Leno: ‘American Hustle - a Film About the Marketing of ObamaCare’

January 14th, 2014 9:30 AM

Jay Leno continued his unrelenting attacks on the White House Monday.

The NBC Tonight Show host opened last night’s show saying the film “American Hustle” is “about the marketing of ObamaCare” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

JAY LENO: Did you all watch the Golden Globes last night? [Applause] Tina Fey, Amy Poehler very funny. Boy, they are just the best. Of course, the big winner, the big winner was "American Hustle,” a film about the marketing of ObamaCare. I thought that was fascinating. [Laughter and applause]

What makes the joke even funnier is "American Hustle" is loosely based on the late 1970s/early 1980s FBI operation called ABSCAM which eventually morphed into an investigation into public corruption.

A few minutes later, Leno continued on Obama:

LENO: And in the wake of this embarrassing scandal, Governor Christie has fired the person responsible, to which President Obama said, "You can do that? Really?" [Applause]

Well, you know, former, former secretary of state [sic] Robert Gates has written a scathing indictment of the Obama administration in his new book going so far as to say that every decision Joe Biden made was wrong. But the White House said, "No, Joe Biden has played a key role in almost every decision." So it’s hard to tell if the White House is complimenting Biden or just trying to spread the blame. I'm not sure. [Laughter] I'm trying to figure it out which.

So are we, Jay. So are we.
