CNN's Piers Morgan is up in arms again over guns, and tried to use Wednesday's shooting at the Family Research Council to shill for more gun control. There's one problem – the shooter was not obeying Washington D.C.'s strict gun laws.
"We've had only today the conservative Family Research Council, a shooting that may well have been politically motivated," Morgan said before asking Newark Mayor Corey Booker (D), "When you take all these things into consideration, you must be disappointed that the President isn't ordering some new form of gun control, aren't you?" Morgan had lumped the FRC shooting in with recent shootings in Colorado and Wisconsin, both of which he used to call for more gun control. In the case of the FRC shooting, however, the perpetrator was not following gun laws.
As Emily Miller of the Washington Times explains, concealed carry is not legal in D.C., and outsiders cannot take their guns into the city unless they are properly transporting them according to federal transport laws. The shooter was obviously not law-abiding by brandishing and using a firearm outside a place of residence.
"You have been incredible on this issue," Booker lauded Morgan, adding he was a "champion" for gun control on his extremely slanted show the night of the Aurora shooting.

Last time you came on my show you said the level of violence we have in America is preventable and that most Americans, Republican and Democrat, gun owners and not, actually agree on some common sense solutions.
Now since then we've had the Aurora massacre, the Wisconsin Sikh temple abomination. We've had only today the conservative Family Research Council, a shooting that may well have been politically motivated. When you take all these things into consideration, you must be disappointed that the President isn't ordering some new form of gun control, aren't you?
