Report: Elisabeth Hasselbeck Booted From ‘The View’ for Being ‘Too Extreme and Right-wing’

ABC might be getting rid of the lone conservative on its daytime talk show The View.

So claimed Us magazine Friday in a piece titled "Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaving The View After Nine Years, Viewers Found Her Too Extreme and Right Wing'":

elisabeth-hasselbeck4.jpgThe people have spoken. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, one of the five cohorts of ABC's daytime talk show The View, will not be returning to the couch next season, following hot on the footsteps of fellow cohost Joy Behar, a source tells Us Weekly.

According to the source, the show's resident conservative voice is being ousted after market research revealed that she isn't popular with TV audiences.

"The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing," the insider tells Us. "People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed."

TVNewser reports:

In a statement, a spokesperson for “The View” tells TVNewser, “Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of ‘The View’ and has a long term contract.”

When pressed on whether she would be returning next season, the spokesperson replied, “she has a long term contract.”

Depending on who's right, The View could be undergoing a dramatic change in personality as Joy Behar announced earlier this week that she would be leaving at the end of the season.

That said, what would this show be like without one conservative voice?

Oh, that's right. Any program on MSNBC!
