Joke of the week: There was a swimming competition to cross the English Channel doing only the breaststroke, and the three women who entered the race were a blonde, a brunette, and a redhead.

After approximately 14 hours, the brunette staggered up on the shore, and was declared the winner. Upon being interviewed, the brunette expressed delight at having won the competition.

About 40 minutes later, the redhead crawled up on the shore and was declared the second-place finisher. Although disappointed, the redhead said it was extremely gratifying to have been able to finish the race.

Nearly 4 hours after that, the blonde finally came ashore, and promptly collapsed in front of the worried onlookers. After a couple of minutes, she was able to stand. When a reporter asked her why it took so long to complete the race, she replied, "I don't want to sound like a sore loser, or anything, but I think those two other girls were using their arms!"

Thanks to NBer Blonde for the joke!

I was watching Mail Call the other night and they featured apart of the armed services called Digital Video Imaging Distribution System. It is made up of military personnel that are photographers and reporters that record images and reports on what is happening with our military around the word. They cover everything from the combat with insurgents to building homes, clean water wells, food, clothing and medical needs of the Iraqi people.

DIVDS offers these reports and images to MSM, but of course you never see or hear the truth about our military from them. Here is the website, enjoy.

Subsailor599 - maybe Traditio

Subsailor599 - maybe Traditional Media doesn't use the dvidshub site because its not a 24/7 news center.  In some cases, they claim updates are once a week but many of the "current" articles are older than that.  Also, I searched for Cheney's  visit to Iraq - nothing was posted about that yet.

Military Mistake? The US mili

Military Mistake?

The US military is making an error in strategy when they allow psuedo journalists to be embedded within military units. It has been proven by past practice that these "journalists" only report on the mistakes of personnel made in the heat of battle and seem to be only interested in destroying the morale of our airmen, marines, and soldiers. When is the last time you have read or seen reports of heroism? When is the last time you read or seen reports of any constructive actions undertaken by military personnel? The first step to victory should be to remove these "journalists" from the front and cease the news briefings. The people are not interested in promoting the truth or protecting the Iraqi people. News releases should be done by email blasts in the form of reports to the people and news groups. Maybe even through MyTube reports. In fact, it appears the only thing these "journalists" are interested in is the death count of civilians and our heroes. So much for "all the news that fit to print."

atla...I could not agree with

atla...

I could not agree with you more...and have posted as such numerous times in the past here.

Biggest mistake we made was embedding the media from the beginning of this war...biggest mistake.

I saw this from the BBC...really cute how they understand grief and anger during a time of war eh?

A friend get ripped in half in front of their buddies, another friend turns on them to save his skin, and this is how the BBC decides to report this incident. This people make me ill that are so called journalists.... whom by the way had their own filthy fingers in this whole incident, which I am sure you are well aware of.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6641843.stm

Walk in someone else's shoes...I dare any of these leftists to try it, unfortunately from my point of view, these are the very enemies within our brave soldiers are fighting for their freedom of speech for.

I detest each adn every one of the leftist reporters.

My neighbors son served over there in Balad, he is still furious with the reporting...or better yet, the non-reporting.

I wholeheartedly agree with

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

I was thinking about that while listening to the call-in portion of the morning show in CSPAN. The people from the "Democratic line" were so far out in space with what they said about the situation in Iraq. Way off the beam. Their constant condemnation of everything about the Administration and Iraq is astounding.

I often wonder how the soldiers and coalition forces feel about the attitude displayed by so many in the Liberal seats of government, whom I sincerely believe to be misrepresenting the true wishes of the majority of their constituencies. There is no mistaking the personal agendas in this "debate".

And the Iraqis themselves. How do they feel hearing America has no faith in their abilities to govern themselves as a free and democratic society? You know it affects how they perceive us as a Nation. It has to.

The media MUST STOP constantly announcing our plans; when this will happen, when that will happen, how they do things, how vehicles operate, how special radar and weaponry work, how they perform raids, where they perform raids, what cities they are in and how many are there... it goes on and on and on and on...

If the fight was left to the military, I believe things would be much different in Iraq. The Liberals have practically required a soldier ask permission to kill a terrorist. Soldiers must be second-guessing everything they do, at least in the backs of their minds, every time they're out on a mission. Wondering, if something happens, how the media will spin it to show them, always, in a negative light... all the while "supporting them".

Give me a break.

We don't need to know these things! The war is, in my view, strictly a matter for the military. It's part of "The Plan" and you never divulge the details of "The Plan". You don't tell people where you're going to hide when you play hide-and-seek. Even children know this. The Liberals in government do not.

We need to know how many Islamo-fascist-terrorists go to see their 70 virgins on a daily basis. We need to see the children going to school. The young people attending university. The hospitals, civic centers, bus stops, water stations, athletic fields, stadiums, shopping areas, libraries, cities, and towns are being built or rebuilt. People milling around. The integration of the US military and coalition forces so seamlessly into Iraqi society.

We need to hear the stories of the many victories of the US and coalition soldiers and the successes of the Iraqi soldiers. How many graduated, list their names, show their pictures, do video reports on these things.

We need to know the casualties. Reverently and honorably.

The MSM has turned this into something horrific, and those that wish to profit from the war; politically and financially, have their hooky claws all through this propaganda.

Thank you for listening.

I wonder if he really is planning on changing his stand on this issue or just 'making noise' for the press?

I don’t buy the argument one bit that they are doing the jobs Americans don’t want.

Let’s take a stereotypical landscaping crew.  An American citizen, whose qualifications allow him only to do such a job, is not in a position to say “I don’t want to do that job.  Instead I will become a stockbroker”.  It just can't happen.  There are plenty of Americans whose only choice may be to work on that landscaping crew.

Now, as a landscape company opwner, you have the option of hiring the American citizen, and shouldering the financial budern of workman’s comp, etc. or hiring the illegal immigrant instead.  The illegal immigrant will almost always win out.

So what happens to the American citizen?  Unemployment maybe??  Or Welfare???

So, we have to take the good with the bad. Imus can be fired by CBS, cbs might have to pay up, that is for the courts to decide. Simply turn off what you find objectionable and eventually the media will capitulate.

The "fairness doctrine" which is a misnomer, needs to be defeated at all cost. These commies are emboldened just like the terrorists.

This should make every libertarian angry.

For us libertarians, and any one else here who yearns to live in a free country once again, this is a truly sad and depressing story. The federal government's confiscation of private wealth has now, under the noses of a "conservative" Republican congress and White House, reached record levels.

Whatever happened, Mr Bush, to controlling the growth of, or even reducing the size of, the federal government?

Imagine what would happen if much of this money were to remain in private hands (the people who earned it in the first place.)

Damn, if we ever needed the Fair Tax, we need it now.

Sorry -- I actually bypassed what you had written on here. No, I'm not scared of the topic, I just do not vote for a politician based upon their religious affiliation, or anything to do with a religion. I vote for a person based upon their political ideals, nothing more.

So, if you are asking whether or not people like Debra have a double standard, I would have to say yes. Her double standard has to do with the Constitutionally protected first amendment right for every citizen to practice their religion. She uses religions as a disqualifier for persons to be elected president. I do not.

How Long Do We Have?

 How Long Do We Have?

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government."

"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury."

"From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years."

"During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage"

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:

Number of States won by:
Gore: 19
Bush: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Gore: 580,000
Bush: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Gore: 127 million
Bush: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore: 13.2
Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

"While our fuel standards haven't moved from 27.5 miles per gallon in two decades, both China and Japan have surpassed us, with Japanese cars now getting an average of 45 miles to the gallon," Obama said.

"an average of 45 miles to the gallon?"  Hardly likely....and I'll take the word of the Toyota spokesman over your alleged "proof."

Meh

Given the possibility that the report was accurate, the statement from Obama is still false. According to the report, US cars (in 2002) received 24.1 mpg, with China coming in at 25.9. There is no way that Obama took his information from that report, or else he would have gone with the 24.1 mpg rating it quotes.

No... Obama screwed up, and now there are people trying to cover his tracks.

Doubtful

I doubt that you could prove that is what Obama took his information off of.

Even if he had, using information that was 5 years old, in a recent speech, is pretty shotty.

In addition to that, the only way the "Pew Center" could achieve a 45 mpg rating, was in "normalizing" (that means they basically modified it) CAFE tests for them. Un-normalized, Japan comes in at 34 mpg -- exactly where the Toyota spokesman said they were at. In truth, I find it somewhat hard to believe that Japanese vehicles, "normalized" net a 12 mpg difference between non-normalized test results, and normalized -- whereas the closest contender after Japan, is the European Union... with a 5 mpg difference. It amazes me, that Japan, in that report, has such a difference, compared to the others listed.

A Tender Hunting StoryThe Pop

A Tender Hunting Story

The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the mountains of Alaska for some sight-seeing. He was cruising along the campground in the Pope-mobile when there was a frantic commotion just at the edge of the
woods.

A helpless Democrat, wearing sandals, shorts, a "Save the Whales" hat, and a "To **** with Bush" T-shirt, was screaming while struggling frantically, thrashing around trying to free himself from the grasp of a 10 foot grizzly bear.

As the Pope watched horrified, a group of Republican loggers came racing up. One quickly fired a .44 magnum into the bear's chest. The other two reached up and pulled the bleeding , semiconscious Democrat from the bear's grasp. Then using long clubs, the three loggers finished off the bear and two of them threw it onto the bed of their truck while the third tenderly placed the injured Democrat in the back seat.

As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. "I give you my blessing for your brave actions!" he told them. "I heard there was a bitter hatred between Republican loggers and Democratic Environmental activists but now I've seen with my own eyes that this is not
true."

As the Pope drove off, one of the loggers asked his buddies "Who was that guy?" "It was the Pope," another replied. "He's in direct contact with heaven and has access to all wisdom."

"Well," the logger said, "he may have access to all wisdom but he sure don't know anything about bear hunting! Is the bait holding up, or do we need to go back to Massachusetts and get another one?"

Good One Rackie

Ha, good one Rackie.  Reminded me of this oldie but goodie:

The Pope had just finished a tour of the East Coast and was
taking a limousine to the airport.

Having never driven a limo, he asked the chauffeur if he
could drive for awhile. Well, the chauffeur didn't
have much of a choice, so the chauffeur climbs in the back
of the limo and the Pope takes the wheel.

The Pope proceeds to hop on 95 and starts accelerating to see what
the limo could do. Well he gets to about 90 mph and, WHAM !, there are
the blue lights of our friendly State Patrol in his mirror.

He pulls over and the trooper comes to his window. Well the
trooper, seeing who it was, says "just a moment please I need
to call in."

The trooper radio's in and asks for the chief. He tells the chief
"I've got a REALLY important person pulled over and I need
to know what to do."

The chief replys "Who is it, not Ted again ?" The trooper says, "
No, even more important." The chief replys, "It's the Governor, is it ?",
the trooper replys "No, even more important." "It's isn't
the President is it ?" "No, more important", replys the trooper.

"Well WHO the HECK is it !", screams the chief.

"I don't know " says the trooper. "But he's got the Pope as a chauffeur."
