ABC Skips Actor Liam Neeson Slamming Lib Mayor Bill de Blasio: 'Man Up'

March 10th, 2014 5:20 PM

Once again, ABC's Good Morning America avoided an issue that makes liberal New York Mayor Billl de Blasio look bad. CBS This Morning and NBC's Today on Monday both highlighted how popular actor Liam Neeson slammed the Democrat, telling him to "man up." Neeson and others are furious that de Blasio wants to ban horse-drawn carriage rides within the city.

This Morning guest co-host Anthony Mason informed, "On Sunday, Neeson showed lawmakers the stables that show carriage horses that travel through Central Park. Neeson says the horses are well cared for." He added, "Neeson says, quote, '[de Blasio] should have manned up and come.'" On Today, Carson Daly noted, "Bill de Blasio wants to shut down the service, saying that the horses aren't treated humanely." Daly described the Taken movie star as "lashing out" over this. [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

Daly noted, "Mayor de Blasio says he does plans to tour the stables to help operators find new jobs."

Neeson previously slammed the mayor on the Daily Show. In 2014, ABC has repeatedly skipped negative stories on de Blasio.

A transcript of the Today segment is below:

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: And looks like Neeson is using those particular set of skills in real life.

CARSON DALY: He's taking on the mayor of New York over those popular horse drawn carriages. Bill de Blasio wants to shut down the service, saying that the horses aren't treated humanely. Neeson says that's not true. And when the mayor refused his offer to tour horse stables on Sunday, Neeson lashed out at him, telling him to man up. Take a look.

LIAM NEESON: This is an industry here since before Abraham Lincoln's first inauguration. These horses are well cared for. It's a connection with the past. It's a connection with our history.

DALY: Mayor de Blasio says he does plans to tour the stables to help operators find new jobs.
