'Rush Limbaugh! The Musical' Debuts in Chicago End of the Month

Germans may soon have "HOPE - The Obama Musical Story," but Chicagans are about to get "Rush Limbaugh! The Musical."

Produced by the Windy City's longtime comedy troupe Second City, the score features "a pastiche of Broadway musicals such as Spring Awakening, Wicked, and Rent. You can call it 'Dispirit of the Radio.'”

The show's website boasts (h/t Story Balloon):

Brought to you by the same team that made Rod Blagojevich Superstar! an instant hit, Rush Limbaugh! The Musical takes us back to Rush’s humble beginnings and follows his ascent to conservative dominance buoyed by characters like Ann Coulter, Karl Rove, and Donald Rumsfeld despite confrontations with Hillary Clinton and Barney Frank.

The actor playing Limbaugh has set up a blog to chronicle the experience:

Okay...so I'm about to become Rush Limbaugh. It's a daunting task to say the least. Needless to say, I have not portrayed a character with this much of a loyal following since I had the lead in "Manson: The Musical". When I first got the part, I was excited. You know, a little singing, a little dancing, a few laughs. Then I read Chris Jones' blog about the show. Or, to be more specific, I read the responses to the blog. The show hasn't opened yet, heck I haven't even seen the whole script, and already the debate over the appropriateness of it is raging.

I can't wait to read the reviews.

How about you?
