AP Scrubs Inflammatory 'Captains of the Religious Right' Comment From Easter Sermon at Service Obama Family Attended

March 31st, 2013 9:03 PM

At the Weekly Standard's blog today, Daniel Halper relayed a pool reporter's notes from the Easter service President Barack Obama and his family attended this morning. The highlights from the Rev. Dr. Luis Leon's sermon" included the following statement: "It drives me crazy when the captains of the religious right are always calling us back ... for blacks to be back in the back of the bus ... for women to be back in the kitchen ... for immigrants to be back on their side of the border."

What follows the jump is the report on the event from Stacy A. Anderson at the Associated Press, aka the Administration's Press (produced in full for fair use and discussion purposes):

Here's a question for the Rev. Leon: Which "captains of the religious right are always calling us back ... for blacks to be back in the back of the bus ... for women to be back in the kitchen ... for immigrants to be back on their side of the border." There's a commandment you're violating if you won't name one, and I'm betting you don't have the guts to publicly do so -- because there isn't anyone considered a "captain of the religious right" who has said any such thing.

As seen above, the AP's Ms. Anderson, either having attended the service herself of having received the same pool reporter's notes as Halper, chose to ignore Rev. Leon's inflammatory and patently false remarks. You can virtually take it to the bank that the Rev. Leon's comments won't be mentioned on any of the network or cable news shows tomorrow -- except perhaps on Fox. There isn't a chance in Hades that the establishment press would similarly ignore anything a "captain" (whatever that is) of the religious right said which was even in the neighborhood of what Rev. Leon accuses these unnamed "captains" of publicly believing and personally supporting. Additionally, they would be demanding that any Republican or conservative politician who heard such words utterances to publicly denounce them or put their career's continuance at risk.

The Media Research Center continually calls out the establishment press for censoring the news. here it is another example, as if we didn't have quite enough of them already.
