NBC Anchor Nags Gore to Run for President

Meredith Vieira might as well have been cheerleading “G-O-R-E: He’s the candidate we want to see” in her July 5 interview with the former vice president.

After Gore said he did not “have any plans or intentions to be a candidate,” the NBC “Today” anchor pressured him to reconsider.

Vieira cited public support – “the polls show in this country at least, people agree with you – a majority of people agree this is the number one issue in terms of our environment.”

Gore warned that we must “solve” global warming and said that the next president will be “crucial” to the solution. Vieira then urged his candidacy again.

“But if this is the number one moral issue and the president is the key player here, then why wouldn’t the man whose face – is the face of the issue be running for president?” Vieira asked. Gore insisted the “American people” were the key players, but Vieira continued to press the matter. “But, the president sets the agenda,” Vieira interrupted.

Even Vieira acknowledged that she was “beating a dead horse or donkey, I guess in this case” before asking him if he has absolutely decided not to run.

Gore said he would not make a “Sherman” statement, but “If I do my job right, then all of them [the presidential candidates] will make this their top issue.”

Gore: "If I do my job right, then all of them [presidential candidates] will make this their top issue."

Does he really think he has a job?

Does he have a job??!!!

Of course he does! He founded a company that trades carbon credits. If there is no climate change that can be affected by humans, then there is no need to trade carbon credits and he is unemployed again.

He obviously has a HUGE incentive to keep the issue alive.

It doesn't appear that Al is doing his job very well then. Gore Challenges Congress on Climate:

His recommendations began with the immediate national freeze on new emissions of carbon dioxide ...

... and included an overhaul of the tax code. Payroll taxes should go down, Gore said, and taxes on polluters, especially those who emit carbon dioxide, should go up.

Gore recommended a ban on incandescent light bulbs ...

... raising the fuel-efficiency standards for cars; and a "carbon-neutral mortgage association."

With the exception of raising fuel-efficiency standards for cars, I haven't heard about Congress doing very much on any of his suggestions.

My hypocrisy gag-reflex is so finely-tuned that as soon as I saw the name "Viera" I started to retch, but this is just over the top!

I want him to run too.  I am up for some entertainment and Dean isn't running.  Edwards, Gore, and Clinton; now that would be a show worth watching!

if only we could be so lucky

if only we could be so lucky for Gore to run, unfortunately I think he knows he spent all his political capital in his attempt to steal the election in 2000.  I also think he knows he can make alot more money hyping up "global warming" especially when he only gives softball interviews to pretty newsreaders.  In a run for president Al would be forced to debate and face facts, not a winning proposal for him.

Normally I wouldn't care abou

Normally I wouldn't care about Meredith Vieira begging Al Gore to run. Frankly, not to give ammunition to the other side, but Sean Hannity does the same thing. He begs Newt to run during every appearance.

However, I couldn't help but notice the striking contrast here between having to beg Gore to run versus the idea that Fred Thompson doesn't have enough "fire in the belly." Gore is clearly shell-shocked by his loss in 2000, and he doesn't want to go through it again. And if he doesn't want to put his family through the wringer for a year, especially after his son's troubles, then I compliment him for having those priorities straight. However, you can't then turn around and attack Fred Thompson for (supposedly) hesitating before entering the race.

Hell, I still think that the presidency is the ultimate idiot test. Anyone who would be willing to go through it has got to be an idiot.

There's a difference between

There's a difference between Sean and Meredith. With Sean, you know where he stands on the political spectrum. He comes right out and says "I'm a conservative Republican" and then he goes on to endorse Republican candidates.

With Meredith, she does the endorsing without being upfront about her political leanings. Therefore it leaves people with the impression that she's an unbiased journalist who just happens to endorse Democrat candidates and issues, and this is a common problem with the MSM.

Besides, Sean Hannity never

Besides, Sean Hannity never claims to be a "reporter." He is a commentator, and, as you said, upfront about his political leanings. He never pretends to be an unbiased journalist. Vieira does.

I think Hannity's finest mome

I think Hannity's finest moment in recent memory was his interview with Ohio Sen. Voinovich, regarding the proposed Senate 'immigration reform' bill.  Voinovich at the time was urging Republicans to vote for it.  Hannity wouldn't let him get off easy, and pressed him on his knowledge of what was in the bill, and Voinovich finally conceded that he had merely "read most of the executive summaries."  Voinovich looked like a shallow, bumper-sticker politico.

And when the bill finally came to the floor for a vote, Voinovich voted against it.  There's little doubt that his exposure in the Hannity interview -- and probably tons of EMail and letters coming into his office --- persuaded him to change.

That was a great interview.

That was a great interview.  Voinovich didn't know what the hell he was talking about, then accused Hannity of attacking him when he couldn't answer any straight-forward questions.  Didn't read the bill?  What is he doing voting on something that he didn't read?  Scary to think that this is what you get in the Senate with our futures and livelihoods in jeopardy from illegal aliens--he didn't even read the bill.  Just unbelievable.

Well, no insult to Hannity, b

Well, no insult to Hannity, but he didn't have to work hard in that interview. I heard it replayed later. Was that also the interview where Hannity asked whether Voinovich wanted to bring back the Fairness Doctrine, and Voinovich said sure, why not, he's for fairness? Millions of automobiles must have swerved on the highway at that moment; because everyone was slapping their foreheads in disbelief.

That was the jump the shark m

That was the jump the shark moment for Voinovich. It's really time for him to retire and draw his generous pension.

The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on.

Sure was Chris...

I inserted the link here awhile back when Cry-Baby Voinovich and Hannity had that back and forth...simply amazing he did not even know how a vote ended that HE voted on himself let alone the BS about the Fairness Doctrine.

I pray they put a real conservative to run against him like many other RINO's....

Meredith Vieira Racist Proof of the Progressives

Meredith Vieira's begging and pestering of Al Gore a second time has got to be viewed as spectacular news for the following reasons:

1. Vieira has deemed like all liberals that Hillary is a certain looser. Bill being trotted out this week is a certain sign her campaign has tanked.

2. Vieira has deemed Fred Thompson a landslide candidate which only Al Gore might be able to stop.

3. Vieira has proven that these racist progressives only get "blacks involved" to appear big tent, but when it comes to the reality that Obama is raising more money and just might be democratic president.....then it is liberals who want a "white guy" in the race to beat him. That is racism in it's disgusting form which is Letterman central of how they cocktail party talk.

4. Edwards and the rest of the mutt and jeff crowd have been judged so light weight that Vieira is getting desperate in begging Al Gore to win.

The event to watch for in the press is for Vieira and comradery to start mentioning a "grass roots draft Gore" campaign. This is certain to be the sign they are running a coup on Hillary. Their opening will be when Fred Thompson announces as he will be a literal draft candidate against the RINO's.

We await the day though for racist Vieira to don her Washington White Skins cheerleader uniform to cheer on GlobAL Gore on Today. Why blacks and hispanics put up with this garbage in voting for democrats is beyond understanding in the way they are treated.

It really irks me to hear of

It really irks me to hear of a "show hostess"/”journalist” who we assume will be impartial because they do not declare their bias up front, starts pushing Gore to run. While the rest of the MSM ignore Republican candidates until they have a hit piece.  We have a corrupt media plain and simple.

And this is why Gore won't

And this is why Gore won't run for President again.  Because with politicians, it's all about vanity.  Gore enjoys being known in liberal minds as the legitimate President who was elected in 2000.  Also, I think that narrowly missing the responsibility of being President on 911 spooked him.
