MSNBC's Ed Schultz, Who Called Laura Ingraham a 'Slut,' Huffs About Right-Wing Vulgarities
MSNBC, the cable network where Martin Bashir suggested someone should defecate down Sarah Palin's throat, the network that features a host who trashed Laura Ingraham as a "slut," has developed an aversion to vulgarity. Well, vulgarities that are aimed at liberals. On Tuesday's Ed Show, Ed Schultz highlighted a dinner of wealthy businessmen in New York.
According to Schultz, the attendees "perform variety shows that include jokes that, of course, we couldn't share with you here on the Ed Show." The outraged anchor complained, "Let's see, there was a sexist joke about Hillary Clinton and a homophobic joke made about former Congressman Barney Frank." [See video below. MP3 audio here.] This is the same Schultz who assailed "bastard," "dirthole" conservatives.
This is the same network that employs Schultz, a man who said this on his May 24, 2011 radio program sneered: "Like this right-wing slut, what’s her name, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she’s a talk slut."
On November 15, 2013, Martin Bashir wished that someone would defecate and urinate on Palin.
But Schultz thinks that vulgar and sexist jokes "can't be shared with you here on the Ed Show"? Or does that only depend on who is the target of such shocking comments?
A partial transcript of the February 18 show is below:
ED SCHULTZ: A new report in the New York magazine shows just out of touch these folks are, the special society. Wealthy Wall Streeters have created their own fraternity that's not much different than the one they were probably in in college. Kappa Beta Phi is a fraternity of Wall Street bankers and executive who get together for the annual shindig banquet. Lots of back slapping going on. This is part of their culture.
SCHULTZ: Now, as hazing, the neophytes are required to dress up in drag. Probably wouldn't go over in the Castle North Dakota gun club. But, whatever. That's what they do. They perform variety shows that include jokes that, of course, we couldn't share with you here on The Ed Show. Let's see, there was a sexist joke about Hillary Clinton and a homophobic joke made about former Congressman Barney Frank.
