Andrea Mitchell On Immigration: McCain 'Heroic,' Conservatives Focused On Border 'Ought To Be Ashamed'

Want to be "heroic" on immigration in Andrea Mitchell's eyes? Easy: team up with Chuck Schumer and President Obama to push amnesty through Congress.  Want to earn Andrea's ire?  Focus on border security.  She'll scold you and say you should be "ashamed."

Yes, there was Andrea on today's Morning Joe, praising amnesty-pushing McCain as "heroic," while scolding conservatives who want to focus on border security. They "ought to be be ashamed," said Mitchell. View the video after the jump.

Andrea's entitled to her opinion.  But for MSNBC to call Mitchell a "correspondent," rather than the ardent liberal partisan she is, makes a mockery of the network's lexicon.

ANDREA MITCHELL: Here you've got the business community, the Chamber of Commerce, the agriculture community, evangelicals, Catholics, clergymen all across the country, and they are not listening, because in their districts it does not pay any benefit. There is no cost to voting against immigration.  And the piecemeal approach is basically saying, let's throw a lot of money at border security.  John McCain has pointed out—and he's been heroic on this issue—he has pointed out that it is a total waste of money what they did in the Senate, but it is political cover. But to do border security and nothing else: these fiscal conservatives ought to be ashamed.
