How about Al Gore III

Looks like Algore's son, Al Gore III, is getting some special treatment.

"...the charges [could be] dropped if he successfully completes a drug diversion program."

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.
Thompson/Rice

what ???

Well, personally, I am not too fond of the Kennedys.

[Dave R ... I do not think this is what Monty meant. This is merely a forum topic. I think Monty wants to be able to create his own FORUM.]

I thought I had understood him to say he couldn't access the create content function over here. Then again, I have always had difficulty understanding the rantings of drug abusers!

Build the damn fence, George!

dave...its okay

Dave, it is okay. I know you were trying to be helpful. Lord knows Monty needs it.

Keep it real.

Dave R nice of you to try, but Monty changed his topic

Dave R nice of you to try, but Monty changed his topic from how we FEEL about powerful families in government being above the law to being a whining idiot sissy self-derailer.

It was funny going down this thread and actually expecting Monty to wage a good debate but winding up seeing a crybaby 5th grader pouting and sticking out his tongue, poking his thumbs in his ears and flapping his hands, then crossing his arms, stomping his little footy and I guess by the time I finish reading... running away.

My comment is the most powerful family in government that is above the law is called the family of CONGRESSCRITTERS .... just last week or so I found out they can use their insider market information and never be busted for insider trading... and they do more than 2X better than the best money manager because of it. (being above the law includes their little helpers)

I'm thinking they believe they are above almost every law there is... from having their offices searched after not complying with the FBI or legal subpeonas to writing their congressional checking accounts deep into the hole, to only they the dirty know what else most of the time. Heck they can even try to sneak a firearm in without any legal consequences. Punch a policeman with a cellphone and not be cuffed and thrown in the slammer...

I mean you name it, they are above the law...unless it's so bad, that they've openly stolen a couple million and flaunted it in front of everyone for years... and the politically opposite party anglers finally decide to get someone, where they can claim they at least by covering up, that they didn't do it as well (at least not in the exact same fashion and form)...

Daschle had quite the crime family, though, so many little familial members in there stroking the streets for millions while smirking chimp tommyboy bounced up and down pretending he believed what he yapped. Yeah, I vote daschle family for the most corrupt - tommy blew off the constitution opnely and tried to rake in as many others as he could with him, cutting deals with the potus for giving up power in exchange for tommy's crimes to slow a bit.

Then there's Mollohan the demoncratic 12 million dollar thief - he's got it going on - crime pork king.

funny and irrelevant monty lyon

That was irrelevant and painfully funny monty.

Daschle crime family, Mollohan crime family, oh yeah, Nancy Peloonsi with her special favors for hubbies nearby hotels and high end prostitution rooms. Another crime family, and Peloonsi really blew the constitution to shreds with her illegal crime jaunt and lies over there in Syria where she dhimmied herself down with maple/oak leaf headcover like a shirking cowering idiot, before Israel chewed her out for pretending to be their foreign policy diplomat. Yeah, that's right Pelooni crime may be the most corrupt family in DC.

Oh by the way, I don't want you to respond, why make me laugh anymore ? You're even more pathetic in this thread than you usually are, aren't you, or have I just never really noticed what a loser you are before ? I really didn't think an adult could be such an infantile idiot like you have been in this thread. It's amazing, really.

The Clinton crime cabal, however, may have the win as far as DC corruption goes, though. They had mutiple dozens of their cronies tossed in the slammer when slick wilty was still crime king, while well over 100 fled the nation..LOL -- fled the nation...rofl -- wow -- thatta way crime family clinton. Oh the clinton crime cabal is still running, this isn't reverse speculation, Hillary stole her senate seat with illegally paid for votes.

There was also that $700,000.00 campaign contribution she failed to claim, and was "fined" for, another crime that paid off for the queen of crime.

Thanks for your thoughtfulnes

Thanks for your thoughtfulness, Dave, something sadly lacking from your party since the Rush Brainwashed Syndrome of your new party.

It seems there are examples everyday from this wonderful site, attempting to spin how its ok for our goose in chief to be above the law. I wanted to extend that to basically the powerfully connected (cheney) to powerful families that have a tradition of being above the law.

Heres an example brought up  for today ,for what the   "left wing " press have  declared, the first week of our lame duck presidency:

Bush has a potty mouth. Should he be above the law?

A free press is one of the first things to go in a totalitarian government. Montana Lyons

Maybe we can set a few ground rules if you care for me to participate in your forum you altruistically set up out of the goodness and generosity of your heart,,,

the following types of barbs wont be tolerated unless you want to say them in the peanut gallery with the rest of the folks with middle school talent and education:

in the other forum I will be glad to talk about  you and your duck in chiefs substance abuse problems

Here we can talk about how lil George was able to remain above the law in regards to his substance issues?

Can we talk about Teddy Kennedy too? Can we talk about all of the Kennedy's that have been afforded this so called "privilege" of being above the law?

Dyslexics Untie!

"The vice president has

"The vice president has admitted that he was drinking on the afternoon of the incident. He claims it was only a beer, according to the transcript of an interview with Fox New Wednesday. But the whole discussion about how much drinking took place on the day of the fateful hunt has been evolving rapidly since Katherine Armstrong, the wealthy Republican lobbyist who is a member of the politically connected family that owns the ranch where Cheney blasted his hunting partner, initially claimed that no one was imbibing before the incident. "

"

Cheney claims that he downed beer hours before he shot Whittington. But he now has a lot more explaining to do than what was seen during the "softball" interview on Fox News, the Administration's house network, which the White House crisis management team arranged for him to do Wednesday.

When legitimate questions arise regarding the role that the Secret Service might have played in undermining the investigation of a shooting in order to protect the vice president from embarrassment, and possible legal charges, those issues have to be addressed fully and completely. And they must be addressed in a setting where reporters are able to press the notoriously cagey Cheney to actually answer all of the questions that are asked.

Up to now, the whole "hunting-accident" controversy has been little more than a diversion from more serious matters involving Cheney--not least among these, the investigation into whether the Vice President authorized the release of classified information as part of a scheme to discredit critics of the Administration's rush to war. But if Cheney used his Secret Service unit to prevent a necessary and proper official inquiry at a time when it might have uncovered relevant information regarding his condition when he shot a man, then the Vice President has abused his office in a most serious manner.

The prospect that such an abuse occurred requires Cheney and any White House aides who were involved in "managing" the story--put Karl Rove at the top of this list--to stop stonewalling and provide a detailed explanation of their actions in the hours that followed the shooting incident. This is certainly not the only issue on which the Vice President needs to come clean, but it is no longer a joking matter--or, more precisely, it is no longer merely a joking matter.

John Nichols's book The Rise and Rise of Richard B. Cheney: Unlocking the Mysteries of the Most Powerful Vice President in American History (The New Press) is available nationwide at independent bookstores and at www.amazon.com. Publisher's Weekly describes it as "a Fahrenheit 9/11 for Cheney" and Esquire magazine says it "reveals the inner Cheney."

Youthful Indiscretion?

Teddy was already a senator for about seven years when he committed this "youthful indiscretion".  You want it your own way.  A sitting Senator, or a fortunate son before he even ran for his first public office?

You're not being honest.

formerly known as Riled One

Look, both parties have the

Look, both parties have their skeletons in and out of the closet. It doesn't make it right. You're hunt is rather ridiculous. It doesn't matter if Teddy Kennedy's crime happened in 1969 (when he was 37 years old) or that Bush's crime happened in 1976 (when he was 30 years old)...(a side note, there is only 7 years difference between the two events so your whining about digging up things from the past is quite funny to me). Bush's crime was a misdemeanor offense, Kennedy's (if the allegations are true) is a capital offense. But I digress.

My point here is that law enforcement has a great degree of discretion. Meaning they can pick and choose what they are going to bust or what they are going to overlook. Many times this discretion tends to be very forgiving when a prominent family is involved (sometimes without any urging from said families). It happens. It's not right, but it happens all the same--on both sides of the aisle, and in all walks of life, and in every country.

I'm in the USAF. I have been enlisted for over 11 years. In my time I have seen many, many enlisted people's careers destroyed by DUI's (and rightly so) at the same time, I have seen a major get two DUIs within 3 months and just receive a slap on the wrist. I've heard of numerous other officers that are let off the hook for DUIs, domestic "issues", and various other illegal behaviors. I also worked for a Colonel that got several DUIs at two different bases (I was stationed at both places when they happened). He kept getting warnings...he finally had an "improper relationship" with a junior officer and was more or less forced to retire...had he not had the DUIs he'd still be on active duty, if he didn't have the improper relationship he'd still be getting warnings every time he got a DUI. The sad fact is that the system may not be perfect and the people administering the system are even less perfect. It's an endless battle, you will not get rid of corruption in our justice system or our politics. I don't think any government has existed for very long without any corruption.

So come up with something a little more productive than trying to point a narrow finger at a very broad problem that plagues both parties.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." --Thomas Jefferson

Thankyou, Dr. for your honest

Thankyou, Dr. for your honesty in that both parties are guilty about being above the law. Why should we waste time on paris when govt officials and powerful families have been above the law?

why should we dig up the past?? you all whine about Teddy and clinton when its old news...we should continue to show how some powerful people have continued and will continue to be above the law@

It takes two parties (sometimes only one) to "overlook" an infraction. The well-connected family and the law enforcement agency...sometime the L.E. agency takes it upon themsleves to overlook it to save face, paperwork, and the hassle they assume they will face if they proceed with accusations/charges. Sometimes D.A.s decide it's not worth pursuing.

So what do we do? We have corrupt people that bribe, we have corrupt people that accept bribes. We have lazy people that try to avoid extra work and hassles. We have still more people that have a career goal or agenda they are pursuing and certain things will throw obstacles in the way if they aren't careful.

With all of the failings of our justice system, I still think it is better than any other system in the world. Not many other places in the world that assume innocence until guilt is proven. I suppose the best we can do is teach our children to have the highest integrity possible through our example and to elect officials that have exemplary integrity.

Good luck in that though...as long as a man doesn't hold himself to a higher standard than what society deems appropriate, the very nature of man is corrupt and corruption will continue to worsen as society will allow more and more latitude as to what is acceptable.

It is very hard to find an impartial judge to overlook the indiscretions that the president and his henchmen get away with . It is also very difficult when they fire republican judges and have supreme authority. This presidency has had more authority and flagrant abuse of power than any american president in history!

I'm sorry, but with all due respect, you are an idiot that is willfully 'stuck on stupid'.

Oh really? What about...

I don't believe for a second that Republicans or GWB have completely clean hands either, but as far as corruption, abuse of power, and scandalous behavior the Clintons have them all beat in spades.

your line of dialogue was goo

your line of dialogue was good and you were behaving very well , doctor liebe, up till this point....sad

Its funny whenever we criticize bush, you idiotic brainwashed dittoheads bring up clinton, so all the illegal wiretapping, starting a war on fake evidence, rove being the mastermind behind the attorneygeneral gate, etc., etc is ok in your books...fox spin  sure made an impression on you , doc of love?.,,. as soon as fox spinned out of rupert murdoch's evil aussie womb , it masterfully manufactured more spin on clinton every day than all the trash they tell on their infamous celebrities..its sad that educated folks (?) as yourself eat it up as gospel..

hey at mcds now, you can watch fox on the go while you inhale your bic mac of right wing corporate bs!

.If they spent even a minute amount of the time they waste on hilton on digging up the abuse of power of this administration, bush would have been impeached a long while ago. Instead they get the charismatic mumbler of right wing propergander, brit hume, to spin any news to favor bush , cheney and the whole washington mafia!

Once again you assume I and

Once again you assume I (and every other conservative) watch FOX News. I don't. I can't stand any TV news. In fact, I watch maybe...maybe a grand total of 2 hours of TV in a week and all of it is for entertainment. And big deal if FOX decides to cover insignificant celebrity stories, at least they aren't featuring sob stories about students having to pay the piper when their student loans come due like all of the othe network news outlets do. None of the links I provided were from FOX, so your conclusions are quite off the mark.

I am not a Republican--and I never will be, as they aren't conservative enough for me and they continually move left especially with fiscal policies. However, I usually vote Republican because they have the candidates that align the closest to my views. I think very few conservatives adopt their views because of FOX news as FOX news really isn't very conservative at all...it is right-leaning moderate at best, but usually pretty middle of the road for the most part. I held my political views before I even heard of FOX news.

All you regurgitate time and time again are the liberal talking points: "illegal" wiretapping, "fake" evidence, Rove being behind everything, evil corporations, and EVIL FOX News. It's the same continual circulation of Leftist BDS zombie talk that has only conjecture as a basis.

Learn to think for yourself. Develop your own political views from reading, researching, and doing a lot of thinking and introspection, you may find you arrive at conclusions that are in stark contrast to the DNC party line and everything you learned in college (assuming you are old enough to have gone to college).

Montana's "Feelings"

Oh, puhleeze Monte.  Get over your feelings.  I don't feel this.  I don't feel that.

Quit your damned pity party and start thinking.

Feelings and $5 bucks will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Feelings will get you a first date on eHarmony

Don't expect feelings to sweeten the bullcrap life you hate your parents for.
