Enough With Anna Nicole
February 15, 2007 - 11:07 ET by emjem24Has anyone noticed the incessant news coverage regarding the "tragic" death of Anna Nicole Smith? None of the sissy newshounds on t.v. will say it (even Fox News) but I will. The woman was an irresponsible parent, drugged up to the max, stuck on herself, and a used up, I can get anything I want because I was a Playboy Playmate, big-boobed, artificially accentuated trollop. Does this perhaps ring true with other celebrities that seem brainless, lacking morals, with little to no sense of responsibility? Bill O'Reilly is running a poll on his website (billoreilly.com I think) asking if we feel sorry for this woman. I say not...what say you?

February 15, 2007 - 11:32 ET by MikeBI don't feel the least bit sorry for ANS. Her mother probably mourns her. This death should have only got a passing mention in the news: "Anna Nicholle (sp?) Smith has died today in Hollywood, Fl. We'll have more on this once the autopsy is done." Period. End of coverage. Instead we got hours and hours of coverage, discussion, rumor, etc. You would have thought something important to the nation had happened; like another successful terrorist attack. It's not like there aren't a thousand bottle blonde bimboes with big boobs waiting to take her place. Paris Hilton is just a boob-job away from Anna's fame.

February 15, 2007 - 15:18 ET by Hero SquadIt's getting coverage because of the train wreck effect. Every day someone comes out of the woodwork claiming to be the father of her daughter. I expect in a day or two, Lt. Frank Drebin will declare he is the father. With a 5 month old daughter, a recently deceased son, and a fortune in legal limbo, this story is going to die a slow, protracted Natalie Holloway death in the media.
One note: If, as her lawyer is now alluding, Anna Nicole did have the wherewithall to set up a trust fund for her daughter in her will, so that whoever is the father will have no claim to lay other than possibly a requirement to care for the kid, then she may have been smarter than we gave her credit.
Granted, that's still not a whole lot.

February 15, 2007 - 21:57 ET by SportPoliticsI bet Nancy Grace is going out of her mind. I suffered though the stupidity on H&C.
The talking heads love posing a question instead of a statement.
" If that's the case then why won't he do a paternity test? "
I guess that was asked ten times before one of the doofuses had the guts to say " Because there's a lot of money involved"...
They went on for 20 minutes it seemed, and I still have no idea what the legal implications are of HStern in the Bahamas with whose daughter is it.
I find it hard to believe that a good investigative reporter hasn't acquired one of the girls hairs, and the same from some of the 5 daddy's that want a piece, and done some settling of questions themselves.
But then I suppose the jist of everything nowadays is go with your feelings to figure out what the truth is, and in the mean time make dozens of vieled statements as questions, and questions as statements, while your viewers never get informed on the basic set of facts, EVER. I know, you only have 20 minutes to make your fake questions.

February 15, 2007 - 12:59 ET by misterbillemjem - my feelings..I addressed this to my wife last night. I mourn the death of most people, but the media are, in a sense lionizing her life. She was a person of little moral value. I was going to send an email to B. O'Reilly and complain about the length of time dedicated to her. Instead, I just changed the channel. The awful truth is, there are a lot of people in this country who are eating up every minute of it and enjoying it. It boils down to this for me, would I want her as my daughter? Absolutely not. So why should I have her life and misdeeds shoved in my face?

A: Watching hour after hour of coverage of Smith's death where the show hosts are dragging everyone who ever met Smith, almost up to the garbage man who empties her trash (I guess he'll be on next week), while seeing the same worn out footage of Smith that's been reshown a thousand times since her death, i.e., watching Hannity & Colmes and On The Record with Greta back to back.

B: Listening to people who had nothing but disdain for Smith when she was alive, who wouldn't have crossed the street to spit on her if she were on fire, suddenly trying to paint themselves as feeling remorse and pity for her and rushing to her defense whenever some unfeeling person suggests Smith "might" have has an "alledged" drug problem or that she died from a drug overdose.

It is amazing to me how people become "famous" in America. The only thing Anna Nicole did was take her clothes off, marry a wealthy old man who died a short time later. There you have it...she is famous. Oh I almost forgot she had large breast implants put in. No one would have even noticed her if she had been flat chested.

Obama was in negotiation for what amounted to $5,000 a month. So the question that must asked is were these service endorsements bought by the higher 'bidder'?

The MSM Won't Even Mention This
February 15, 2007 - 11:50 ET by emjem24JDW, I don't think the MSM will even cover this. However, perhaps we can press this further and begin an active campaign (like Sean Hannity has) to dig into the outright hypocrisy of this woman. This story constitutes a bigger issue that is a typical part of the democrat party. It really says something when you have to pay a black partisan activist (and politician) 200K just to support your campaign. This is outright pandering and bribery and would get other people indicted but not so with fugly Hilary Clinton. I wonder how much support people still fee for her in Upstate New York when she didn't come through on her thousands of new jobs pledge. This black leader in S Carolina is a greater symptom of what's wrong with the African American community. African Americans (along with other minorities in this country) feel they deserve something for their "victimhood" so democrats pander to that and make false promises that actually do nothing to engender success or opportunities within the black community. This is why the black community would take such a bribe - money talks and I guess African Americans support those who will continue to keep them on welfare, irresponsible, drug addicted, poor, and hopeless.

I don't know, but I caught a little bit of Larry King last night when he had Judge Judy on his show. She (Judge Judy) thought Hillary was a "wonderful Senator for New York." Hillary did get re-elected. It looked to me, though, that the Republican Party in New York just rolled over and played dead for her, though. If they (the Republican Party) had selected and backed a good candidate, perhaps Hillary would have been beaten. Then we probably would not have had to endure listening to that screeching voice for the next year and a half, and (God forbid) four to eight years after the election.

I'm Talking Upstate New York, Mike
February 15, 2007 - 12:55 ET by emjem24Mike, in my previous post, I was talking about Hilary's failed promises of job growth for the upstate region of New York (more like the forgotten region). Being that I'm from that region myself, it seems that Shrillary has forgotten about that part of the state. The downstate region (New York City and it's buroughs) rule the state politically and economically. However, there are cities like Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, and Rochester that are very liberal. They won the election for Hillary. There wasn't a serious attempt by the Republican party to front a strong candidate who could beat her. Perhaps, there is no stopping the juggernaut that is Shrillary. Anyway, I wish we could pass legislation that forbade people not native to the state they're running in from running for such positions as senator. She's not form New York, she doesn't understand the intrinsic problems in the upstate region nor does she really care. She used New York as a ladder to more power and she will now use it as yet another rung on her way to the presidency. She has no problem walking over upstaters who bought her lies of economic prosperity when at best she's brought the region nothing but more of the same. Judge Judy is a twit and from New York City, a liberal haven. Of course, she'll say that, they all do down there, she's the best thing since Bill. New York is an overwhelmingly liberal state that I can't live in anymore with its high taxes and its inappropriate expenditature priorities. It's sad what the state has turned into. More are running from it every day, just ask upstaters.

I am incapable of understanding why NYers would let an Arkansas person move in to their state for the explicit purpose of running for office and then electing her. The thought process behind it must be the same one that re-elects fat Teddy and ketchup Kerry in MA.

I was watching FNC last night
February 15, 2007 - 11:53 ET by BruzillaI was watching FNC last night, I think it was Shepherd Smith's show, and they did a segment about how slow the progress is in fixing homes in New Orleans that were damaged by Katrina. The segment has the requisite New Orleans African-American victim talking about how the government and politicians needed to do more to help get these homes rebuilt, and there was video of damaged and abandoned homes galore during the voiceovers.
A coworker of mine's husband is a big-wig with the Katrina clean-up effort, and what she's been told by her husband is a lot different from what I'm hearing on the news... even FNC. The reason that most of these homes have not been repaired is that the folks who owned them before the storm have sold them to developers. After the storm, the New Orleans government pretty much tossed out most of the zoning regulations, which opened the doors for developers to come in and buy up whole neighborhoods with no restrictions as to what they could use the land for. They can build condos, office buildings, shopping centers, golf courses, etc., on land that used to be zoned as residential without having to apply for variances, rezoning, etc. So if you see video of a street with damaged houses as far as the eye can see, it's because those houses have been sold to a developer who's deciding what they're going to do with the land before razing the houses, or is holding the land as an investment and is waiting for a buyer.
So while the media-induced perception is that all of these houses are unrepaired because "The Government" is being slow to release funds to repair them, or evil insurance companies are dragging their feet, and thousands of poor New Orleans residents are left homeless, the truth is those residents have snagged the cash from the developers and moved to other cities or states.

February 15, 2007 - 12:07 ET by Eric TurnerThat explanation is much more plausible and believable then anything else I've heard.
I'd just like to know when they're going to start blaming the government for all the people moving out of NOLA because there are no jobs, no law enforcement, no support, etc. People are not moving back to NO and those that are; move out just as quickly. I would like to see the difference in the census count between 2000 and 2010.
I personally can't wait for the place to become a ghost town and the whole area reclaimed by the bayous. I'm sure they'll blame Bush and the Republicans and then global warming. NOLA being abandoned is a win-win for the dems. They'll milk that cow for decades. And the lemmings will eat it up.
The GOP handled Katrina and New Orleans completely wrong.
If you're waiting for New Orl
February 15, 2007 - 12:22 ET by BruzillaIf you're waiting for New Orleans to disappear you can forget it. I thought that the place would be a ghost town by now, and that property values would be zero, but I've found out the opposite is true. The reason that so many people who are returning to New Orleans and leaving again is that property values are skyrocketing as developers snap up real estate. Someone who rented a house for $400 before the storm now has to pay $1,200 for the same house, and while salaries have been driven up due to the labor shortage they haven't gone up threefold, so if you were barely making it there before you aren't going to make it there now.
Based on what I've been hearing from my co-worker's husband, you can expect to see New Orleans get the Phoenix treatment and arise from the ashes as a high-income Southern resort area, along the lines of Miami, St. Petersburg, etc. There are going to be lots of high-end condos, shopping centers, golf courses, etc., and middle to high income folks will replace the low income former residents. Right now there's no better real estate investment than buying land in New Orleans and that's why.
Where the "Oh So Painful Irony" factor comes in is that while the New Orleans and Louisiana governments have been race-beating the federal government to commit to all kinds of new money to re-do the levie systems to keep the poor, disenfranchised, Black voters safe, all that money is going to get spent on keeping the extravagent homes and golf courses of wealthy folks dry.

February 15, 2007 - 12:44 ET by MikeBOne of the benefits of this rising from the ashes scenario will be that all those wealthy (mostly) white folks moving in will be that tne New Orleans Police Department will become less corrupt. Wait a minute here. I thought only WHITE people can be racist…
Was it Batman, or Bat Boy?
Hugo Chavez "progresses" yet another step towards Democracy. I wonder how Herr Chavez would react if Al-Qaeda bombed the crap out of his oil wells?
This is an interesting new twist in the seemingly-endless abortion debate.
Don't you DARE move that monument of misery, death, and poverty!
Egypt takes a step towards removing nutjob followers of Islam from politics.
"Mookie is just visiting Iran. He will be back soon", said Baghdad Bob. Mookie's supporters are traveling with him for "moral support", I guess.
They may have killed an innocent man, but dammit, they might have saved a whale!"
Another UN success story!
President Bush announces that 7,000 more Iraqi refugees will be allowed to emigrant to the US. How do you think the Democrats reacted?
The media seems downright depressed that the faux-criminal trial of Scooter Libby is proceeding quietly. "The trial fell well short of the Watergate and Iran-Contra trials that riveted the nation's attention." Awwww.
In Pennsylvania, our esteemed Spendocrat governor has decided that, if our public school students are not performing well, it must be the fault of the school principals and administrators. Could it be because the teacher's union donated $235,000 to Rendell's campaign last year?
Vote for me!
OMG! Ricky Martin (I know, most of you are going who?) sent all the Hufftards into a orgasmic frenzy by giving the President "the finger" during one of his shows. What a hero to the juvenile Left! But why did he do it? Let's look at his recent album sales:
1999: Ricky Martin – 7 million sold
2000: Sound Loaded – 4 million
2001: La Historia – 2 million
2003: Alma de Silencio - 2 million
2005: Life – less than 500,000
2006: MTV Unplugged – less than 500,000
I see a Dixie Chick trend here…
Here is a partial listing of more school closings in the Northeast…
Why the "Shrub Report" is better than left wing MSM
February 15, 2007 - 15:02 ET by Carl KolchakWay to use a "Weekley World News" link on the "Shrub Report" today. This is why you are better than the stuck up left wingers in the MSM. They can't appreciate quality sources on "Batboy". I'll bet those stuck up left wingers at "New York Times" have never even got a good photo of "Batboy."

February 15, 2007 - 16:02 ET by sarcasmoI'm not sure. I'm not the best one to speak on the whole gay issue, as it's not that important to me. I'm pretty simple on the issue of marriage in general, I believe in the old-fashioned separation of marriage & state, so it's solely up to your (church, temple, mosque, coven, etc. etc.) as far as I'm concerned. As with my other views, I'm a tiny-minority, but I don't particularly-mind it since being philosophically-consistent makes these issues "easy" for me. I wish marriage weren't a federal issue, frankly...

February 15, 2007 - 16:17 ET by Roger the ShrubberThere is a faction in the gay right camp who do consider themselves little MLK's and Rosa Parks. There is also a faction on the Left who believe that anti-gay marriage is racism, because the groups who are fighting against gay marriage, in the eyes of these "Progressives", are nutjob religious groups "use racism" as a fear tactic to turn people against homosexuality.
Personally, I think it's a bunch of crap, and an insult to blacks everywhere.
Here's a fun website to check out. I am sure many of our Left-addled NBers already have this site bookmarked for daily reading.

February 15, 2007 - 16:43 ET by sunandsteelI am getting sick of these gay rights people constantly trying to equate their "plight" to that of the Civil Rights movement. Do these gays have to sit in special sections of restaurants? Do they have to sit at the backs of buses? Do they have to use "gay only" drinking fountains? Are they denied the right to vote? NO NO NO NO!!! These people are not "victims" like they want to portray themselves. They have made a choice to live a certian way, but now they want everyone to support that choice no questions asked. Bullcrap. So Tim Hardaway hates gays, so what? But people are supposed to feel bad for some former NBA player, who probably made a very good living playing ball, when he says how "rough" he had it because he is gay??? I guess I need some sensitivity training or something, but I dont care. If you are gay, fine, be gay, I dont want to know. But if you start throwing that crap in my face, I am gonna say something. Does that make me homophobic? No.

February 15, 2007 - 15:33 ET by j. frank wilsonHow's that? Since at least the US Civil War, the United States has been willing to examine how it handles its own affairs. During WW II wasn't it The Little Hoover Commission headed up by Harry S Truman?
Seems perfectly reasonable to me that taxpayers can expect that their money is spent in a reasonable and efficient manner. Wasn't their an attempt to shut down the office of the special inspector general in Iraq?

February 15, 2007 - 15:45 ET by acaiguanaj. frank - got no problem attacking waste during the war.
While we are at it, let's attack waste in the War on Poverty with several dozen 'special inspector general offices' throughout the US?
Let's start with any major city and target NGOs. That would be a really cool thing to do. Way overdue.
You would have to agree that spending all those $7 Trillion Tax dollars (and mounting each and every year) for absolutely zero, in fact negative return on investment, is a total waste of my money by politicians?
Further, you must agree that there has been a terrible waste of young lives in gang membership which can be traced directly to failed Liberal policies and strategies in the War on Poverty, right. Terrible waste of young lives and millions of young children brought up in poverty and squalor associated with single parent families and drugs.
Way overdue, those 'special inspector genereral offices', I say.
But the Democrats have been lying about the War on Poverty for so long that we cannot even face the reality that it is a total failure. One would think that the Democrats would be ashamed of themselves in their terrible warmongering destruction of innocents in their War on Poverty. But they are a callous lying bunch, wouldn't you agree?
