How Kooky Is Daily Kos? Obama's a GOP 'Hostage,' MoveOn.org Is Just 'Moderate Left'

Just when conservatives think there's finally a little ideological balance in the Congress, the far-left diarists of the Daily Kos are convinced the country has dangerously shifted to the right, led by Obama, who's now a "hostage" to Republicans, and even MoveOn.org is too "moderate left" for them. The blogger  Shutterbug thinks it's time to ponder the presidential psychosis:

If we accept that the ‘hostages’ Obama referred to when he justified the tax deal were indeed a section of the the American people, with the Oligarchs playing the role of hostage takers...

I'm pondering the existence of some electoral equivalent of the Stockholm Syndrome.

Could this have spread to, or from some of our leaders if it was incubated over several cycles?

What if a certain politician was already pre-disposed to something like this?...

It’s not enough to lay all this at the doorstep of a complicit media or the well funded machine.

The Red Party as it currently stands would be relegated to a side-show of extremism in most other developed countries.

The Blue Party would be considered right of center in many of those same countries, and yet in the USA they are called socialist, marxist, and more recently ‘among the most corrupt’

The reasons are partly cultural and partly due to the Red teams deceitfulness and willingness to lie in order to gain power.

But there is also some form of political Stockholm syndrome being exploited here.

Take Obama: smart, moderate, Presidential, genuine (imo), a phenomenon, fiery when he wants to be, a visionary, and a natural communicator.

Hostage also?

And then there's the blogger Tom P., who thinks that MoveOn.org and Democracy for America (founded by Howard Dean and run by his brother Jim) is somehow the "moderate" left:

The media has defined centrist policies of this adminstration, band-aids to fundamental flaws in our economic and political system, as the left, and pushed the Overton Window to the right...

This is why we need a left in this nation.  This President is not it....

There needs to be real left in this nation that is not owned by the Obama adminstration or the Democratic Party.

MoveOn and DFA are moderate left and perhaps a start, but too easily controlled by the Obama administration, an adminstration that is increasingly irrelevant to the real problems of this nation.  Yes, they will fight to save the band-aids, and band-aids do help people, but the gross inequality will continue as will the suffering of so many.

Twilight Zone music, anyone?
