After observing the lunacy that nearly transpired in the U.S. Senate earlier today with the scamnesty bill, it is clear the many in the Republican Party have lost their way. We need someone who will help put the train back on the tracks and send the RINOs packing.
Fred Thompson has two internet sites that I know will interest many of my friends here at NB.
This one most of us are probably familiar with: http://fredfile.imwi...
This is a new forum that was just started up a few days ago: http://fredthompson0...
Folks, I don't have to tell you here what the stakes are in '08. We cannot afford a Hildebeast or that Barack Obama guy in the Oval Office. Nor can we afford another RINO like George W. Bush.
We need a real conservative.

I would suggest Ron Paul. He puts any "conservative" I've ever seen to shame...

June 29, 2007 - 13:47 ET by Dave RTP,
Ron Paul has a lot going for him, much of which, as a libertarian, I fully support. However, his isolationism is very short-sighted, as, IMHO, this planet would rapidly descend into utter chaos if this country were to start playing ostrich.
The EU and UN together are about as potent as a dud firecracker, and far more corrupt.
Help Fred Thompson defeat the RINOs along with the Hitllary/Obama axis & win the White House in '08.

June 29, 2007 - 13:59 ET by sarcasmoIf I'm not mistaken, he voted FOR Afghanistan and against Iraq. I'm not sure how that translates to "isolationism," especially given outcomes so far, although I still hope for the best for our troops in both countries. Did you know just how big Afghanistan is (bigger'n Texas) and how many jobs our troops there have besides hunting down Bin Laden (lots of jobs, and he's no-doubt in our "friend" Pakistan's territory, anyway)? 30,000 US troops are excellent, but that's a lot to do, in a lot of territory, and things you'd assume are important to the US government -- like stamping out opium -- don't seem to be getting much priority. I'd have been for concentrating force in pursuit of Osama, even though I agree with him totally WRT the Saudi dictatorship. Dave Barry's suggestion of how to deal with Saddam to Bush's dad was still the correct way to go with Saddam, our former employee in Iraq.

June 30, 2007 - 02:24 ET by AndrewI do wish that people would think it out more before labeling Ron Paul as an isolationist. He opposes unconstitutional warfare, yes. However, he voted in favor of going to Afghanistan, and he is a strong believer in trading with foreign nations.
Instead of someone who will try to stop any warfare or global participation whatsoever, I see someone who wants to make our borders safe, continue to trade with others, and replace pre-emptive strikes with more strategic deployment.
I'd be against Paul too if he would *never* get involved with others.
