Just thought I'd throw this
May 9, 2007 - 10:19 ET by rx4musicJust thought I'd throw this in here... I'm suprised that this was on the MSN home page this morning. Is there any more reason to close up the borders and pay attention to who is trying to get here from parts south??
Bad guys are coming to get us... and it seems to be going un-noticed by the MSM and the general populace. Sometimes I'm very afraid for my kids and their kid's kids. What will this world be like in another 50 years?

May 9, 2007 - 10:40 ET by PeterDSo I am flicking around the channels last night and briefly catch a documentary of the 1979 No Nukes concerts organized by MUSE, or Musicians United for Safe Energy. Five days of concerts in New York City at Madison Square Garden. Interviews with some of the participants now about the build up to the shows. The common theme was the anti-war hippies from the 1960's had gathered for another cause, in this case, halting all nuclear power and the building of any new nuclear power plants, especially after 3 Mile Island. They were bragging about how they stopped it all and saved humankind.
Got me thinking. Suppose they didn't halt nuclear production. What would our energy situation be today, 28 years later? I would think that in 28 years time we would have perfected and continued to harness nuclear power. Imagine all the safe new nuclear power plants all over the country providing power to homes and businesses. Imagine a drastically reduced demand for oil, and how different history might have been over the past 28 years.
And many of those same hippy leftovers are speaking out today on our dependence on oil and against the war. Let's hope we learned our lesson and don't listen to them this time.

Illegal immigration has been
May 9, 2007 - 12:12 ET by bassndudeIllegal immigration has been addressed in the state of Oklahoma...
"The bill, which takes effect Nov. 1, would set criminal penalties for knowingly and willingly harboring illegal immigrants. No public benefits would be allowed to people in the state illegally, except in cases of medical emergencies or emergency aid. Businesses would need to run all workers through a federal verification system or risk penalties and legal action. "
"The legislation also would cut off in-state tuition for illegal immigrant students unless they can verify they have applied for citizenship or plan to within one year. Some say that could cut off most illegal students from in-state tuition because once a student enters the country illegally, it is almost impossible to become a legal citizen. "
There are some Americans still fighting to keep America free and legal. And we are in Oklahoma.

Bill Maher
May 9, 2007 - 12:16 ET by walkFrom Blitzer's show on CNN Yesterday...
BLITZER: Yes. She had a lovely time here in Washington, and all of us were very happy she was here.
I'm going to leave you on this note, because I know you have some thoughts on this subject. I don't know if you can see it here, but we're going to show you the president, that moment when he was dancing at the White House. You've seen it many times.
What do you think about the president -- it was for a good cause, obviously, but he really -- he really let himself go.
All right. You want to comment on that, Bill?
MAHER: Well, of course, I can't see it sitting here in my office in Hollywood, but I think I do remember what you are talking about.
You know, I don't think Jay-Z has to look over his shoulder because George Bush is coming up in the rearview mirror, but, you know, presidents, world leaders are often from time to time thrust into these kinds of situations where they have to make a fool of themselves for some reason. And I don't know why that is.
I don't -- I don't remember seeing a lot of other world leaders have to do that. There's something in the American character that wants to see our leaders humiliated from time to time, debased, especially when they are running.
I mean, they are always flipping hamburgers, or, you know, they constantly are getting out of a limousine and walking 10 feet, and then milking a cow or something. You know, I just hope that when we go to the polls next time, that we understand that we conducted a grand experiment the last eight years with George Bush. We elected a guy we wanted to have a beer with, a guy who was one of us, and maybe we need somebody who's better than us, you know?
"Elite" is not a bad word. Let's find an elite candidate, not one of us.

May 9, 2007 - 15:58 ET by msh1973I just read on Foxnews.com about retired Maj. General John Batiste, coming out against the handling of Iraq. He says:
"Mr. President, you did not listen. You continue to pursue a failed strategy that is breaking our great Army and Marine Corps. I left the Army in protest in order to speak out. Mr. President, you have placed our nation in peril. Our only hope is that Congress will act now to protect our fighting men and women." He is backed by a group called, VoteVets.org
I am not familiar with military protocol, but it seems very disturbing to me. Someone with more knowledge on these matters fill me in. What would motivate someone of his caliber to say such things at this time?

May 10, 2007 - 10:39 ET by LeonI was merely speculating as to what his motivation was. He believes it to be true and I suppose to some degree I agree, although not entirely.
For instance, I wouldn't say that we're losing the war in Iraq, we're just not winning and I nobody seems to know what victory is anyways.
2) isn't it clear that our military is stretched thin? All one needs to look at is the number of multiple deployments and the extension of time for these deployments. It's clear as day.

May 10, 2007 - 10:58 ET by BD1.) I would say that control of a population in 85% of a nation exists as a victory if over time you can slowly change the mores of the population and lure it from Islamo Fascism. That is victory. From all indicators we are effecting that change, if we are receiving casualteis along the way, it is just a signal of the old "Truism" that in all wars, the enemy gets a vote as well.
Not quick, but then I do not particularly like fast food either.
2.) Not so clear to me. In WWII the 34th Infantry Division of the Minnesota/Iowa National Guard left US shores for Europe in the Spring of 1942. THey did not return home until essentially 1946. During this time period they suffered 16,401 Casualties, approximately 1/3 of them being killed in action.
Yet, no one would assess that the US military during that time period was broken.
So why would the US military be "Broken" today when USMC tours are limited to six months int eh Combat zone at a time, and US forces have spent significantly less time in the combat zone, at lower levels of action with fewer casualties.
It is not the US military that is breaking. But liberals support to the US military that is cracking. They would much prefer to be able to go back tot he good old days of bad-mouthing soldiers....
Okay
May 9, 2007 - 16:42 ET by Mr. BishopBatiste is not allowed, by UCMJ protocols, to speak out against the President on a public level. In addition, he is not allowed to get involved in political matters, while an active member of the military. This is the reason he resigned his commission. Someone, like Leon, doesn't grasp the concept that just because one general, or a handful of generals, think the wrong direction is being taken in Iraq, there are far more that feel it is the proper direction. Someone, like Leon, doesn't grasp that concept that Bush is not directing the war in Iraq, he is leaving that to his generals. Someone, like Leon, doesn't understand that the Army and Marine Corps is in no danger of "breaking", and has no evidence of this. The evidence I have to the contrary is simply the recruiting and retention numbers, which are consistantly up.
You have to understand msh -- the military, like civilian life, has Democrats and Republicans, though Republican voters are much greater in number. The media, of all sides, will trumpet the one or two that come out against the president, but will ignore those that support him. The reasoning is because they feel, "What's the point?" Why bother to report that most of the military supports the president, it doesn't fit their mold that he is somehow incompetent.
No -- when you get right down to it, letting your generals make the decisions, and not forcing your own opinions on them, is something the liberals just don't get.

May 9, 2007 - 16:42 ET by DilbertI got what was supposed to be a funny email from a liberal friend today with the subject line: this should explain what happened
I just have to share it and my response to it! The original email:
Many will recall that on July 8, 1947, witnesses claimed that an
unidentified object with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep ranch
just
outside Roswell, New Mexico.
This is a well-known incident that many say has long been covered up by
the
U.S. Air Force and the US government.
However, you may NOT know that in the month of March 1948, exactly nine
months after that historic day, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald
Rumsfield, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Condolezza Rice, and Dan
Quyale
were all born.
See what happens when aliens breed with sheep?
This piece of information may clear up a lot of things
My response follows:
George W. Bush was born July 6, 1946.
Dick Cheney was born January 30, 1941
Donald Rumsfeld was born July 9, 1932
Bill O'Reilly was born September 10, 1949 (Now that would have to have been a REALLY long gestation!)
Rush Limbaugh was born January 12, 1951 (Is there a pattern developing?)
Condolezza Rice was born November 14, 1954 (An even longer one!)
Dan Quayle was born Feb. 4, 1947
It is said that all humor has an element of truth to it......SO
Albert Arnold "Al" Gore, Jr., former Vice-President of the United States, former US Senator, son of a segregationist US Senator who voted against the Civil Rights Act, and Savior of our fragile planet was born March, 31, 1948!!!
