On Tuesday, June 17, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow played up video that surfaced from 2012 of Thom Tillis, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in North Carolina, speaking about the changing demographics in the Tar Heel state. During the interview, the North Carolina Speaker of the House remarked “The traditional population in North Carolina and in the United States is more or less stable. It's not growing.” Unsurprisingly, Maddow quickly jumped on Tillis’ comments and remarked “This is sort of like George Allen and his Macaca comments in the Virginia Senate race.”
