Farmers, Immigration, Angry White Male Democrats
From the Oregonian: Oregon farmer says "Our borders have dried up," thus they have no workers. He is appealing to the angry white male Democrat Earl Blumenauer who has a plan. Blumenauer will make changes in the $23-Billion farm bill for 2007.
His answer to the farmers' immigration problem? Get the rich. "We should move subsidies away from a few commodities where we don't need to encourage excess production to instead support sustainable practice. This will stop the flow of two-thirds of the total subsidies going to the richest 10 percent of the farming community and half the payments going to only six states."
The Oregonian seems to think turning to angry white male Democrats is generally the answer to all of Oregon's problems. In a puff piece for OR congressman and socialist Peter DeFazio they headlined his "angry" personality as a favorable trait. This 1960s anti-war retread is running against a tall handsome Gulf-war vet who is a former FBI man in the anti-terrorist division. But, according to the Oregonian veteran anger in Democrats is best. Such anger is "political savvy" for DeFazio. The media had a different description for Congressman Sensenbrenner who was described as "prickly," "cantakerous" and "unpleasant." For DeFazio, and fellow lefty Blumenauer, it is a reason to vote for them. Forget about that tall handsome and pleasant personality, Jim Feldkamp from the Gulf War.
