Mark Russell: 'No Comedian Wants Obama to Win'

September 22nd, 2012 12:28 PM

Political satirist Mark Russell came out of retirement Friday to trash Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Speaking to PBS Inside Washington host Gordon Peterson, Russell said, "No comedian wants Obama to win. We may vote for Obama, but we want, we want Romney" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

"I gave him some advice one time," Russell continued. "I said, ‘Mitt, just relax and be one of yourselves.’"

Strange way for Peterson to end Friday's decidedly left-leaning program.

Rather than it being three liberals and Peterson to Charles Krauthammer's sole conservative view, the producers opted this week to make it five to one: Bloomberg's Margaret Carlson, Washington Post's Colby King, Politico's Roger Simon, and NPR's Nina Totenberg.

I guess they felt devoting 20 percent of the airtime to conservative views was too much.
