A common practice in the liberal mainstream media is the exaggeration of certain headlines in order to increase the "scandal factor" of a given politically correct story. This does not happen often at Fox News due to their "fair and balanced" approach. Unfortunately, it did happen in a recent headline from a non-story about one disgruntled female employee suing GE for discrimination.
The headline reads: "Lawsuit: GE Discriminates Against 1,500 Female Workers"
Wow! 1,500 women are suing for this? Wait, look what we find out when we read deeper:
Schaefer's suit, which is seeking class-action status, seeks $500 million in damages for a class of about 1,500 to 1,700 GE women executives and lawyers, according her attorney, David Sanford of Sanford Wittels & Heisler LP.
None of these "1500 to 1700 women" have asked to be part of the suit, nor have they even been contacted yet. One woman is grandstanding to hurt the company's reputation. Where is the list of names? There are none, it is one woman looking to get back at GE because she was demoted. Ridiculous.

1. I seem to detect a deafe
June 1, 2007 - 10:55 ET by sarcasmo1. I seem to detect a deafening silence from our resident lefties whenever Fox News gets nailed for bias. I wonder why? ;) Could it be that such blog posts don't fit with their attempt to pigeonhole NB, perhaps??
2. I'd like to inject some remedial pro-libertarian bias into the news media, how does one get the job of deciding (without asking the story's writer, in my own personal experience with the Miami Herald) on the blatantly biased headlines for stories others actually-wrote?? We're certainly capable of it.

That's a third of a million each
June 1, 2007 - 11:03 ET by SportPoliticsThat's a third of a million each, probably a quarter million after lawyers fees (deducting those that don't participate).
I only get two or three hundred bucks when they send me their class action settlement letters out of the blue and the follow up checks. (business related)
Nice catch on Fox exaggerat
June 1, 2007 - 11:11 ET by MightyMouthNice catch on Fox exaggeration. But the real story here is that this "class action" suite (like almost all class actions) is completley trial lawyer driven! In most class actions the only "class" that gets any benefit from the suit are the trial lawyers involved. Libs, keep in mind, John Edwards is exactly the kind of charlatan that uses this kind of self enrichment to bleed corporate America (and ultimatley you and I ) using the legal system.
