And Promoting a Gay ‘Big Brother’

Well, that certainly didn’t take long. On her first day, new co-host Rosie O’Donnell muted (slightly) some of her well known liberalism. On September 6, only her second appearance, she made a crack about Rush Limbaugh’s prescription drug problem and promoted a gay ‘Survivor.’ O’Donnell was discussing, shockingly, Tom Cruise when co-host Joy Behar swerved a conversation on prescription drugs into an unrelated, liberal direction:

Behar: "Well, I like Tom, too...but he is not an expert in this particular area. There are scientists and doctors who are experts. It’s like when Rush Limbaugh, know who he is? He says that there's no global warming. Two million scientists say there is global warming, but Rush Limbaugh, no, there is no global warming."

O’Donnell: "He also said he didn’t have 100 bottles of OxyContin in his room."

Ms. Behar replied with the relatively lame retort, "He’s producing more hot air then anybody." O’Donnell apparently couldn’t agree more. She responded, "You’re not kidding." (This isn’t the first time the show has promoted the theory of global warming. ‘View’ watchers will remember that veteran ABC journalist Barbara Walters endorsed Al Gore’s movie, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ back in June.)

The "View" crew also discussed the ethnic grouping on the upcoming season of "Survivor." O’Donnell immediately conceived of a version she would like to see:

O’Donnell: "No, I thought it would be really good if then they had a fifth tribe of one ethnicity of each group, but gays. Because the gay people always win on the reality shows....Did you see Marquis [She’s actually referring to Marcellas Reynolds] on ‘Big Brother?’....He’s totally gay. He’s super gay."

Did anyone think hat the former comedienne might be mindful of the fact that children watch television in the mornings and not discuss sexual issues? Well, don’t count on it.

It should be noted that with the addition of the leftist Rosie O’Donnell, the program now has three liberals and only Elisabeth Hasselback as the token Republican. And this is a show that’s supposed to represent women? Considering that 48 percent of women voted for Bush in 2004, and that stay-at-home mothers tend to be more conservative, that doesn’t seem very balanced. But then, why would anyone expect that?
