NewsBusters contributor Scott Whitlock's May 4 item, "MSNBC's Contessa Brewer 'Frustrated' That Times Square Bomber Is a Muslim" was noticed by Fox News Channel "Special Report" anchor Bret Baier, who included a reference to the story and the underlying controversy in his May 5 "Grapevine" segment.

Brewer, a daytime live news anchor, told liberal talk show host Stephanie Miller on Tuesday regarding the Times Square bombing suspect that, "There was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country."

Whitlock posted his NewsBusters item shortly after noon on Tuesday and Brewer responded on her Facebook page three hours later:

I'm getting flak for expressing disappointment during a radio intvw, that the NYC bomb suspect has links to Pakistan. I wasn't hoping the suspect would be of a particular nationality, race, or religion. Instead, I worry ppl will use this to justify racism & religious bigotry. Mayor Bloomberg is concerned enough to say:... I want to make clear we will not tolerate bias or backlash against Pakistani or Muslim New Yorkers.
