WhichWing, I think where most people have problems isn't that they disagree...its like being stuck in the mud, the more you spin your tires the more stuck you become. Argument for argument sake doesn't lend itself to a healthy dialog. That being said, I do agree (and most here agree) that having a different opinion and voicing that opinion doesn't mark you as a troll or someone who should be banned.
Personally I think we can all try and be more civil with each other, and ask ourselves would we behave that way in person? Sports, I agree that PC is a bunch of garbage...but that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to be civil with each other. Civility doesn't mean PC...I guess that explains why you feel the need to call everyone idiots. You can be in the middle of a war, while having a heart of peace (versus a heart at war). Meaning when we see people as objects...to conquer or what not, we have a heart at war. When we have a heart of peace we see people as people, which invites peace. So even with Al Sadr, we must protect Iraq, hence we have to be at war with his Army as he provoked the dispute. However, how we fight is based on whether we have a heart of war or a heart at peace...it has been our policy since WW2 (maybe earlier) to not destroy our enemies to where they want to get back...rather to do just enough to end the war, then we build them up so that we can be Allies.
I don't watch the view, so I couldn't comment on Elisabeth not being civil...but from what I do know, she stood up to Rosie, without being rude or being a Rosie.
Do you listen to Glenn Beck? He has done a great job showing me how we can be polar opposites with someone, but still find areas where we have things in common and respect each other. If he can do that with Al Sharpton, then I think I can do the same with some of our token trolls here.
