‘Code Pink’ With Help From The Manatee County Democratic Party Ambushes Congressman Vern Buchanan At Radio Station… BRADENTON, FL. (NS) – Well, the ‘boo hoo’ crowd that still hasn’t gotten over the loss of Christine Jennings to now Congressman Vern Buchanan, managed to launch a Mini-Protest at local Radio Station 1490 WWPR located at 5910 Cortez Road West in Bradenton… What the '6 or so' Protestors wanted was to have Congressman Buchanan sign their Pledge and come out in favor of their position of bring the Troops home now and stop funding the War in Iraq… This Reporter saw '2' pink shirts and with the help of Manatee County Democratic Party Vice Chairman Mitch Mallett, a ‘scramble’ was made inside Manatee County Democratic Headquarters by telephone to get as many Anti-War Protestors to show up with their signs and assemble with the ‘Code Pink’ Ladies when they confronted the FL-13 Congressman after completing an interview on “The Captain’s AMERICA” radio show… Congressman Buchanan listened to and answered the questions that were asked of him by these Protestors who had hastily assembled to confront him ‘head on’ after his interview on “The Captain’s AMERICA” radio show was over… ‘Code Pink’ is just one of the National Groups poised to launch a March 17th National Protest against the War in Iraq in Washington, DC… Vietnam Veterans and ‘Rolling Thunder’ has launched a Counter Protest along with “A Gathering Of Eagles,” to keep Jane Fonda, Cindy Sheehan and their supporters away from the hallowed ground at the Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC… While the Anti-War sentiment continues to grow, the fact is American and Coalition Forces along with their Iraqi counterparts are making significant strides inside Iraq… Just yesterday, the British Military announced they would be able to withdraw 1,500 of their Troops in Basra, Southern Iraq, because of the progress being made their by Iraqi Security Forces… Currently over 80% of Iraq is under Iraqi control with the lingering problem still in the Sunni Iron Triangle of 3 Provinces which also include Baghdad, Iraq… The only other unsecure area of Iraq remains the Western Al Anbar Provine which has been having continuous problems along the Iraq – Syrian Border… American Combat Forces have taken an Offensive posture in the region in an attempt to drive Insurgents coming across the Border out of Iraq… In keeping his Campaign promises, Congressman Vern Buchanan has been working with local Veterans Groups in the 13th Florida Congressional District over concerns they have about VA Benefits… Locally, Joan Hansen, is the VA Representative in the Congressman’s Sarasota Office. While in Washington, DC Christian Ziegler is working on Veterans issues… The Congressman has also kept his Campaign promise by proposing a Balanced Budget Bill along with a Small Business Growth Act Bill in his short tenure in office... All in all, most people agree that Congressman Buchanan is doing a good job and has made some significant strides in the 6 weeks he’s been in Washington… I had one Anti-War Protestor come up to me yesterday and make that same statement… Only time will tell if our Troops of today will have to endure what our Troops from the Vietnam had to endure.
