I used to enjoy reading the Economist. Emphasis on past tense. Rarely do more than 3 cover storys go by that one is not strongly and or overtly Anti-Bush or Anti-American.

It is really sad and pathetic.

My problem with the editors. Why bother being good, if you are not objective.

The pursuit of quality without objectivity, is dangerous and sad.

Have a little self control and discipline, and at least only have a blatantly negative cover mayber 2-3 times a year. Not week after week.

(Just check out this weeks cover. A "Trojan Horse" Anti-Bush cover vis-a-vis a promotion for Anti-Bush Nicolas Sarkozy. (Real creativity there guys. Title: "The case for Nicolas Sarkozy." Just proves when you rule the media, your arguments don't need to be strong or creative.)

We all need to do something before it is too late.

On The Economist

One wrinkle in your critique:

The Economist has NEVER claimed to be objective.  That is one major reason why I read it and just paid a good sum to continue my subscription.  I can read their mag without having to resort to using a BS detector so much.

That being said, I am in total agreement.  It has turned more Left-wing with the ascendency of a new editor one year ago.
