ABC, CBS, Reuters Sign Ad for Gay Marriage
Politico’s magazine Politico Pro is sitting in their newspaper boxes right now. The magazine includes an ad for the Orwellian-sounding “Respect for Marriage Coalition,” now trying to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act in the Supreme Court.
The ad’s headline is “America’s leading businesses agree: same-sex couples deserve to be treated equally.” Among the corporations listed are major news and entertainment companies:
The Walt Disney Company (ABC)
Viacom Inc. (MTV etc.)
CBS Corporation
Thomson Reuters
Verizon Communications
"We're proud to join the HRC and our coalition partners in supporting this important initiative that reflects Thomson Reuters’ own principles and policies on diversity, inclusion, fairness and equality," proclaimed Patsy Doerr, "Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion" at Thomson Reuters.
It’s a little shocking Comcast and NBC Universal aren’t listed. Social-media companies are also listed: Facebook, Twitter, Inc, Google, Inc., and LinkedIn Corp.
