CNN's Ashleigh Banfield: Jerusalem 'Is Not The Capital' of Israel

November 16th, 2012 5:22 PM

Why don't America's media members want to acknowledge Jerusalem as being the capital of Israel?

On CNN Newsroom Friday, Ashleigh Banfield actually said, "Rockets fired at Jerusalem. It is not the capital at this point, but it is the disputed center of the universe so to speak when it comes to Israel" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

ASHLEIGH BANFIELD: Soon on this program we're going to be able to have a conversation with the Mayor of Jerusalem. We are working that interview up for you live. Again, the extraordinary development here: rockets fired at Jerusalem. It is not the capital at this point, but it is the disputed center of the universe so to speak when it comes to Israel. And for the first time since the 1970s, rockets now fired at that major city just two hours drive away from Tel Aviv where they have been enduring several days now of this. And the air raid sirens are now going off in both of these cities. So this continues, and we will stay on it throughout this entire hour.

Jerusalem "is not the capital at this point?"

What is, Ashleigh?

Of course, Banfield wasn't the only media member having problems with her nations' capitals Friday.

As Politico reported, the Associated Press also seemed Jerusalem-challenged.

Must be something in the water.
